“No, no, no, Senior Sister, the Giant Spirit! You go deal with the Giant Spirit!” the Demon of Anger shouted in a hurry.
Unfortunately, the Demon of Delusion had already shot out violently, transforming into a streak of light piercing the air, rushing straight ahead!
"Om, Mahavairocana, may all wishes be fulfilled, with boundless light and flames, illuminating the three thousand worlds."
"The righteous wheel of heavenly principles, illuminating the true suchness, with golden flames blazing, leaving no place for evil spirits in the ten directions to hide."
The Mahamayuri Giant Spirit chanted the grim divine mantra once more, and the Yata Mirror held in one of its arms immediately bloomed with endless, dazzling divine light.
—However, this solar divine light, which could even break Qi Xing's authority, simply passed through the Demon of Delusion's body without producing any effect at all.
For a moment, even though she had heard Qi Xing describe this scene earlier, even Xue Ning couldn't help but be stunned.
Such strong power of "Rejection"! Not even karma can grasp her; what kind of authority is this?
"Leave this one to me." Standing atop the Mahamayuri, Rin had already drawn the burning divine sword, Uriel.
In the void, she was seen leaping up to meet the Demon of Delusion's rushing figure, slashing out with her sword.
The Valkyrie's raging fire and the "silver coin's" power of Rejection collided with a boom above the pale surface of the moon!
Xue Ning shook her head, steered the Mahamayuri, and continued to charge toward the Demon of Anger on the ground.
On the lunar surface, the battle between the Cult Leader and the angel, and the two demon kings, had officially begun.
But let us turn to another matter and return to Qi Xing's side.
Carrying a large bag with Sasa sitting on his head, he activated the elemental form of the "Dominator" silver coin, transforming into a streak of violent lightning, and drilled straight into the wide-open passage of the Lunar Sanctuary.
Usually, first-time visitors to the Sanctuary must undergo inspection and guidance by the mages of the Hermes Society, but what Qi Xing and Sasa saw at this moment was merely a chaotic, gigantic library.
The room was filled with bookshelves everywhere, countless shelves arranged in subtle curves, layered upon one another, forming a concentric circle-like structure.
Beneath each layer of bookshelves were silver tracks, moving slowly and silently, as if stars circling the sun and moon, or like a gigantic, moving labyrinth, making it impossible to see the whole picture at a glance.
The bookshelves were towering and densely packed with books, the characters engraved upon them strange and ancient, extending upward all the way to the dome.
Interestingly, suddenly, another new visitor stumbled into the portal behind him.
It was a young mage who had broken in from somewhere unknown through a "dream," who froze for a moment, then immediately began shouting in excitement, yelling in a language Qi Xing couldn't understand, and rushed impatiently toward the infinite bookshelves.
At this point, even Qi Xing was a little curious: "How exactly does this system work?"
Currently, any visitor who enters through a dream can see the collection in the Lunar Sanctuary. But do they really have to memorize the entire book by heart to bring the knowledge back to the waking world? That would be too inefficient.
If the difficulty were that high, it would be impossible to spread effectively.
However, no sooner had Qi Xing finished this thought than he saw the boy, as if drawn by an invisible force, naturally and without hesitation find a book among the endless shelves—a book that exactly matched his "desire."
The light from the book immediately poured into his eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. In an instant, the boy's body seemed to be filled to the brim with light, his skin becoming almost transparent, with the meridians and bones inside his body looming faintly.
It was as if he were about to burst from the light, swaying unsteadily, as if he might explode at any moment—the boy walked tremblingly and stumbled toward the exit, returning to the material world.
For a moment, even Qi Xing was stunned, feeling a bit bewildered.
This is actually quite impressive.
What was even more incredible was that just as the light surged into the boy's eyes, nose, and mouth, a trail of black smoke was forced out of the boy's body and drifted upward.
