Low-End Hulk
The success of the first three filled everyone with anticipation for Andrew.
James had transformed into "Hellfire," Yo-Yo had gained the ability to move at supersonic speed for the duration of a single heartbeat, and Skirts Raina had become a "prophet," an angel in the truest sense.
What kind of surprise would this psychologist bring?
Could the record of one-half be surpassed?
A few minutes later, Andrew was carried into the observation room. Everyone’s eyes focused on the old woman holding the Obelisk… the beautiful Blood Elf.
The old woman placed the Obelisk back into its case. Gently lifting her princess dress with both hands, eighteen wrinkles creased her stunningly beautiful face, and utter disbelief appeared in her expression. Her aged, gravelly voice rang out:
"Two-thirds. It consumed two-thirds!"
Jia Ying clenched her fists tightly.
That much?
The total amount of Terrigen Mist within every Obelisk was the same.
According to Afterlife’s records, the Terrigen Mist in one Obelisk was exactly the limit an Inhuman could absorb. It represented the limit of one’s potential.
Even the most powerful Inhuman could only absorb that much.
And in the history of the Inhumans—at least the history she knew of—there had only been two such cases:
The first was the very first Inhuman, "Hive."
He himself was a collection of parasites and possessed the greatest number of abilities in history:
He could project parasites from his hands or mouth, devouring all life around him;
He could heal himself by gnawing on targets. Even if his bones were blown apart, he could regenerate, and the more he ate, the stronger his physique became. At his peak, he could even withstand a nuclear blast head-on;
He could use parasites to attack or block attacks, and was immune to all forms of psychic assault and mind control;
He could likewise use parasites to control others. Those under his control could neither resist nor betray him;
He could inhabit other people’s bodies and gain all their memories, granting him knowledge and abilities beyond everyone else;
He possessed extremely high intelligence and learning ability. He could read dozens of books or watch dozens of TV dramas at once, while remembering every detail.
The second was Skye.
In Afterlife’s history, aside from Hive and Skye, Jia Ying herself had consumed the most Terrigen Mist.
But now, that record had finally been broken.
Old Wang smiled faintly.
He had high hopes for Andrew.
Although Andrew’s abilities could not compare to Skye’s or Black Bolt’s—he could neither blow up planets nor effortlessly kill hundreds of thousands, even millions, of people—he was only one tier below them. At his peak, he possessed strength measured in dozens of tons, nearly approaching Abomination’s.
Even among all Super Heroes, he could rank in the second tier.
Most importantly, he was the only one capable of resisting Hive’s control. He was also Hive’s true nemesis, the judge of all Inhumans, and could help others break free from Hive’s control.
Hive’s bane.
Limitless potential.
The more Terrigen Mist he absorbed, the less time he needed to wait.
Only half an hour later, all the black stone fragments fell away, and a terrifying monster appeared before everyone.
He stood over seven feet tall, with bluish-black skin, explosive muscles all over his body, and hair as hard as steel needles.
"Roar!"
The roar carried the savagery of a primordial age.
Looking at the wild beast before them, the Blood Elves all unconsciously took two steps back. They could feel terrifying pressure radiating from him, along with the threat of death.
Most Inhumans possessed stronger mental power than ordinary people and had a beast-like instinct for danger, especially Raina.
Her transformation had only given her negligible offensive power, not even enough to match a well-trained soldier. Yet in the presence of so many powerful people, she had never felt fear, because she knew very well that they would not harm her.
But the one before her was different.
He seemed to have lost his mind.
He could kill her at any moment!
"Run… now!" Andrew growled, his voice heavily restrained.
Struggle appeared on his face. He was clearly doing his best to suppress the wild desires in his heart, but as everyone knew, no matter how powerful the mind was, it still had to yield to the body. And besides…
At his core, Andrew was merely a psychologist in his forties. Though his mental strength far surpassed that of ordinary people and had been enhanced by his transformation, he still could not control the powerful ability he had suddenly acquired.
It was like a child holding a missile launcher. With the press of a button, he could destroy others—or destroy himself.
"Don’t act rashly, or you’ll regret it."
Old Wang shook his head gently. This psychologist really had crossed the line and could no longer control himself.
Objectively speaking, Andrew was already remarkable. If it had been an ordinary person, they would have become a self-destructive killing machine by now. Andrew could still barely restrain himself, which already made him stronger than 99.9 percent of the people in the world.
But unfortunately, it was still not enough.
"Skye stays. Everyone else, leave." Old Wang took a step back and stood behind Skye.
The original Andrew had absorbed only a tiny trace of the Terrigen Mist that served as a protective measure in Jia Ying’s Inhuman family records, yet he had already possessed strength beyond Hive’s and had been even stronger than Skye at the time.
Now, he had absorbed the Terrigen Mist from two-thirds of an Obelisk. His potential had been developed to its limit, giving him strength measured in dozens of tons. He was ten times more terrifying than the X-Men’s "beast," practically a low-end Hulk.
Other than Old Wang and Skye, everyone present was far weaker than him.
Everyone hurriedly left the observation room and entered another room to watch through the monitors.
Hellfire, who was being bound and disciplined by the Crimson Magic Belt, even had his mouth cinched shut and stuffed with a silk ball. He could only make muffled whimpering sounds. His saliva soaked the gag as he struggled desperately, his eyes full of terror and pleading:
If you’re running, at least take me with you!
Master Wang didn’t tell me to stay behind!
Other than the constantly writhing Crimson Magic Belt, no one paid him any attention.
Old Wang deliberately wanted this young man, who had no idea of the immensity of heaven and earth, to see what true power was. Young man, you know nothing about power.
Watching at such close range would leave a deeper impression and let him better experience Lash’s terror.
With this experience, he would surely become steady and mature. That was the little brother Old Wang wanted.
"I’ll leave him to you, Skye," Old Wang said softly.
Lash was not Hulk. Although he possessed strength measured in dozens of tons, there was no way he could break free from the Crimson Magic Belt’s binding discipline. Little Red had recently learned thousands of binding methods and knew the advantages and disadvantages of each one.
Once it bound someone, unless they possessed Hulk-level strength, Doctor of Kidney Deficiency’s magic, or Thor’s natural gifts, it would be difficult to break free. Even Ant-Man had no hope—
Who didn’t know how to grow and shrink?
The reason Old Wang had not let Little Red act was because Lash needed an outlet.
Deep in this psychologist’s heart, decades of negative emotions had accumulated, suppressed for decades.
And after Agent Mei dumped him a year ago, he had long been on the verge of losing control.
What he needed most now was release.
Only by venting his negative emotions through battle and entering the sage-like state of no thought, no desire, and no craving could he return to normal and undergo the next stage of discipline… training.
Old Wang had no interest in bullying such a weak little brother. Skye was the most suitable choice.
As her physique strengthened and her proficiency improved, her abilities had grown ever more powerful. Ordinary enemies had no way to force out her limits. In this cramped space, Lash, who was renowned for combat power, might barely be enough.
"Leave it to me."
Skye stepped forward and raised her hands.
"Roar!"
Lash finally could no longer suppress the wildness in his heart. His eyes turned bloodshot as he lunged at Skye.
