Mutation
America, White House!
"Because Wakanda’s banquet was full of chili peppers and you couldn’t handle the spice, you decided to surrender to me? Sylvie, do you think I’m an idiot who got kicked in the head by a donkey?"
Looking at Sylvie, who had come to surrender, Old Tony asked with an expression that said she had to be kidding, "Even if you’re making excuses, couldn’t you come up with one that sounds a little more believable?"
"Of course you’re an idiot. Everyone knows American presidents are all idiots."
Sylvie said matter-of-factly, "By the way, Tony Stark said that American presidents are all idiots before he became Iron Man. He even said it twice."
Old Tony’s face darkened slightly. This was absolutely embarrassing history.
"I didn’t expect you to know me so well."
Old Tony snorted and asked, "Let’s assume you really want to surrender. What use are you to me? Why should I accept your surrender?"
Sylvie said, "I know everything that happened in the battle between Blood God and Thanos. Do you think that’s useful?"
Old Tony’s eyes lit up. "You’re willing to tell me?"
"Obviously. Why else would I come here?"
Sylvie said, "I want the position and authority that originally belonged to Loki. Any problem with that?"
"No problem."
Old Tony impatiently said, "Hurry up and tell me how Blood God defeated Thanos."
Old Tony desperately wanted to know the answer to that question. Honestly, he had been unable to sleep these past few days because of it—he had no sense of security.
"Listen carefully…"
Sylvie did not waste words and began recounting the battle from several days ago. However, she did not go into too much detail and intentionally or unintentionally omitted some key points. After all, she had come to serve as insurance, not as an undercover agent.
"Fair Space, capable of suppressing even a Creator God? No wonder Blood God dared send him over. No wonder he called himself Invincible King."
Old Tony suddenly understood and repeatedly pressed Sylvie for details. Sylvie did not indulge him. Whenever there was something she did not want to say, she simply claimed she had forgotten.
Old Tony was so angry he wanted to hit someone. No matter which Loki it was, they were all equally annoying.
"You’ll take over Loki’s position."
Old Tony stood and prepared to head to the laboratory to improve the Anti-Blood God Armor. Sylvie’s intelligence might have been incomplete, but it was extremely valuable.
"Fine. Come to think of it, I’ve never been part of the upper ranks in my life. It’s time to have some fun."
Sylvie said excitedly. America was not her home anyway, so it did not matter if she ruined it.
Oh, right, Thor had said Asgard was short on supplies. Should she take some from America while she was at it? America had plundered the entire world, after all. It was rich beyond measure.
Hearing Sylvie’s words, Old Tony was somewhat speechless. Just as he was about to say something, Friday’s voice sounded over the broadcast. "Mr. Stark, something is wrong. Please watch this video."
As Friday spoke, a holographic projection appeared. In it, two Spider-Men were fighting a group of strange people.
That was right, strange people. They included a giant green lizard, a green goblin riding a glider, a blue man crackling with electricity, a strange person made entirely of sand, and a fat man with four steel claws growing from his back.
These strange people were extremely powerful. The two Spider-Men were no match for them and were sent flying everywhere. The surrounding civilians screamed as they fled.
It was worth noting that both Spider-Men were clearly wearing cheap knockoff suits. Not only did they lack any special functions, but their quality was terrible as well, offering virtually no protection—within a short time, both Spider-Men had already suffered multiple wounds.
Old Tony cried out in disbelief, "Spider-Man and supervillains? This is Spider-Man’s future storyline! How is this possible? Strange didn’t cast any spells, so why did they appear?"
"Mr. Stark, according to our analysis, the appearance of these super heroes and supervillains from other universes may be related to Kang the Conqueror."
Friday said, "They have begun making their move."
"Kang the Conqueror?"
Old Tony and Sylvie both gasped. Sylvie immediately placed her hand on her wrist and discreetly rubbed her bracelet, using her mental abilities to send everything she had just seen back to Wakanda.
My first day as an undercover agent, and I’m already useful.
Old Tony immediately said, "Friday, I’ll go deal with these people right away. Monitor the entire world and search for similar dimensional travelers. Also, have the New York police evacuate civilians from the scene. Those villains have no humanity."
Friday replied, "Yes, Mr. Stark."
Before leaving, Old Tony seemed to recall something and said to Sylvie, "Stay in the White House and handle matters for me. Don’t leave."
"Fine."
Sylvie nodded indifferently. The intelligence had already been sent out anyway.
