Clark lay injured on the ground, watching the two battle with a tense heart and sweat beading on his forehead. It was no exaggeration to say that not only Metropolis, but the fate of the entire Earth rested on this battle. At first, seeing David and Brainiac evenly matched filled him with worry, because Clark knew David did not possess Brainiac's terrifying regenerative ability. His injuries would continue to accumulate. If this continued, the scales of victory would likely tip toward Brainiac.
