Obito and Rin Had Reached Third Base with Kakashi
The Mizukage’s office was terrifyingly quiet!
Obito, likewise disguised as a Hidden Mist Anbu, had assumed the infiltrator was just some insignificant small fry. He had only meant to pass the time by messing with the other man for amusement. Instead, the small fry transformed into a great white shark and exposed his true identity in a single sentence. How could he not be shocked?
"We haven’t seen each other for just a few years, and you’ve already forgotten me? Do you still remember this One Thousand Years of Death?" Duke formed a tiger hand seal and mimed a thrust forward with both hands.
Obito immediately covered his rear and retreated two steps. No matter how slow-witted he was, he recognized Duke now.
"Mitarashi Duke!?" Obito cried out, then gritted his teeth and offered a warm greeting. "Damn it, it’s you again, you bastard who just won’t go away!"
On Nine-Tails’ Night, Duke’s shit-stirring interference had caused Nagato to question Obito’s identity. Their relationship had completely hit rock bottom, and the Akatsuki had come to dislike him as well. The Infinite Tsukuyomi plan had made no progress for a long time.
Chuunibyou Obito was not Nagato. He had no grand dream of world peace. He had inherited Madara’s identity solely to create a world where Rin existed. Even knowing it was false, he would do whatever it took. To Obito, anyone who stood in the way of him being with Rin, regardless of their identity, was his enemy—an enemy he would fight to the death.
"Obito, you’re the one behind using an Illusion Technique to control the Fourth Mizukage, aren’t you? My long trip from Konoha to Kirigakure wasn’t for nothing after all. Looks like I guessed right." Duke tapped his temple with one hand, indicating the gap between their intelligence.
"Damn it, what exactly are you trying to do?" Obito was nearly driven mad with anger. It had been understandable for Duke to stop him on Nine-Tails’ Night, since he was a Konoha ninja. But this time was different. No matter how wildly Obito acted in Kirigakure of the Land of Water, what did it have to do with Duke? Did he really need to meddle so far beyond his reach?
"I only want to be with Rin, yet you keep stopping me again and again!" As Obito spoke, killing intent swirled around him. Compared to three years ago, the killing intent emanating from him was far denser.
Duke narrowed his eyes and answered with even colder, more overwhelming killing intent. "You’ve been controlled by Uchiha Madara’s Sharingan. Can’t you tell?"
"Uchiha Madara is controlling me? Ridiculous!" Obito said disdainfully.
"Oh? So confident? Then take a look at this." Duke pulled out a stack of photographs from his clothes and tossed them to Obito. They were pictures of Rin. He refused to believe Madara’s Mangekyo Sharingan could make Obito forget Rin completely. How could someone madly in love submit to the Sharingan? Not even the Mangekyo could do that!
Sure enough, the instant Obito took the photos, his eyes went wide.
Under the warm sunlight, with a sea of flowers drifting in the breeze behind her, Rin sat amid the grass holding a bouquet. A gentle smile curled at the corners of her lips. Red half-rim glasses rested on her upturned nose, making her look intelligent and adorable.
Three years later, Rin was not as breathtaking as Terumi Mei, but her composed, dignified temperament radiated an irresistible gentleness from her very bones. She looked like an Angel fallen into the mortal world.
Rin in the photographs shone like a goddess, making loser Obito drool. But he quickly shook his head desperately and said bitterly, "Bastard, my love for Rin cannot be slandered. Don’t think you can use these things to confuse me."
Under the alterations of Madara’s Mangekyo Sharingan, the Rin in Obito’s mind was someone else. The Rin in the photographs was a fake.
"Then why are you gripping those photos so tightly?" Duke asked speechlessly.
"Ridiculous. My feelings for Rin will never change!" Obito sneered coldly, then… tucked the photos into his clothes.
Duke: "…"
He suddenly felt that this world was not worth it!
Duke’s face darkened. Although he felt he had overestimated Obito’s moral integrity, this also proved from another angle that Obito had absolutely no resistance to Rin. After hesitating for a moment, he tentatively dropped a depth charge. "That girl in the photos…"
"What happened to her?" For some reason, Obito suddenly found himself unable to control his mouth.
"Since you weren’t around, Kakashi took advantage of the situation and won her heart. They’ve already reached third base. Such a fine cabbage got rooted by a pig. What a waste!" Duke said with a grief-stricken expression.
It was complete nonsense!
Three years ago, after Obito’s death, Minato Squad existed in name only. Minato had become Hokage, while Kakashi entered the Anbu. Without his teammates and captain, Rin studied Medical Ninjutsu under Duke’s guidance and was currently working regular hours at Konoha Hospital. Kakashi blamed himself for Obito’s death and avoided reality, not daring to interact too much with Rin. He had become hopelessly addicted to 18+ novels and had recently gotten hooked on Jiraiya’s Make-Out Paradise, growing thinner by the day.
