Mind Dimension, Anchored!

With the help of the Adam Cards of Love and Hate, Adam’s research into the Mind Dimension had advanced by leaps and bounds.

Once the Mind Dimension was anchored, Adam’s mind would no longer age. It would remain forever in adolescence, the period of greatest creativity and drive.

His emotions would not grow numb, nor would he lose his curiosity about the world…

Though that adolescent chuunibyou streak would be fixed in place as well, Adam did not think that was necessarily a bad thing.

Thus, it was only natural for the Mind Dimension to become his first anchoring target.

Inside an immensely spacious safehouse that had been thoroughly cleansed of even a speck of clutter, Kero and Suppi revealed their true forms and stood at opposite corners of the square room.

Boom—

The tip of the Wand of Darkness lightly touched the ground, and a complex magic circle dozens of meters in radius unfurled beneath Adam’s feet. The sun and moon at the two ends of the circle happened to fall beneath Kero and Suppi’s feet.

Kero and Suppi narrowed their eyes. In their vision, with Adam at its center, the whole world seemed to become brighter and more colorful. They hurriedly shut their eyes and calmed themselves.

That was because within this area, the Mind Dimension had become extraordinarily active under the magic circle’s influence, even affecting the Material Dimension to some extent. As the saying went, appearances arose from the heart; the power of the mind truly could influence material perceptions to a degree.

If someone were to intrude into the magic circle now, all sorts of emotions and thoughts would likely spiral out of control at once, plunging them straight into utter madness.

Huh? Didn’t that mean this magic circle came with a Sanity Loss effect? Could it be used to create things like Outer Gods or ancient gods?

That fleeting spark of inspiration vanished in an instant, stored away with the other ideas that arose during the process to be reviewed one by one after everything was over. Adam closed his eyes and focused all his attention on establishing the anchor.

Once the anchor was set, Adam’s future mental state would be fixed accordingly. There was no room for even the slightest carelessness.

Adam had to meticulously wrap up every aspect of himself in the Mind Dimension, bit by bit, without overlooking anything, then use a specific spell to turn it into his anchor.

Hummm—

Centered on Adam, a roar that did not exist in the Material Dimension spread in every direction. It seemed to explode directly within the sea of the subconscious, causing even the thoughts of the nearby Kero and Suppi to stagnate for a time.

Perhaps only an instant had passed, or perhaps a very long time had gone by. Adam slowly opened his eyes, looking no different from before.

But if the senses of the Material Dimension were blocked off, and perception of the Mind Dimension were likened to sight, then amid that world of tangled thoughts and emotions, another Adam could be seen standing there, identical to his Material Dimension self.

"Is this what it feels like to anchor the Mind Dimension?"

Adam examined his condition and spoke with some surprise.

"Is it because I’ve studied too many creatures of the Mind Dimension? Why do I feel like I didn’t just set an anchor in the Mind Dimension, but… became a two-dimensional creature of matter and mind?"

According to the original plan, the Mind Dimension anchor should have been somewhat similar to Voldemort’s Horcruxes. Adam had indeed drawn upon part of the Horcrux creation process.

Yet Adam’s current state seemed to be a little… different from Voldemort’s.

He could directly perceive everything in the Mind Dimension just as people used their five senses in the Material Dimension. It even seemed that he could perform certain actions that affected only the Mind Dimension without involving the Material Dimension at all…

Voldemort probably could not do that, could he?

Leaving everything else aside, Adam had truly become a natural Legilimens now, and one that saw straight to the essence. Even the disguises of Occlumency had nowhere to hide before him.

If Voldemort had possessed such an ability, he would not have been deceived so thoroughly by Professor Snape that it cost him his life.

After some analysis, Adam concluded that Horcrux creation was simply too crude. Using a soul to tear apart one’s own soul only produced an anchor that could not escape the Material Dimension and remained relatively shallow within the Mind Dimension.

It would be downright embarrassing to say so.

His upgraded anchor, on the other hand, was different. If it was not stronger than a Horcrux, it would be an insult to all the Obscuruses and Dementors that had contributed their share of power to his research!

"Huh, then could I further refine my anchor in the Material Dimension as well and make myself even stronger?"

An idea struck Adam, but he immediately dismissed it.

"No, no, forget it. The anchor in the Mind Dimension could be strengthened because, as a human, I was complete in the Mind Dimension, yet still less complete than the Mind Dimension creatures I had studied."

"But humans are creatures of the Material Dimension. To gain further enhancement, I would probably have to discard some parts and adopt other things to fill the gaps—in other words, modify my body."

"And with things like body modification, if I don’t have a clear goal or a definite path, experimenting on myself could easily go wrong. Failing to become stronger would be the least of it. If I turned myself into Three Flowers Gather on Crown and ascended into immortality, that would be quite a spectacle…"

As for physical strength, Adam already had the support of Clow Cards like the Power Card and Fight Card. There was no need to do anything extra. Acquiring a body with Longevity and Agelessness step by step would be enough.

After anchoring the Mind Dimension, Adam’s thinking speed had increased enormously. All those doubts, analyses, hesitations, and decisions had taken only a single second.

"Kero, Suppi…"

Adam looked up and was surprised to find Kero and Suppi in a semi-conscious state. And from the perspective of the Mind Dimension, why did it look so much like his handiwork?

But he had not made a move since gaining this ability… Oh, when he had just completed the anchoring earlier, he might have unconsciously done something. Could that have been when he did it?

Ahem. Then it was fine.

With a snap of his fingers, Kero and Suppi immediately woke up and looked at Adam.

"Huh? Adam, are you done?"

"Mm, it’s complete…"

Adam observed them and found that Kero and Suppi’s memories of the anchoring process seemed to have been affected slightly. With a twitch of his fingers, he smoothed out those faint ripples, and the two little ones’ memories of that period instantly became clear.

"Oh! It’s already done? It doesn’t look any different from before…"

Kero curiously circled Adam several times, then reached out with his paws and prodded him a few times. No matter how he looked, nothing seemed to have changed.

Seeing Kero like that, Adam suddenly remembered something and leaped into the form of a Maine Coon.

The Mind Dimension anchor had not transformed into a cat along with him… But that was not a big problem.

Adam closed his eyes. A few seconds later, his Mind Dimension anchor also became a cat, completely identical to his Material Dimension form without the slightest flaw.

During this process, Adam sorted through the abilities he had newly acquired.

Huh? Wait a second, these abilities… seemed a little familiar, didn’t they?
