Look What You’ve Done

In the corridor, where a pin drop could be heard, gunshots echoed. Russell held a gun in each hand and walked straight toward their source, the trident hooked to his belt. Having sorted out the plot and realized he was at an advantage in every way, he felt no pressure at all. As long as the Sea Monster did not avoid him, this stage would soon be wrapped up.

"Based on my experience in the Main God Space last time, Deep Freeze is only the beginning. It definitely can’t be the final battlefield, so…" After a moment’s thought, Russell recalled the island that had appeared at the end of the movie.

The storm at sea was no coincidence. The Argo had wandered into a region with a chaotic Magnetic Field. Once it crossed this stretch of sea, it would reach that mysterious island.

With that analysis, the Sea Monster’s value instantly plummeted. It went from being the plot’s BOSS to an elite minion on the outskirts!

Before he knew it, the dense gunfire gradually became sparse, then vanished completely.

Russell frowned, unsure what had happened, and hurried toward the source of the earlier gunfire. Just then, a dark shadow suddenly shot out from the ventilation duct above his head.

Whoosh!

The Desert Eagle · Heavenly God extended a blue blade of Magic Power. Russell fixed his eyes on the shadow and slashed backward.

The sharp blade swept through it, and a grotesque Tentacle fell to the ground. The severed limb writhed and jumped like an earthworm, spraying a large amount of foul-smelling, sticky green fluid.

That severed limb was nearly as thick as Russell’s waist. The Tentacle whose tip had been cut off abruptly retracted, followed immediately by one Tentacle shooting out from each of the ventilation ducts before and behind him.

This time, he saw clearly. The writhing tentacles were covered in fleshy spines and mottled markings, dark gray overall. They looked exactly like elongated sea cucumbers, enough to make one’s scalp tingle.

The two tentacles rapidly extended before Russell. Their tips opened, revealing concealed mouthparts at the center of the outward-curving hooked claws and spikes.

Russell raised both guns. One fired rapidly, blasting a Tentacle into minced flesh, while the other unleashed high-powered Mana Bullets and directly blew apart the incoming Tentacle.

The severed tentacles withdrew into the ventilation ducts and disappeared without a trace in the blink of an eye. Faintly, a deep roar could be heard from the distance.

Russell frowned and remained where he was. Every Tentacle of the Sea Monster could be considered a separate head. The strength it had displayed was ordinary and nothing to fear, but… the trident had actually failed to work!

The trident could command all marine life. Russell was absolutely certain of that. Yet the Sea Monster had broken this rule, leaving him unable to understand.

Could the Sea Monster actually be a land creature?

"An octopus living on land… impossible. Even if a magical girl could keep it hydrated, that would only be a drop in the bucket. It couldn’t last long."

Russell silently mocked it. Judging from its traits, the Sea Monster was definitely a marine creature. Even out of the ocean, it could only survive in damp places such as swamps.

Even an elementary school student could see that this kind of creature could not survive without water. Otherwise, it would soon be dried into fish jerky.

"Then why did the trident get ignored…"

Russell racked his brain but could not figure it out, so he simply stopped dwelling on it. He put the trident into his Space Ring and continued forward. Even without equipping a Character Card, he was confident he could deal with this giant octopus. There was no need to agonize over it.

Screech! Screech—

The blade formed from Magic Power sliced across the metal wall. Russell hurried toward the source of the earlier roar, continuously making noise to lure the Sea Monster into walking into his trap.

Soon, blotches of blood began appearing along the corridor and walls. Mixed into the heavy scent of blood was an indescribable stench. Russell took one breath and immediately felt dizzy, nauseated enough to vomit.

The corridor was terrifyingly silent. The flickering yellow lights on the ceiling created an eerie atmosphere. Russell’s expression did not change. He knew the target was ahead, and that he was getting closer and closer to the Sea Monster’s main body.

