Morning jogging is not corporal punishment

Chen Mo walked up to the podium and looked at the three people standing on it, feeling conflicted.

Among these three, only Jiang Cheng could be considered obedient.

As for Wei Yan and Li Shen, one was a rebel who had sabotaged his settlements multiple times. Although he had shown signs of turning over a new leaf, what had happened in the past was already done. Thinking about it still made his heart ache—all that lost money!

And then there was this Li Shen, who had been causing trouble for him time and time again lately. Corner Pet Park, and Boring Short Videos—especially Boring Short Videos, which had already become the highest-earning company within the Group.

Jiang Cheng was indeed obedient, but he was too obedient. He didn't just listen to him; he even listened to the words of these troublemakers.

Sigh!

Chen Mo sighed helplessly, then took the trophies brought by the woman behind him and handed them out to the three people in front of him.

"Thank you, President Chen."

"Thank you, President Chen."

"Thank you, President Chen."

Wei Yan, Li Shen, and Jiang Cheng thanked him one by one.

Chen Mo cast a faint glance at the three of them and reluctantly took a Group photo with them.

"Thank you, President Chen, for presenting the awards. Next is the awards ceremony for the top three employees in each athletic event, divided into the men's Group, women's Group, and senior Group. The first item is for the winners of the 50-meter dash."

"Employees whose names I call may come up to the stage to receive their awards."

On the commentary stage, Ye Feng spoke slowly.

Chen Mo returned to the spectator seats after presenting the awards and watched as each employee went up to the stage to receive their awards.

Then, the award-winning employees would give their speeches.

As time passed, one employee after another happily walked onto the podium to take the medals that belonged to them.

However, he soon discovered someone going up to receive an award who he found unbelievable: Wang Maonian!

He was very familiar with this guy. He was the star chef he had recruited at the very beginning, and now he was the Minister of Tomorrow Cafeteria. Furthermore, Wang Maonian personally cooked his meals every day, so he could be considered his personal chef.

However, since Shen Rou usually went to the cafeteria to get food for her, he hadn't seen Wang Maonian for a long time.

Seeing him today came as a surprise.

In his original impression, Wang Maonian's image was that of a 180-jin man with a big belly, and at the beginning, every morning run left him so exhausted he couldn't even walk.

But now, he looked to be around 140 jin, and that big belly was long gone.

That was fine; it could be considered a successful weight loss.

But he hadn't expected the other party to win the 1500-meter and 3000-meter long-distance running championships.

This guy… the change was too huge.

"I wonder, Minister Wang, do you have any thoughts on winning the 1500-meter and 3000-meter long-distance running championships?"

The commentator held the microphone and asked.

Listening to the commentator's question, Wang Maonian looked down at the two gold medals around his neck. Infinite emotions welled up in his heart as he looked at the Group employees in the stadium.

"I want to tell my story. Now that Mingri Group is constantly growing and has added many new faces, I'm afraid only the very early employees know what I used to look like."

"Let me first say what I used to be like. I used to weigh 180 jin, and my belly stuck out to this point. If I walked a little further, I would feel tired, let alone running."

As he spoke, Wang Maonian reached out to gesture at his body shape.

At this moment, all the employees in the spectator seats and on the stadium floor fell silent, quietly listening to Wang Maonian's narration.

"And the reason why I can win the long-distance running championship now is all because of President Chen. Ever since the company hadn't yet been established as a Group and was just a small Garment factory, there had been a morning run policy."

"I was the lead runner back then. To be honest, it was really tiring, and I struggled on the edge of giving up every day. To put it bluntly, the reason why I was able to persist was that President Chen gave too much. Those benefits were things I couldn't get anywhere else."

"So I persisted, and I am very glad for my persistence. I am also very grateful for the treatment President Chen gave me."

"Speaking of this, everyone might be a bit confused as to why I am telling you this."

"The reason I am telling you this is that when I was doing the morning run, I heard some dissatisfied voices. Although not many, I did indeed hear them."

"Some people said this is corporal punishment, some said it is meaningless, and some complained… and other negative remarks. Some people even brought these negative emotions into their work, affecting their work for the day."

"This makes my heart ache."

"And what I want to say is that morning runs are not corporal punishment; they are a tradition of the company. President Chen worries that everyone sits at their workstations every day and that their bodies aren't getting effective exercise, so it is a form of care to prevent your bodies from entering a sub-healthy state."

Wang Maonian's emotions suddenly became a bit agitated as he said this.

"You must know that this morning run does not occupy your private time; it occupies working hours, and you are paid as usual. What do you have to complain about? If you think the work is not good, or the morning run is too tiring, you can just go and change to another job, okay?"

"There are many jobs outside that don't require morning runs or exercise waiting for you, but what will you have to face? You will face endless overtime. The better ones give a little overtime pay, and the worse ones don't even have overtime pay. There are no such welfare subsidies, and there is high-intensity competitive pressure."

"To say something unpleasant, with your current abilities, can you find a company with better benefits than Mingri Group after leaving Mingri Group?"

"Is there? … No."

"So people should know how to be grateful. I want to ask, those old employees present who have worked in the Group for more than half a year, what changes have there been in your current physical fitness compared to before?"

"Can any employee answer this?"

Wang Maonian waited quietly as he said this.

Inside the stadium, there was a moment of silence, and then, one after another, various employees began to speak up.

"My body has become better and stronger."

"Yes, some of the minor ailments I used to have are gone."

"I used to have insomnia, but now I'm fine. I sleep like a log."

"Hahaha, I used to have poor stamina and couldn't last long, but now, my wife loves me even more, hahaha."

"Exactly, how can morning runs be corporal punishment? It's President Chen's care for our health!"

"…"

Wang Maonian listened to the old employees' speeches and smiled with gratification.

"Have you all heard? This is the purpose of President Chen requiring company employees to have morning runs. So what I want to say is, if you want to work well in the Group, then treat morning runs correctly."

"If you insist on thinking that the morning run at Mingri Group is unacceptable, then you can leave. No one is forcing you to stay here."

"That is all I want to express. Morning runs are not corporal punishment. My weight change—from feeling tired after walking for a while to now being able to win a long-distance running championship—is proof."