Qi Xing looked up, following the black smoke, and saw that the dome at the top of the library was churning with a mass of pitch-black smoke, shrouding the entire library in a dull and oppressive atmosphere of nightmares.
Qi Xing really hadn't seen this kind of thing for the first time.
"…Isn't this the Greed Demon's trick?"
A condensation of desire extracted from the human body. Qi Xing had seen this kind of thing many times in northeastern Japan and Magic City Tokyo.
However, this mass of black desire floating at the top of the Lunar Sanctuary was deeper and more viscous than what Qi Xing had seen with the Greed Demon… except for the opposite color, it was almost like…
"…Very similar to that white, purulent, turbid substance in the Dream of All Living Beings?"
A seductive voice suddenly came from above the library. Qi Xing followed the sound and, sure enough, saw Papiyas sitting leisurely at the high point of the library.
He seemed to have just casually occupied the highest bookshelf, leaning randomly against the chair-back-like railing, his elbow propping up his cheek, his half-closed golden eyes carrying a hint of a smile, lazily looking down.
A dark blue coat and white clothes were open casually, setting off a particularly handsome figure. His long hair was tied high, but a few strands of ink-black hair fell loose, hanging casually by his shoulders and in front of his brows, revealing a faint sense of mockery in this lazy posture.
"Even if you've left your body and are only a spirit, you're still in this neither-male-nor-female state."
So Qi Xing raised his eyebrows and launched a direct personal attack.
Perhaps even Papiyas didn't expect Qi Xing to react like this right off the bat, and for a moment, he couldn't help but be stunned.
"You say you are Sasa's offspring. You also know about that disgusting, filthy white pus in the Dream of All Living Beings—besides you, I really haven't heard anyone else in this world mention this matter."
Qi Xing raised his eyebrows and continued to ask,
"So you really are the 'Savior' designed by Sasa to reset the board in order to prevent human desires from accumulating too much."
This question also caused Papiyas to show a look of surprise: "So, you really are… a 'Descender' from outside the world, not created by Mother."
"That's right." Qi Xing couldn't be bothered to hide it anyway,
"I am the god who descended from the heavens to save your absurd world that is on the verge of collapse. Do you have any objections?"
"None." Papiyas seemed to be amused instead,
"But I am also the savior of this universe itself, who descended into the world according to the agreement at this moment when even the 'Dharma-Ending' age is about to be destroyed—the Future Buddha, Maitreya."
"I am the savior predetermined by this universe 'itself,' born into the world to save all living beings."
"Master Leipu, you, a person from an 'outer universe,' coming to interfere in our universe's affairs without a word—is that not a bit… unreasonable?"
This universe's native savior.
The savior who descended from another world.
—So that's it, you are a god who descended from the sky to save us ignorant people!
But as an outsider god, by what right do you interfere with the karma of our universe? Isn't this interference by forces from outside the universe?
The causality of this land has its own destiny;
The karma of this world brooks no judgment from other realms.
If one speaks of saving the world, how can one cross boundaries to do so?
The future of this kalpa is to be decided by me—Maitreya, born from this universe and predetermined by its own nature.
I am the native Buddha-son, the orthodox of this realm;
The future of this realm should not be usurped by you.
…There was no need to continue; as soon as Qi Xing heard this routine, he knew what kind of nonsense Papiyas was trying to spout.
Are you f***ing trying this on me?
If it were the Qi Xing of a few months ago, he might have actually been stunned upon hearing this, and it might have been a bit difficult to answer.
But last month, he had just experienced the incident with Labyrinth Island and Xue Ning, and now he had actually let go of such concerns.
"Because I want to save it, so I save it. Why care about others?"
So now, Qi Xing laughed instead,
"Is saving the world done by talking?"
This remark finally made Papiyas narrow his eyes: "Acting recklessly, what reason is there in that?"
"Bodhisattva, do you really intend to save the world by reasoning?"
