Lovers Eventually Become Siblings

Li Feng was actually looking forward to Valentine attacking the academy. After all, he still wanted to ask Valentine what the Mortal Cup could actually do.

As for the subordinates Valentine brought, they were prime desserts for the Dementors. Li Feng wished Valentine would summon even more demons and feed the Dementors until they were stuffed.

After signaling to Eric and the others that he still needed to copy down the knowledge of the "Runes," Li Feng whistled his way back to the library amid everyone’s profuse thanks.

Back in the library, after shutting the doors, Li Feng could not help curling his lips into a faint smile. Being a villain yet treated as a benefactor felt pretty good.

Too bad these people won’t be praising me for long.

Rubbing his forehead, Li Feng softly called, "Kreacher, come out."

The moment Li Feng finished speaking, Kreacher suddenly appeared in the previously empty library.

Kreacher walked up to Li Feng and blinked his big eyes. "Boss, what are your orders?"

Li Feng turned to look at the books on the bookshelf, greedily licking his lips as he asked, "How many books haven’t been copied yet?"

Kreacher tilted his head and thought for a moment before answering, "Boss, all the materials related to Rune script have been copied. The rest are books on herbs, potions, and alchemy."

"They’ve all been copied already?" Li Feng asked in surprise, only to realize as soon as the words left his mouth that he had asked a stupid question.

First, Kreacher could not possibly deceive him.

Second, aside from Kreacher working day and night, the reason he had managed to copy nearly a hundred books in just a few days was that the library’s collection was definitely not as Hodge had claimed—"all knowledge about Runes is here."

At any rate, Li Feng did not believe that the Shadowhunters, with their thousand-year legacy, possessed only this little knowledge about Runes.

Still, the books they had recorded so far were enough for Li Feng to study for several years. A person could not be too greedy. After all, God, that kindly old gentleman, had once lectured Li Feng harshly about knowing contentment, or else he should beware the corruption of darkness.

Now that he had the knowledge of Runes, as long as he got his hands on the Mortal Cup and Valentine’s memories, Li Feng felt that his appetite would be satisfied.

As for the remaining knowledge on potions and alchemy, it was not that Li Feng looked down on the Shadowhunters. He was sincerely worried for them.

What era was this? The weapons they forged were either knives or swords. Would it kill them to combine them with firearms?

A bunch of antiques whose minds had gone stiff beyond belief.

"Since everything’s been copied, pack up our luggage," Li Feng said in a low voice with a silent grin. "I reckon we’ll be kicked out of here soon."

With that, Li Feng entered an invisible state, turning into Black Mist and drifting toward the center of the academy—the room containing a Portal that could take one anywhere.

When Li Feng floated into the room, besides Clary and Hodge, there was also a soaking-wet Valentine.

At that moment, Valentine was holding the Mortal Cup filled with blood and forcing Clary to drink from it.

Naturally, Clary refused to the death. Valentine was a stranger to her, after all, and her mother had taught her from childhood not to eat food given by strangers, or she might be kidnapped and sold.

Valentine was very displeased by Clary’s attitude. He bluntly declared that he was Clary’s biological father. How could he possibly count as a stranger? So she should obediently drink the blood in the Mortal Cup.

Clary, who had inexplicably become Valentine’s daughter, was a little flustered. Embarrassed and angered, she snatched the Mortal Cup away, shoved it back into the Tarot Cards in a fit of rage, then jumped into the Portal to find her mother amid Valentine’s unwilling cry of "No!"

Staring at the Mortal Cup lying within the Tarot Cards yet impossible to retrieve, Valentine stood before the Portal on the verge of tears. Damn it, do you know how much I went through and how many wanted notices I had to endure just to find the Mortal Cup? Was that easy for me?

I only wanted to verify whether the Mortal Cup was real. How did it end up getting shoved back into the Tarot Cards?

Li Feng had no interest in Valentine’s emotional turmoil. He simply swept his gaze around the room.

Seeing that only Hodge and Valentine were in the room, while the hidden Mortal Cup sat openly on the table tempting him, Li Feng immediately cast Time Stop.

Under the combined tactics of invisibility and a surprise attack, Valentine and Hodge, who were already weaker than Li Feng, only had time to notice an uninvited guest in the room before Li Feng imprisoned them in Time Stop.

Seeing that the ambush had succeeded, Li Feng did not drop his invisibility. He first slipped the Tarot Cards into his pocket, then ran over to Valentine and efficiently extracted his memories.

Next, Li Feng altered both men’s memories, making them believe that the Mortal Cup was still inside the Tarot Cards. As for the Tarot Cards, they were somewhere in a corner of the room. They could search for them slowly themselves.

After finishing everything, Li Feng flew into the air above the academy, released the Dementors, and quietly waited for the demonic feast to arrive. Meanwhile, he began reviewing Valentine’s memories.

After a long while, having finished reviewing them, Li Feng learned that the Mortal Cup had two main functions.

First, just as Rosie had said, the Mortal Cup could separate the consciousness hidden within Angel Blood, ensuring that those who drank the blood from the cup would not be driven mad.

Second, the Mortal Cup could continuously purify Angel Blood.

