Obito’s Identity Exposed

Obito’s body had been gravely wounded. With the last of his consciousness, he struggled to activate one final life-saving ninjutsu.

It was precisely when he activated this technique.

Minato Namikaze attacked.

And shattered his mask.

He abruptly stopped.

An incredulous look appeared in his eyes.

Although Obito had changed beyond recognition and was completely different from before, Minato Namikaze still recognized him.

"Obito."

Many things he had been unable to understand in the past were answered in this moment.

Why was the other party so familiar with Konoha?

Why did he know about the Nine-Tails?

However—

What replaced those answers was an even greater question.

Why?

Why had Obito done such things?

Minato Namikaze still remembered the boy from the past: kind, compassionate, and full of dreams. He had been like the sun itself.

At this moment.

Obito’s body suddenly fell into an illusory state, like a Genjutsu. Minato Namikaze became alert and quickly retreated.

He had failed.

Although he did not know what ability the other party had used, Minato Namikaze could still see that Obito’s injuries were rapidly recovering.

"Surprised?" Obito covered the other half of his face, which looked as though it had been burned, and silently looked at his teacher.

"Very surprised."

Minato Namikaze gazed at Obito before him, at those eyes filled with vicissitudes and hatred, and at his gloomy face.

A trace of sadness filled his eyes.

After a moment of silence.

He still raised his Kunai.

"When I heard from Kakashi that you were still alive, I was very happy. I don’t know what you went through all these years, or why you became like this, but I won’t allow anyone to harm the village or my family."

That sorrowful face still held an unspoken resolve.

Although there were still many things he could not understand, he was different from Naruto.

Minato Namikaze had long since understood the many helpless things in this world.

"Hehe, you really haven’t changed at all, my teacher." Obito seemed to let out several cold laughs. "That’s fine. I don’t want to reminisce about our teacher-and-student relationship anymore, anyway. In the eyes of people like you, the village will always come first."

"No." Minato Namikaze spoke in a low voice. "It is our comrades. It is every person in the village."

Unlike Hiruzen Sarutobi.

The people came first in his heart.

"…" Obito seemed silent for a moment before letting out a mocking laugh. "It’s all the same anyway."

At this moment.

Kakashi’s rampage in the distance had also reached its limit.

His strength and aura were visibly declining at an incredible speed.

Obito glanced over and immediately knew that Minato Namikaze had outmaneuvered him—and that even his identity had been exposed.

"Obito."

Minato Namikaze was somewhat worried about Kakashi’s condition. He also knew that he probably had no way to keep Obito there this time.

So he put away his Kunai and said:

"Failing to recognize you and stop you back then was my fault. But I won’t make the same mistake again. If you still intend to do anything to the village, I will definitely stop you!"

"Won’t make the same mistake again?"

Obito’s eyes began to activate. A vortex gradually absorbed his body, but his gaze remained fixed on Minato Namikaze.

His final words rang out.

"As the Hokage, you were always late, time and time again. You couldn’t protect anyone at all. It was thanks to your repeatedly failed protection that I completely gave up on wanting to become the Hokage."

Obito naturally held resentment toward Minato Namikaze.

But more than that, he was disappointed.

The Hokage could not protect Rin, could not protect the village, and could not even protect his own wife. When facing a world like this, the so-called Hokage was nothing more than a pitiful person.

All he could do was die tragically as a hero.

After confirming that Obito’s figure had vanished, Minato Namikaze took a deep breath and flashed rapidly toward Kakashi.

By this point, Kakashi had completely fallen unconscious.

Blood was pouring from all five features, and his aura was extremely weak.

Minato Namikaze did not even dare teleport him away. Instead, he returned to Konoha and teleported Tsunade over.

"How did he end up like this?" Tsunade was startled.

"It seems he used some extremely extraordinary item." Minato Namikaze looked around at the scene, which had been severely damaged.

"That was far too reckless."

With one hand maintaining Holy Light – Palm Sage Technique, Tsunade took the Member Badge from her chest with the other hand and activated it directly.

Shen Mo was startled, then quickly understood what she wanted to do.

"Answer it," he said to Ikaros.

"Hello, this is Ikaros."

"I want to buy ten Level 3 Medical Chests," Tsunade said directly. "Please hurry."

With Kakashi’s current injuries, ordinary Medical Series Chests would be completely useless.

He had only one breath left.

"Understood."

Ikaros immediately activated her authority. Amid dazzling teleportation light, ten Level 3 Medical Series Chests appeared beside Tsunade.

Without a word, Minato Namikaze opened them all as quickly as possible.

Fortunately, they contained two bottles of Red Potion.

"That’ll be enough." Tsunade let out a long sigh of relief.

"Looks like we should use the village’s reserve funds to stock up on more basic supplies." Minato Namikaze seemed to have understood how flexible the chests could be used.

Aside from Limited Series Chests, no one was restricted from purchasing the other series of chests.

Medical, equipment, reconnaissance—

They all cost money.

Minato Namikaze looked at Kakashi, whose breathing had quickly steadied, and gave a faint, bitter smile.

The current war might not cause sacrifices as great as those in the past, but its consumption of money far exceeded anything before.

The moment he returned, he had to face an even more difficult situation.

But—

Obito’s final words still echoed in his ears.

Minato Namikaze believed Obito was right. As the Hokage, he was unqualified. He had not protected the village, and he had not even been able to protect his disciple, wife, or son.

Therefore, the only thing he could do—

Was stake his life on it.

"Teacher." A somewhat weak voice came from nearby. Kakashi had already opened his eyes.

The large Red Potion was rapidly taking effect.

His injuries continued to heal.

"Rin is fine." Minato Namikaze knew what Kakashi wanted to ask. "I met her on the way and sent her back before coming here."

"Thank goodness." Kakashi let out a long sigh of relief, and even his complexion became rosier. But then, he seemed to make up his mind. "Teacher, I want to open a Level 3 Forbidden Series Chest!"

"Forbidden Series?" Tsunade exclaimed first.