Qi Xing asked back, feigning surprise,
"Wow, that really is the Bodhisattva's way, isn't it? But I wonder, Bodhisattva, what kind of Dharma is that foul-smelling, thick lump of dung on your head used for?"
When Qi Xing wanted to be vicious, his speech was quite sarcastic.
However, somewhat to his surprise, Papiyas looked at Qi Xing coldly for a while but didn't get angry; instead, he laughed.
"What about you?" the Demon Bodhisattva asked back,
"Master Leipu, do you intend to use my foolish mother's chaotic divine power to save this absurd world?"
Oh my, this really hit Qi Xing's sore spot.
He had indeed doubted it, worried more than once: even if Sasa's crappy divine power could collect all thirty "silver coins" and even change the world, could it really fix this universe that was already riddled with long-standing abuses and loopholes?
But he wouldn't lose his nerve. Even though he was a bit unsure in his heart, Qi Xing still had to say: "How can you know without trying? Does the Bodhisattva have any better strategy?"
Unexpectedly, Papiyas actually raised his hand and pointed to the pitch-black, thick mud above his head: "What do you think that is, Master Leipu?"
"It's the desire you used this Lunar Sanctuary to extract from the people of the world…"
Speaking of this, Qi Xing realized it himself and noticed something was wrong.
—Papiyas hadn't even been up here for half a day; how could he have collected such a huge lump of black mud of desire? The concentration was even higher than that of the Greed Demon!
"This is the desire of all living beings from all over the world that I have personally collected while walking in the world for twenty-two years. In the last few hours, I have indeed added a portion using the Lunar Sanctuary, but the root remains what I have accumulated myself."
The Demon King of the Desire Realm smiled slightly,
"And this is the Lunar Sanctuary, a connection device built by ancient mages to read the endless knowledge in the Dream of All Living Beings."
"Just like a reservoir downstream, it cannot originally flow backward to interfere with the upstream, nor was it created for that purpose."
"But if the volume of water downstream is powerful to the extreme, gathering into a monstrous flood, impacting the source, and transforming the origin… how could it be completely impossible?"
Ah, coincidentally, this was exactly the plan Qi Xing had considered before.
There is no shortage of smart people in the world. The plan you considered, others can certainly consider too. Qi Xing had only just turned the idea around in his head, but Papiyas had already prepared for it for twenty-two years.
"Flowing upstream to wash away the filth in the Dream of All Living Beings, even the white pus accumulated for two thousand years can be washed away," he declared.
But Qi Xing still frowned: "But you are using black mud to wash away the white pus."
"So what if it's black mud?" Papiyas asked back. "The desires of all living beings are the wishes of all living beings. What is directed by the hearts of all living beings—do you have any objections?"
The wishes of all living beings—who do you think you are? Qi Xing didn't care about this rhetoric, at least he didn't care anymore.
But hearing this, he felt increasingly strange: If the black mud that Papiyas spent twenty years gathering and used the Lunar Sanctuary to collect from various places was the desire of all living beings… then what exactly was that white pus floating in the Dream of All Living Beings?
—Didn't Sasa say that it was "a projection of the indulgence, corruption, and depravity accumulated by the humans of this world over two thousand years. It is an egg reflected by the sensory pleasure desires of all mankind"?
Why does it seem so different?
[Don't keep entangled with it.] The Loli Evil God sitting on Qi Xing's head was finally impatient at this moment.
[Directive 0721, Giant Spirit "Maitreya" stop activity—was it really useless?]
"Since you already knew it was useless, Mother, why try again?" Papiyas replied with a sneer,
"Knowing full well that 99% of it is futile, yet still shamelessly clinging to a sliver of illusory chance, even going so far as to throw yourself under the crotch of that foreign man, fawning and surviving like a prostitute… Your self-abasement and lewdness truly surprise me, Mother."
Yikes. Although she had been beaten half to death by her brother, and although she had been spanked by Qi Xing, when had Sasa ever been called base and lewd by her own creation?
In an instant, she was stunned by what Papiyas said.