Wakanda. Upon receiving the intelligence, Wang Bert immediately had Black Panther use satellites to livestream New York’s situation.
"Those appearances should belong to the old version of Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man."
Watching the scene on the light screen, Wang Bert sighed. "Back then, people liked underdogs making a comeback, so both Spider-Men were poor. Their uniforms would even fade when washed.
"By comparison, the Spider-Man of this universe is much happier. He has a rich sponsor, and his suit cost tens of millions of dollars the moment he appeared."
Everyone was utterly confused. "Bert, what are you talking about?"
"Just complaining. Don’t mind me."
Wang Bert smiled. "They’re Spider-Men from parallel universes. Their abilities are similar to Peter’s, though there are some differences. For example, the old version of Spider-Man can produce webbing naturally, without relying on web-shooters."
Spider-Man looked utterly incredulous. "He can produce webbing himself?"
"Parallel universes?"
Everyone froze upon hearing that. Tony pointed at the little blue man on the screen and asked, "Bert, is that Max? Why is he attacking Spider-Man? Aren’t he and Spider-Man good friends?"
"He is indeed Electro, Max. The reason he became enemies with Spider-Man is because his world did not have me."
Wang Bert said, "By the way, the other villains are Lizard Doctor, Old Green Goblin, Sandman, and Dr. Octopus. Uh, three out of the four are doctors. Are doctors that worthless in America?"
"This happened on the Sacred Timeline, but they appeared after I cast a spell. I haven’t cast any spells now, nor do I intend to."
As Strange spoke, he glared at Spider-Man. Spider-Man felt wronged. I haven’t even done anything yet. Thinking of something, Spider-Man hurriedly asked, "Mr. Wang, could my aunt be in danger?"
Wang Bert said, "Don’t worry. Nick Fury had someone bring your aunt to Wakanda two days ago. She’ll be fine."
Spider-Man was dumbfounded. "My aunt was brought to Wakanda? How did I not know?"
"You’ll have to ask yourself that, Peter. There’s nothing wrong with being righteous and selfless, but you can’t forget your own family."
Wang Bert did not say more. Spider-Man nodded awkwardly. He really had not paid enough attention to his aunt. There was no helping it—she had always taken care of him, rather than the other way around.
Strange asked, "Blood God, after the Infinity Stones self-destructed, storms filled the space outside the universe. Even you can’t enter. So why can those Spider-Men and supervillains enter?"
"First, let me clarify that it’s not that I can’t enter. It’s that if I forced my way in, half the universe would be destroyed."
Wang Bert said, "Under such circumstances, only Kang the Conqueror from parallel universes could send the Spider-Men into this universe. In other words, our ultimate big boss has begun acting."
"Kang the Conqueror?"
Everyone’s expressions became somewhat grave. This one—no, this group—was not to be trifled with. Their threat was no less than Thanos’s.
Tony asked, "Bert, what should we do now?"
"Tony, develop an instrument that can detect energy from other universes. Then work with Black Panther and use satellites to inspect the entire world, searching for other visitors from alternate universes."
Wang Bert said, "I’ll go to New York and bring the two Spider-Men back, so Old Tony doesn’t capture them."
"Fine, I’ll start researching immediately. Shuri, assist me."
Tony immediately ran to the laboratory to begin researching. Strange asked, "Blood God, what should I do?"
Wang Bert said, "Take the Kamar-Taj sorcerers and sense the dimensional space. Visitors from other universes would not appear for no reason. There must be a problem with dimensional space."
"Fine."
Strange nodded and left. Spider-Man said, "Blood God, can you take me to New York with you? I have Spider-Sense with them. They’ll trust me."
"Fine."
Wang Bert did not waste words. He took Spider-Man and vanished.
New York. The civilians watching the battle in Times Square were utterly bewildered. Hadn’t Spider-Man become a wanted criminal? Why had he appeared in New York again, and why were there two of him at once? And what was with those villains? They looked terrifying. New York’s citizens could not help recalling the fear of being dominated by supervillains. The feng shui in New York was truly terrible.
While dodging Old Green Goblin’s Rotating Flying Knives, the old version of Spider-Man shouted, "Mr. Osborn, let’s stop fighting for now. This world is unfamiliar. It isn’t our original world."
"I know. During the crossing, I saw images that belonged to the future. I will indirectly die by your hand, and my son will also be killed because of you. Peter Parker, I’m going to kill you and end all this."
