#291
One Palm
"Arrogant."
Gabriel and Michael both snorted coldly. They exchanged a glance and wasted no words. Michael surged forward in a long trail of light, appearing before Wang Bert as his greatsword transformed into a hundred-meter Light Sword and slashed down at Wang Bert’s head.
At the same time, Gabriel began to pray. A pillar of holy light over a hundred meters thick descended from the sky, blasting toward Wang Bert with world-destroying force. Countless Angels moved around the pillar, making the spectacle exceptionally magnificent.
"What’s the point of all this flashy nonsense?"
Wang Bert smiled disdainfully and waved his hand. Space twisted, and the pillar of holy light bent around, blasting into the gathering place of the monsters below. Thousands of monsters were instantly purified. Immediately afterward, the ground vanished at an astonishing speed. Once the pillar disappeared, there would undoubtedly be a bottomless crater there.
After diverting the pillar of holy light, Wang Bert raised his left hand and grabbed the massive Light Sword descending upon him.
"That’s impossible!"
Michael shouted in disbelief, but no matter how hard he tried, he could not pull the Light Sword free.
"Impossible? Archangel, there are plenty of impossible things in this world."
Wang Bert grinned and clenched his hand. The Light Sword shattered with a crash, dispersing into specks of light. Michael let out a muffled groan and staggered backward.
Gabriel and Michael stared at Wang Bert in shock. What was going on? Why was he so strong? Even if this was not merely an avatar but the Blood God’s true body, there was no reason for him to be this powerful.
"Have you ever heard of A Palm Technique From the Sky?"
Wang Bert smiled faintly, then suddenly appeared in the sky. Next, he lowered his right palm and dove straight down from above.
"Above and below heaven, I alone am honored."
As Wang Bert descended, the space below rapidly twisted and overlapped. The sky suddenly turned pitch-black. This was not the darkness of absent light, but the blackness of space being stripped away.
From Tony and the others’ perspective, it was as though the sky itself had collapsed. Even though they were outside the attack’s range, their hearts trembled involuntarily, as if they could die at any moment.
Gabriel and Michael’s expressions changed drastically. He could compress space over such a vast area? How exactly had he done this? They absolutely could not block this palm strike with their own abilities alone. Gabriel hurriedly shouted to Michael, "Michael, activate Godly Shield with me!"
"Alright."
Michael hurriedly nodded. The two of them poured Holy Power into Godly Shield like mad. Godly Shield transformed into a massive shield-shaped barrier of light, firmly protecting them within.
At that moment, the compressed space formed into a giant palm over a hundred meters long and pressed down on the shield-shaped barrier.
The void shattered instantly. Then, the shield-shaped barrier was forced downward by the spatial palm, crashing into the ground like a meteor.
The entire earth trembled as countless buildings collapsed with a crash. At the same time, every living thing within a thousand-meter radius was erased by the spatial aftershock.
Looking down from the sky, one could see a bottomless palm print below. Every skyscraper around it had collapsed into ruins.
"Godly Shield? What use is a turtle shell?"
Wang Bert sneered and clenched his hand. The giant spatial palm closed, trapping huge amounts of dirt along with Gabriel and Michael, who were protected by Godly Shield.
Then, the giant spatial palm flew upward, leaving behind only a several-hundred-meter-wide, bottomless crater.
At the same time, space began repairing itself automatically, though very slowly. It was completely unlike ordinary spatial rifts.
"Is this guy even human? That palm strike was more terrifying than Hulk."
Tony could not help swallowing. He had always thought he was only a little behind Bert. Now, it seemed the gap between them was anything but small.
"Of course he’s not human. He’s a god, Earth’s guardian god."
Steve said. With a teammate like that, there was nothing to worry about.
"Damn, the Blood God’s avatar can actually fight like this?"
Even Hulk, who feared neither heaven nor earth, felt somewhat shaken. He hurriedly moved away from that battlefield. Spider Demon God felt the same, and the two tacitly shifted their fight toward the outskirts of New York.
Gabriel shouted furiously from within the spatial palm, "Blood God, as long as Godly Shield is here, you can’t kill us!"
"Godly Shield truly has no weakness, but you do. How long can you keep this up?"
Wang Bert smiled disdainfully. At that moment, the Angel Army flew over in a blaze of holy light, intending to rescue them.
Wang Bert snorted coldly and grabbed through the air. Tens of thousands of Angels were directly seized and imprisoned within his small world.
Gabriel thought all the Angels had died and roared angrily, "Blood God, Heaven will not let you go!"
"Heaven won’t let me go?"
Wang Bert could not help laughing. He said, "The weather’s nice today. Perfect for doing something I’ve wanted to do for a while."
