Luck
A sleek silver convertible sports car weaved continuously through traffic, showcasing its driver’s superb skill.
The fierce wind against their faces brought a different kind of high-speed thrill.
Tony Stark thoroughly enjoyed the feeling. Braving the wind, he shouted to Xu Yue beside him,
"How about it? As long as you work for me, this car will be yours from now on, and the check I promised before is still valid!"
At that speed, Tony’s deliberately raised voice sounded somewhat bizarre.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Xu Yue naturally understood Tony Stark’s erratic personality well enough.
Originally, he had been considering how to approach Tony—whether he should wait until Afghanistan and save him there. Doctor Inson, who died saving Tony, had clearly had a tremendous impact on Tony’s heart. He was the equivalent of Spider-Man’s dead uncle. With Xu Yue’s abilities, taking his place would not be difficult, and that approach would undoubtedly yield the greatest progress.
But after weighing it briefly, he gave up on the idea.
The waters in this Mission Space ran deep, and preparing for it would take rather too long. It would be better to cut straight to the point.
The first thing Tony did after escaping was eat a hamburger. And Obadiah Stane, the villain from Iron Man I, had used an air-delivered pizza to get into Tony Stark’s home and fish for information.
In other words…
Tony Stark was actually a foodie…
And since he was a foodie, there was no reason Xu Yue could not win him over.
One explosive-cheese pizza was enough for the guy to kick aside his temporary ** plans for the evening and drag Xu Yue into his car.
Of course, Xu Yue understood that food alone had merely given him an opportunity to get close to Tony.
With Tony’s arrogance, Xu Yue would only be treated as a chef hired with money. At most, he would become a subordinate on the level of Tony’s close friend and lackey Happy, and that would require him to work tirelessly without complaint. If he were a beautiful woman, there might be the tiniest chance of reaching Pepper Potts’s status, though the odds would still be extremely low.
Either way, Tony Stark would have to remain at the center.
Clearly, that was not worthwhile for Xu Yue.
If Tony Stark could bring him enormous benefits, he would not mind, but Tony’s value did not reach that level.
Therefore, the most appropriate way for them to interact was as "friends" or "partners."
"Mr. Stark, I did not come to see you for money."
Sitting in the passenger seat, Xu Yue spoke in a voice that, like Tony’s, had become bizarre in the wind.
"Oh, I’ve heard that line many times."
Tony was clearly quite immune to such words, just like all those women who slept with him and claimed they were not after his money.
Someone had approached him voluntarily, catered to his tastes, and brought him food unlike anything he had ever enjoyed. If they claimed they had no ulterior motive or purpose, he would never believe them.
Xu Yue naturally understood that as well, so he continued in an exceedingly serious tone,
"Mr. Stark, I came only to beg you not to manufacture such destructive weapons anymore. You are different from the other arms dealers. You are a genius through and through. The weapons you have created have already shattered the existing balance. If this continues, they may very well directly ignite a war."
It had to be said, running into a Meituan delivery guy on the road and then having him come over to discuss world peace with you was quite the shift in tone. Even Tony Stark’s face went blank with confusion.
Why did this feel like something was off?
He even had to pull the speeding sports car over to the roadside and take a moment to process it, lest something go wrong.
"Sorry, the wind was too loud just now. Maybe I didn’t hear you clearly. Are you saying you came to see me just to persuade me not to manufacture weapons anymore? That the weapons I make could start a world war? Destroy world peace?"
Tony Stark uncertainly confirmed it with Xu Yue again, only to receive a solemn nod.
"Oh, that request really caught me off guard. You mean that if you want to work for me, I have to shut down Stark Industries’ weapons manufacturing division? Just to hire you as my chef?"
Tony pinched the bridge of his nose, apparently still trying to process it.
"No, you misunderstood. Even if you shut down the weapons division, I would not become your chef. I came this time purely to persuade you."
Xu Yue corrected Tony’s misunderstanding again without the slightest surprise.
Tony was already becoming numb to it. This guy apparently intended to use nothing but his mouth to make him shut down Stark Industries’ most profitable division. Was he mentally disabled? What a waste of such culinary skill.
"Then why don’t you go find other arms dealers? Like Justin Hammer?"
"Because ordinary arms dealers have a reason to exist. They keep the world balanced in terms of military power, and at most there will be localized, small-scale conflicts. Those cannot be stopped. But you are different. You are a genius. If this continues, you will easily break that balance."
Xu Yue wore an utterly earnest expression.
"All right, then in what capacity are you saying this to me? Guardian of world peace?"
"Allow me to formally introduce myself. My name is Xu Yue. I am a superhero driven by interest. Protecting world peace is, of course, one of my responsibilities."
Xu Yue did not deny Tony’s words in the slightest. He turned toward Tony from the passenger seat and held out his hand, seemingly intending to shake hands…
"Get lost~"
Left by the roadside in the suburbs, Xu Yue watched the sports car’s taillights recede into the distance. Smiling, he waved at the rearview mirror.
If he wanted greater efficiency, it was better to leave an impression through something more forceful. Once you returned from Afghanistan, you would definitely remember me…
Tony Stark drove his sports car, glancing at the guy in the rearview mirror who was still waving at him. His face was full of frustration.
He had finally picked up a beautiful girl tonight, only to ditch her and pick up a lunatic instead.
A superhero driven by interest? Had he read too many comics? Was he some kind of Delivery Man?
Still, some of what he said had pleased Tony. Yeah, all the other arms dealers were ordinary people. Only a genius like him could possibly break the balance.
It actually sounded like it made a little sense. In the future, he should perhaps be a bit more careful and avoid making anything too far ahead of its time. Haha, after all, he was a genius…
"Captain, look, it’s that guy. He got dumped by the side of the road."
An old secondhand car came racing down the road at street-racing speed, trailing a cloud of pitch-black exhaust. The Reincarnator in the passenger seat spotted the yellow-clad figure by the roadside with sharp eyes.
"Haha, I told you Tony Stark was hard to approach. This guy was really naive!"
When the captain saw Xu Yue, a smile appeared on his face as well.
But even so, this was a rival who had set his sights on Tony Stark. With the other party alone, it would be best to eliminate this threat!
And preferably, they could force him to reveal the method he had used to approach Tony Stark earlier.
A lone Reincarnator…
"Block him!"
"Understood!"
"Captain, should we test his strength first?"
"Hmph, idiot. Anyone who sets their sights on Tony Stark and is interested in the Iron Man suit definitely isn’t a big shot. The big shots have already formed their own power systems and would not make special changes just for him. As elites among Veteran Reincarnators, even if we are unlucky enough to run into an Elite Reincarnator, we can still retreat safely in a four-on-one fight. So there is no need to worry at all!"
As he spoke, he had already driven up and stopped in front of Xu Yue. Sitting in the driver’s seat, he slowly put on his gloves and revealed a savage grin.
"And I don’t think our luck will be that bad."