Standing on his glider, Old Green Goblin shouted as he threw a Pumpkin Bomb at the old version of Spider-Man. The old version of Spider-Man swung away on his webbing, and the Pumpkin Bomb slammed into a wall and exploded with a boom, sending large amounts of glass and bricks tumbling down below.
"Mr. Osborn is that terrifying?"
The Amazing Spider-Man glanced over and clicked his tongue inwardly. At that moment, a bolt of electricity appeared before him and punched him hard, sending him flying. It was Electro, Max.
Max coldly said, "I saw the future too. In the future, you’ll overload me with an enormous amount of electricity until I explode. Peter Parker, I won’t give you that chance, you bastard who betrayed his friend."
"This makes no sense. Why can’t we see anything, while you villains can see the future?"
The Amazing Spider-Man dodged Max’s pursuit and kicked him flying. Then, clinging to a wall, he shouted at Dr. Octopus, "Doctor, we’re on the same side."
"We are not on the same side. I don’t want to die again."
Dr. Octopus used his mechanical tentacles to grab a car and hurl it at The Amazing Spider-Man. The Amazing Spider-Man hurriedly leaped to another building to evade it. It seemed Dr. Octopus was still under the mechanical tentacles’ control.
"Stop wasting time. Go all out and kill these two. This is an unfamiliar world. No one knows what will happen next."
Old Green Goblin shouted. The villains all nodded. Just then, space flashed with light, and Old Tony appeared in the sky. He coldly said, "I am Tony Stark, president of America. I am now placing you under arrest for causing trouble in a public place."
"Tony Stark, president of America?"
Everyone was astonished. Their worlds also had Tony Stark, so they knew perfectly well what kind of bastard Tony Stark was. They had not expected him to become president in this world.
The people of this world were truly unfortunate.
"The president personally coming to the front lines to enforce the law? This world really is strange."
Max mocked. Then he seemed to think of something, and his eyes lit up. "Maybe I can become president too. Then everyone will pay attention to me."
Upon seeing Old Tony, the two Spider-Men excitedly shouted, "Mr. Stark, hurry and arrest them! They’re all bad people."
"You are criminals as well."
Old Tony said coldly. Then, a large number of Drone Armors flew in from all around and surrounded everyone.
"We’re criminals too?"
The two Spider-Men were dumbfounded. The Amazing Spider-Man said unhappily, "I’m a good friend to the people of New York. I’m a protector of the neighborhood. How could I be a criminal?"
Old Tony said, "If I say you are, then you are, because I’m the president. If you need official documents, I can immediately sign wanted notices for you."
The two Spider-Men were rendered speechless. He was the president—what could they do? They were utterly hopeless too.
"Tony Stark, I like your personality. We can cooperate."
Old Green Goblin looked at the Drone Armors around them and shouted to Old Tony. The other villains all nodded. Villains bullying the weak and fearing the strong was perfectly normal.
"You aren’t qualified to cooperate with me. Your only fate is to be locked in the Deep Sea Prison."
Old Tony shouted, "Last chance. Surrender, or I will arrest you by force. I will not hold back in the process."
Everyone’s expressions were extremely ugly. This Tony Stark was far too overbearing. Old Green Goblin was about to say something when a portal appeared, and Wang Bert stepped through with Spider-Man.
Wang Bert mocked, "Old Tony, you’re becoming more and more like a villain."
"So what if I become a villain, as long as I can protect the world?"
Old Tony snorted. At the same time, the old version of Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man sensed something and both turned to look at Spider-Man.
The old version of Spider-Man quietly said to The Amazing Spider-Man, "Another Spider-Man. Huh, his suit looks really high-end."
"It looks like the kind we can’t afford."
The Amazing Spider-Man glanced at his own slightly faded Spider-Man suit and said with envy, jealousy, and resentment.
"Yeah, we can’t afford it."
The old version of Spider-Man bitterly said, "I suddenly crossed into another world, so the pizza shop owner will definitely fire me. Looks like I’ll have to sell Spider-Man photos to the Daily Bugle again."
The Amazing Spider-Man said in surprise, "You sell photos too? I thought I was the only one that miserable. That editor-in-chief is simply inhuman. He chews me out every time."
In the blink of an eye, it was New Year’s Eve. I wish everyone a happy New Year’s Eve and a happy Lunar New Year. Also, I’ll be rather busy from the first to the third day of the New Year, so I’ll probably only be able to post one chapter a day. Sorry about that, everyone. Normal updates will resume on the fourth day. Enough said—I’m going to prepare for the New Year’s Eve dinner.