Gabriel immediately had a bad feeling. "What?"
"Attack Heaven."
Wang Bert grinned, then raised his right hand high and shouted, "Follow me into Heaven and set things right!"
"My Lord!"
Annie and the other Angels cheered in unison. Under Wang Bert’s leadership, they flew majestically toward Angel Gate.
Gabriel and Michael were terrified out of their wits. Gabriel hurriedly shouted, "Raphael, close Angel Gate! Close it immediately!"
Upon hearing this in Heaven, Raphael immediately closed Angel Gate. Angel Gate rapidly contracted, but at that moment, Wang Bert grabbed both sides of Angel Gate with his hands.
Then, Wang Bert gave a great shout and forcibly pulled Angel Gate open. Annie led the others charging inside with angry roars. They would set things right, eliminate the rebels, and return God to the divine throne.
"Wow, attacking Heaven? This is… this is way too awesome, isn’t it?"
Tony whistled. Unlike him, the others looked somewhat conflicted because they had once been believers. Then, they shook their heads. This game was far too high-level for them. Better pretend they had not seen anything.
"Blood God, God will never let you go!"
Gabriel and Michael roared madly, yet there was nothing they could do. They did not even dare leave Godly Shield’s protection—if they did, the spatial palm would crush them to death.
Godly Shield was ultimately just a shield. Without Spear of God to complement it, it was not especially useful.
"God? Aren’t I God?"
Wang Bert chuckled and prepared to enter Heaven. Seeing this, Steve hurriedly shouted, "Bert, we need you to hold the line here!"
As Steve shouted, a shadowy projection of power resembling black mist suddenly appeared. A Dimensional Demon God was about to arrive.
Black Mist Demon God laughed loudly. "Hahaha, Earth, I can finally enter!"
"Idiot."
Wang Bert sneered. Spear of God appeared out of thin air in his hand. He hurled it with force, and Spear of God instantly crossed space toward Black Mist Demon God’s true body.
"What is that?"
Black Mist Demon God was horrified. His body split into nine clouds of black mist and fled in different directions. Yet Spear of God suddenly divided into nine, instantly breaking through his demonic defenses and destroying his body.
Then, Spear of God wrapped up Black Mist Demon God’s divine soul and core before flying back into Wang Bert’s hand. Wang Bert casually suppressed Black Mist Demon God, intending to let his true body devour it when it returned.
Looking at the vanished shadow, Steve could not help swallowing. Bert was ridiculously powerful. He had actually killed a Dimensional Demon God in a single move?
Actually, that was mainly because Wang Bert had used Spear of God. Otherwise, it would still have taken some time—at least two minutes.
Steve said happily, "Bert, with you suppressing them, those Demon Gods definitely won’t dare enter again."
"No time. I’m going to settle things in Heaven. You can handle things here yourselves."
Holding Spear of God, Wang Bert strode into Angel Gate. What a joke. He had laid out such a massive scheme; how could he end it so casually? If he did not force out a few god-level experts, would his ‘fake death’ have been worth it? Some people were already getting ready to throw flowers.
Hulk had already succeeded, and Strange and the others had some chance as well. Next, it depended on everyone else.
The more god-level experts there were, the safer Earth would become. More importantly, Wang Bert could focus on chasing girls in the future. The Super Heroes could handle ordinary crises themselves.
Watching Wang Bert leave, Steve was speechless. Tony sighed and said, "This avatar is also Bert, but he’s quite different from Bert. For example, he wouldn’t risk his life to protect Earth."
"An avatar? At the very least, he blocked Heaven for us and killed a Demon God."
Steve said, "We’ll handle the rest ourselves."
"Gods and demons!"
Tony clenched his fist resentfully. Though unwilling to accept it, he was still far from God-Devil Level.
Technology advanced quickly in its early stages, but it often ran into bottlenecks later on and could not break through. For instance, Tony’s nanotechnology research had not improved in over a year.
Tony secretly made up his mind. Others can slaughter gods. So can I. I’m only short on a little data. This time, I’m going to face a Demon God head-on.
In Heaven, just as Wang Bert entered, he saw a massive mountain covered in holy light and Angel runes crashing down upon him. He wanted to use Teleportation to evade it, but discovered that space had solidified like diamond. Even for him, it would take one or two seconds to escape.
The problem was that in one or two seconds, the mountain would already have struck.
"Stubborn to the end."
Wang Bert snorted coldly and thrust Spear of God upward with force. A huge hole was blasted directly through the bottom of Holy Mountain. Then, Holy Mountain fell, trapping Wang Bert inside.
Wang Bert did not care and continued thrusting his spear, intending to pierce Holy Mountain straight through.