It was precisely because of this ability to purify blood that the Mortal Cup had been able to keep creating Shadowhunters over the course of thousands of years.

After all, over those thousands of years, who knew how many people had poured their own blood into the cup? Without the ability to purify it, the Angel Blood inside would have long since been contaminated by human blood. Forget creating Shadowhunters—being able to grant ordinary people supernatural power would already have been impressive.

Likewise, after reviewing Valentine’s memories, Li Feng had no choice but to admit that he admired him.

The Mortal Cup, as a cup containing Angel Blood, represented holiness itself and possessed a certain degree of lethality against demons.

Yet Valentine had relied on the Mortal Cup’s abilities to separate consciousness and purify blood to forcibly pour demonic blood, which was incompatible with angels, into the cup.

Then Valentine drank that blood, stripped of demonic consciousness but retaining demonic power, thereby gaining the ability to control demons while preventing the angelic and demonic bloodlines within his body from clashing.

Seeing this, Li Feng found himself holding back a question. He really wanted to ask Valentine, Buddy, your angel-demon-human mixed bloodline doesn’t seem to be any stronger than Wangcai’s. How do you feel about that?

At the same time, a bold idea arose in Li Feng’s heart. If I drain all the Angel Blood from the Mortal Cup and pour Odin’s blood into it, would anyone who drank from it automatically become Odin’s child? Would that qualify them to compete with Thor for the throne?

What if it were Mephisto’s blood? Before his fantasy could go any further, Li Feng immediately shook his head and banished Mephisto’s name from his mind.

Although Mephisto’s blood suited Li Feng’s physique better, Ancient One was on Earth. Li Feng valued his life too much to dare drink Mephisto’s blood. If it attracted Ancient One and she beat the half-demon, half-human him senseless, what posture would he have to use to beg for mercy and save his life?

Just as Li Feng was pondering how to drain the Angel Blood from the Mortal Cup and what kind of blood to replace it with, he suddenly caught the rotten stench of demons drifting through the air.

Li Feng scratched his head, reined in his wandering thoughts, and watched the Dementors hunt demons with great interest.

Whether Valentine was furious because he could not find the Mortal Cup in the room, or whether his domineering aura had flared up, the number of demons he summoned was somewhat excessive—so many that the Dementors could not fully intercept the overwhelming horde.

Li Feng saw quite a few demons break through the Dementors’ blockade and rush into the academy to wreak havoc.

In consideration of Hodge providing him with food and lodging, Li Feng shouted in Necrolanguage, "Wangcai, lead some of the Dementors into the academy and kill every demon."

"Yes, Master," Wangcai answered respectfully, immediately leading a small half of his kin into the academy.

As the Dementors charged into the academy, a dramatic scene unfolded within. Eric and the other Shadowhunters were being chased into miserable states by demons, while the demons were suffering under the Dementors’ relentless pursuit.

Later, Eric and the others realized that the Dementors, despite clearly being dark creatures, had no interest in humans. They completely ignored them and only hunted demons everywhere. This prompted Eric and the others to put on more clothes, endure the bone-piercing cold, and follow beside the Dementors as they watched the demons get devoured one by one.

Within the academy, Valentine was perhaps the most confused of all.

First, the Mortal Cup had vanished for no reason. Then, more than half of the demon army he had painstakingly summoned failed to appear. Fine, he could just assume some demons were busy and had no time to answer his summons. But what was with the remaining demons rapidly dwindling in number?

Did he, a human with both angelic and demonic bloodlines, not have any dignity left?

Yet he could not casually leave the room to investigate what was happening, because the hexagram summoning array was inside. The moment he left, someone would immediately destroy it. At that point, forget having a few demons break into the academy to help him. He would be lucky if even one demon appeared inside the academy.

The more Valentine thought about it, the more stifled he felt. Just as he wanted to smash something to vent his emotions, Jace crashed headfirst into the room.

Seeing the summoning array on the floor, made from swords, spears, blades, and clubs, Jace wasted no words. He pulled up a spear, intending to destroy the summoning array.

"Don’t move," Valentine immediately stopped him.

Only then did Jace notice someone else in the room. He turned toward the voice and said in shock, "Valentine."

Valentine gazed at Jace affectionately and called with a smile, "Jonathan."

Jace froze for a moment, then frowned. "How do you know my real name?"

You little brat, of course I know your real name. Valentine gave a faintly mocking smile. "Because I am your father."

As he spoke, Valentine explained that Jace’s memories had also been sealed, then removed the seal on Jace’s memories.

Based on those memories, Jace had already believed Valentine’s explanation.

But deep down, Jace refused to acknowledge Valentine as his father even if it killed him. Once he admitted that he was Valentine’s son, it meant that Clary, whom he had once loved so dearly, had become his sister.

Wasn’t that complete nonsense? Loving his own biological sister was neither protected by law nor accepted by society. He would only face the world’s scorn and contempt.

In short, in order to get a marriage certificate with Clary, Jace would rather die than admit Valentine was his father.

For that reason, Jace decided to beat Valentine into a brain-damaged wreck, or a fool incapable of caring for himself, to vent the unease and dissatisfaction in his heart.

If possible, it would be best to beat Valentine to death and preserve the secret of lovers eventually becoming siblings.
