Lin Moyu could tell from the tone of the Flame Demon King that something was off; he seemed full of confidence.

He had no idea where that confidence came from.

There were no demons or bosses around; it was completely empty, save for the barrier.

Lin Moyu couldn't help but wonder, was he trying to trap him inside to death?

The Flame Demon King continued, "Enjoy your final moments. You will be wiped of everything and die completely."

"I will watch. I will watch as you eventually become an idiot, a fool, and then get killed and dismembered."

"Some human genius? In front of me, you're nothing but shit!"

Lin Moyu's heart stirred, and the Undead Legion appeared, surrounding and protecting him.

With a solemn gaze, he wanted to see what the Flame Demon King was really up to.

Luring him here without arranging a single monster—what kind of trick was he playing?

Where did he get the confidence to kill him?

Everything here felt strange.

Mist was spawning within the barrier, wispy and thin; if one didn't look carefully, it would be hard to notice.

By the time Lin Moyu noticed his vision changing, a thin layer of mist had already filled the entire barrier.

The Flame Demon King's eyes were also hidden within the mist, becoming hazy.

Chapter 281: Life and Death on the Line, Abyssal Illusion Demon

The mist grew thicker and thicker, wispy threads weaving together.

His vision worsened, and the scene gradually blurred.

The projection of the Flame Demon King disappeared, completely hidden within the mist.

The Skeleton Warriors were long gone from sight; only their Soul Fire could be vaguely seen in the mist.

Before long, even the Soul Fire vanished from his line of sight.

The sound of clicking reached his ears as the skeletons scattered in all directions.

It didn't matter that his vision was blocked; it didn't affect the connection Lin Moyu had through the Skeleton Warriors.

"The barrier covers a range of about one kilometer."

"There are no monsters inside the barrier, just mist everywhere, with no blind spots."

"What exactly is the Flame Demon King trying to do?"

The Skeleton Warriors brought detailed intelligence from inside the barrier to Lin Moyu.

However, Lin Moyu couldn't figure out how the Flame Demon King intended to deal with him.

What was the point of just trapping him?

Could he really be trying to trap him to death?

Under Lin Moyu's command, the Skeleton Warriors began to attack the barrier.

The barrier hummed, but it remained unmoved by the Skeleton Warriors' attacks.

Lin Moyu tried having the skeletons unleash their skills, but the barrier only produced slight ripples.

The barrier prepared by the Flame Demon King was very strong; he couldn't break through it for the time being.

"I wonder if the Strong Soldier skill can break the barrier," Lin Moyu pondered.

With every breath, mist continued to enter his body.

Besides breathing, the mist also seeped in through his skin in wispy threads.

His Bone Armor showed no reaction.

Lin Moyu trusted his Bone Armor; since the Bone Armor didn't react, it must be non-toxic and harmless.

As more and more mist was inhaled, Lin Moyu seemed to hear the laughter of the Flame Demon King.

The scene before his eyes began to change.

Scenes of his past experiences appeared before him.

Killing demons, killing bosses, the Professionals Tournament, various Dungeons, the Yuan Battlefield…

Scene after scene emerged before his eyes, then faded away.

Lin Moyu felt as if he had forgotten something; those scenes that had appeared and vanished were being forgotten.

A moment later, he found himself back at school.

Noisy sounds reached his ears.

"What am I doing?" Lin Moyu wondered, feeling strange.

He felt that he shouldn't be at school.

But his memory told him that he was a student, just about to prepare for his job advancement.

Gao Yang appeared in his line of sight, "Lin the Blockhead, it's your turn, hurry up and go up."

Xia Xue also said from the side, "They've called you twice already, why are you still spacing out?"

"Next, Lin Moyu!"

Someone in the job advancement magic circle was calling his name again.

Lin Moyu walked into the job advancement magic circle with confusion.

"Why do I remember that I've already completed my job advancement?"

"Did I forget something?" The confusion in Lin Moyu's eyes grew stronger.

He kept feeling that something was wrong, but he just couldn't remember.

The magic circle began to operate, and the job advancement started.

A cold wind blew, and an anomaly was born.

Lin Moyu saw a mage wearing mage robes; before him were endless skeletons.

An extreme number of skeletons.

A giant dragon was covered in skeletons, wailing and screaming.

"I think I've seen this scene before."

Lin Moyu felt that this scene was somewhat familiar; it wasn't the first time he had seen it.

Looking further away, there were even more skeletons.

Skeleton Warriors, Skeleton Mages, a massive Undead Legion were fighting on the battlefield, numbering in the hundreds of millions.

The skeletons charging at the very front were riding bone warhorses.

Not just on the ground, but in the sky as well.

Undead dragons were soaring in the air, with Archers standing all over their backs.

This time, the scene he saw was far superior to what he had seen during his previous job advancement.

Suddenly, that Necromancer abruptly raised his head and looked towards the sky.

He seemed to have seen something, raised his hand, and pointed gently with a slender finger.

A ball of flame exploded in Lin Moyu's line of sight.

Bang! A crisp sound rang out.

The scene before Lin Moyu's eyes instantly shattered into pieces.

Lin Moyu woke up with a start.

He found himself standing on the ground of the Ancient Battlefield; what he had just experienced was like a dream.

In the dream, everything was being forgotten.

Memories were fading rapidly.

If it had continued, he really would have become an idiot and a fool.

"What happened?"

Lin Moyu's vision was filled with fire.

He discovered that he was burning.

It didn't hurt; on the contrary, it was warm.

It wasn't just the surface burning, but every corner inside his body as well.

Popping sounds rang out continuously, accompanied by screams.

A large number of unknown objects inside his body were being burned to death.

"This is Soul Fire."

"Everything I saw just now was an illusion…"

Lin Moyu suddenly remembered knowledge he had once seen in a book.

Among the Abyssal Demons, there was a peculiar, mysterious, and dangerous type of demon.

They were called Abyssal Illusion Demons.

Abyssal Illusion Demons were a hundred times smaller than a strand of hair.

They existed in swarms, and a tiny cluster could contain quadrillions of them.

If counted by number alone, they could be said to be the most numerous type of Abyssal Demon.

This type of demon could burrow into a body, create illusions, erode the soul, erase memories, and even occupy the host.

Once they succeeded, the victim would become an idiot, lose their sense of self, and eventually become a puppet of the Illusion Demon.

Lin Moyu felt a wave of lingering fear.

Illusion Demons were too small and strange; before invading the body, they possessed no offensive capabilities, and even the Bone Armor showed no reaction.

Fortunately, that mage in the anomaly…

Lin Moyu's entire body was surrounded by Soul Fire.

The Illusion Demons that had entered his body were all burned to ashes by the Soul Fire.

This was the first time Lin Moyu had cast Soul Fire on himself; he hadn't expected it to have such a miraculous effect.

Then, with a thought, he triggered the Soul Fire skill.

A bright flame rose from Lin Moyu's palm, and then the flame exploded with a boom, turning into a huge fireball.

Numerous screams came from the mist; the Abyssal Illusion Demons hidden in the mist were burned to death without any resistance…

Soul Fire was clearly their nemesis.

"Eh!"

"You actually managed to discover it!"

"What kind of fire is this? Why can it burn an Illusion Demon to death!"

A soft exclamation came from the air, followed by a loud roar.

Lin Moyu, filled with anger and unprecedentedly intense killing intent, replied, "The fire that will destroy you!"