"Suppress him! If he gets out, we’ll all die!"
Archangel Raphael led a group of Angel Gods in desperately pouring holy light into Holy Mountain, preventing Wang Bert from escaping. At the same time, within Angel City not far away, countless Angels prayed devoutly, continuously sending Holy Power over.
Heaven had more than four god-level beings. It also had many lesser gods. Without such strength, Heaven would not dare contend with Hell.
Wang Bert shouted coldly, "You cannot stop me, because I am God. Submit now, and you may yet live."
"You are not God. You are merely a Vampire! Blood God, we will definitely purify you."
Raphael shouted. She was fully confident that they could accomplish this, because reinforcements were constantly arriving, and Heaven had deep reserves.
"Once I sit on that throne, who would dare say I’m not God?"
Wang Bert laughed loudly, but he did not use his full strength to break through—if he did, it would not be difficult for him to break out of Holy Mountain.
This was Ancient One’s request. He had said they could not go too far with Heaven, much less truly destroy it. That was why Wang Bert had not killed Gabriel and Michael earlier.
If Wang Bert had guessed correctly, Ancient One and God likely had some unspeakable secret deal.
On the other side of Holy Mountain, two groups of Angels were fighting fiercely. Though they were all Angels, they showed no mercy because each side regarded the other as traitors.
At the same time, nine Avenging Angels merged into one and fought against three Angel Gods. Meanwhile, Elektra wore God’s Cloak as she battled the last of the four Archangels, Uriel, the Angel of Wrath! Uriel showered World Cleansing Fire upon Elektra while roaring, "Filthy creature, how dare you profane God’s Cloak?"
"Filthy creature?"
A cold killing intent flashed through Elektra’s eyes. Using God’s Cloak to cross space, she suddenly appeared behind Uriel. Then, she raised two Vibranium daggers and stabbed at Uriel’s back like twin bolts of lightning.
Uriel’s six pairs of flaming wings beat in unison, like six giant hands slamming toward Elektra. Elektra curled her lips into a cold smile, her figure vanishing like ripples in water. At the same time, the real Elektra appeared in front of Uriel and opened her mouth, spewing a massive amount of freezing air at him.
Uriel was instantly frozen into Cold Ice, but just one second later, the ice was melted by fierce flames. Uriel was about to counterattack when Elektra kicked him in the chest like a phantom, sending him flying hard. He crashed into Holy Mountain with a bang, scattering vast amounts of holy light.
"So what if you’re an Archangel? I’ve even fought an Ancient God projection."
Elektra sneered. She possessed Gladiator’s bloodline. The stronger her confidence, the stronger she became. Her previous experience of drawing against an Ancient God projection had greatly boosted her confidence.
Seeing that Uriel had actually made things worse, Raphael shouted in dissatisfaction, "Uriel!"
"There won’t be a next time."
Uriel cursed and flapped his wings, turning into a rain of fire that shot toward Elektra. Elektra smiled contemptuously and vanished instantly. She was an assassin; ambushes were her specialty, not frontal battles.
"This is a pretty good experience for Elektra. She may not be famous, but she’s no weaker than Hulk and the others."
Wang Bert nodded in satisfaction. To be honest, it was somewhat wasteful for Elektra to remain hidden in his shadow.
Leaving aside the battle in Heaven for now, in New York, although Wang Bert had left, everyone’s morale remained high. After all, the Blood God was not dead. If the sky fell, it would definitely hit him first—no, he would definitely be the first to hold it up.
With their morale soaring, everyone rapidly harvested the lives of monsters and spiders. Seeing the situation gradually stabilize, the Space Fleet stopped its bombardment, since its energy was limited.
Blood God rapidly manufactured an army of High-Temperature People. At a time like this, the more cannon fodder, the better.
Before long, another spatial rift was torn open. A large number of Bat People, each roughly the size of an eagle, flapped their wings and flew into New York. The leading bat commander surveyed the situation, then led the bats in launching sonic attacks against the humans below.
Boom, boom, boom! Sonic waves exploded repeatedly against the ground. Several superpowered people failed to evade in time and were blown to pieces.
Seeing this, Steve was preparing to send Drone Armor over to help when Black Bolt flew over. He opened his mouth and softly uttered an "Ah." Sonic Wave swept through the air, ripping every bat apart. Chunks of flesh fell down with a pitter-patter.
Black Bolt used his vibrating voice device to say, "Director, leave these bats to me. I’ve learned a new song, and I was just looking for someone to appreciate it."
"You’re going to sing here?"
Steve was somewhat stunned. The biggest issue with High Note sonic attacks was that they struck in every direction. By the time Black Bolt finished singing, there probably would not be anyone alive in New York.