He lightly tapped the ground with his toes. The corridor floor was extremely slippery due to an unknown sticky liquid. The Sea Monster was clearly more patient than before. It seemed to have laid a trap and was waiting for Russell to walk into it.

"It has intelligence, and its intelligence isn’t low…"

Screeeech—

At the edge of the door at the end of the corridor, two distortions bulged from the hard alloy wall, then spread toward him like swimming snakes.

Russell dismissed them with contempt. His guns crossed as he fired repeatedly, severing the tentacles hidden within the wall. He strode through the door at the end. The moment he entered, seven or eight tentacles descended over his head, their grotesque mouthparts wide open as they roared out gusts of fishy wind.

Roar! Roar! Roar—

A huge mass of coiling tentacles also surged out from the corridor behind the door, roaring as they attacked Russell. He was caught in a pincer attack, with no way to retreat.

Russell fired both guns in rapid succession. At the same time, the blue blade condensed from Magic Power abruptly extended to two meters. His body spun like a top, his arms swinging as the blade carved brilliant crescent-shaped arcs through the air.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The meat-grinder-like blade was incomparably sharp. All the tentacles attacking from every direction were sliced to the ground, cleanly and decisively, without the slightest hesitation.

Foul-smelling slime splashed everywhere. Russell shifted his feet to avoid the unknown liquid splashing toward him. Severed tentacles littered the ground around him, each one twisting in agony like a giant python that had been beheaded.

"Roar, roar, roar—"

Muffled thunder came from beneath the deck, and the entire cruise ship suddenly shook. The red-carpeted floor in the center of the hall bulged upward into a mound.

Boom!!!

A deafening explosion erupted. Seawater poured in from below, and the powerful pressure drove the waves into the ceiling like fountains.

The icy seawater instantly filled the spacious hall, rising to Russell’s knees and continuing upward. An enormous head smashed through the deck beneath the ship and let out a hoarse roar at Russell.

The Sea Monster possessed the size of a deep-sea behemoth, incomparably massive. Its slime-covered head was savage and ugly, with writhing tentacles beneath it. At a glance, there were more than thirty of them.

The behemoth’s appearance was horrifying, but Russell carefully noticed that beneath its huge mouth full of ringed fangs were two funnel-shaped organs, extremely similar to those of mollusks such as octopuses and squid. This fully proved that the thing was a marine creature.

"Roar, roar, roar—"

The Sea Monster glared at Russell and roared again. The repeated injuries Russell had inflicted made it reveal itself to take revenge.

"I take back what I said. Your intelligence is decent, but you’ve lived too long at the top of the food chain and forgotten the instinct creatures have to seek benefits and avoid harm."

Russell pulled the trigger and fired at the Sea Monster’s head. The rapid-fire bullets destroyed its two huge eyes, splashing slime mixed with blood. The powerful Mana Bullets shot directly into the behemoth’s mouth, pierced through its body, and exploded into a huge mass of flesh and blood behind it.

"Roar, roar, roar—"

More than ten tentacles swept back and forth, stirring up countless waves and throwing the hall into chaos. In pain, the Sea Monster pulled back its head, preparing to dive beneath the sea and flee for its life.

Russell put away his guns and raised the trident before him. The seawater filling the sky reversed and poured downward, its immense pressure spinning into a Great Maelstrom. The Sea Monster was like it had fallen into a washing machine. Its body struggled uncontrollably as it let out continuous cries of pain.

Not long after, a muffled sound of a water sphere bursting came from beneath the deck, and the Sea Monster’s wails abruptly stopped.

Ding

The Host has come into contact with the plot character Ying Yingying, triggering the Lottery Draw. You have obtained two lottery chances. Draw now?

Russell: "…"

That name… anyone who knew her must have suffered, especially when calling her name in public.

The ceiling overhead was torn apart. A figure entirely shrouded in a black robe floated in midair. She appeared to be around one meter sixty, petite and not particularly intimidating.

"Look what you’ve done! You ruined all my leads!"