Perhaps the depictions of friendship in Jiraiya’s novels had felt too real and touched Kakashi’s heartstrings, reminding him of bitter past memories. Recently, he had been buying tissues very frequently.
Obito had no idea Duke was talking complete nonsense. Hearing that the goddess in the photographs had been claimed by Kakashi, he immediately clutched his aching heart, cried out miserably, and staggered back against the wall.
"Come on, is that really necessary…"
Duke watched Obito howl in agony and was about to say he was overacting when the mask on Obito’s face suddenly fell off, revealing Madara’s Sharingan. The Three Tomoe Sharingan spun rapidly, forming an intersecting black four-pointed shape. An inexplicable chakra surged from it, constantly altering Obito’s memories.
Obito covered his eye and rolled across the floor in pain. Indescribable memories flashed through his mind, warming his heart for an instant. Yet the next moment, the incomparably captivating figure gradually faded away, replaced by another stranger.
"Rin! No, get out of my head!" Obito clutched his head as the Sharingan in both eyes activated their Mangekyo forms. Chakra filled with an evil aura erupted wildly from him.
The black robe on Obito’s back bulged high as sharp wooden spikes emerged and shot out at bullet-like speed, embedding deeply into the stone walls on all sides. Twisted branches writhed and climbed like pythons as thick as arms, taking root in the bricks and stone as they rapidly grew. The branches visibly expanded, prying open crack after crack in the walls. The entire building trembled faintly.
"Water Release: Great Waterfall Technique!"
"Ice Release: Ice Age!!"
Facing the wooden spikes that nearly filled the room, Duke did not waste a word. He unleashed two consecutive ninjutsu, freezing the Mizukage’s office into a massive block of ice.
The Mizukage’s office was no longer habitable. Duke used the Body Flicker Technique to leap out the window and stood vertically against the wall, watching the completely warped building while sensing Obito’s chakra. Judging from what had just happened, Obito should have been struggling against Madara’s Sharingan. He just did not know who had won.
"Obito’s chakra is gone. What happened?" Duke slightly closed his eyes. In his perception, apart from several wooden branches, there was not a single living person in the Mizukage’s office. Naturally, Obito was not there either.
Suddenly, alarm bells rang in his heart. Duke instantly jumped away from where he stood. Obito, carrying the Uchiha Gunbai on his back, slowly phased out from the spot he had been standing.
He looked expressionlessly at Duke, then fastened his spiral mask back over his face.
"Obito, is that you?" Duke’s heart tightened.
"It was always me. That was close—I nearly let you confuse me." Obito took Rin’s photographs from his clothes. A brief, struggling ferocity flashed through his Sharingan before it instantly turned cold.
Then, he tore the photographs to pieces.
Seeing Obito’s actions, Duke’s expression became colder than ever. "Obito, you’ve truly disappointed me."
"I don’t know what you’re talking about, but that doesn’t matter anymore. For the sake of my plan, you’ll have to die here." Beneath the spiral mask, the Three Tomoe pattern in his Sharingan transformed into a Mangekyo Sharingan.
Duke’s face was grim, and he said no more. Lowering his body, he charged at Obito. Freezing Cold Qi formed armor around him as he swung his Freezing Fist down. The icy force of his punch slammed into the wall, freezing a broad layer of ice over it. Obito let the attack pass through him as though he were intangible, then stabbed a kunai toward Duke’s neck.
Clang!
The kunai struck Duke’s carotid artery with a crisp metallic ring, leaving only a faint white mark. The pervasive chill surged along the kunai into Obito’s arm, rushing toward his entire body.
Obito gave a soft cry of surprise and instantly shifted from solid to intangible, dodging Duke’s following Freezing Fist. His entire body sank underground, and when he emerged again, he was already more than ten meters away.
"Ice Release Chakra Mode? Heh, what a terrifying ability." Obito spoke in an ambiguous tone, making it impossible to tell whether he was admiring or mocking Duke. Under the healing effect of Hashirama Cells, the arm invaded by cold had recovered completely in less than three seconds.
Duke frowned at Obito as he shifted between tangible and intangible states. He wanted to find an opportunity to leave a Flying Thunder God marker on him, but he could not touch him at all. With First Hokage cells combined with the Mangekyo Sharingan, Obito could activate Kamui without limit. Duke was not Minato and could not gain an overwhelming advantage in speed.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
This time, Obito attacked first. The fireball he breathed out expanded in midair, and a blazing wave of scorching flames crashed down ferociously.
Duke did not dodge. He charged straight into the fireball, gripping an ice-blue sphere of chakra in his right hand. He burst through the sea of flames and swung it fiercely toward Obito’s chest.
"Ice Release: Rasengan!!"
