Peter, Whoever Messes with You, Kill Him!
Peter was escorted out of the office by Director Garrett, who had an arm around his shoulders.
"Peter, thank you very much for providing that information. Next time Thomas calls you, remember to record it."
"And Peter, don’t be deceived by Hydra’s words so easily. You have to trust S.H.I.E.L.D.!"
Peter, who had once again been duped into helplessness, returned home empty-handed.
He lay on his bed, tossing and turning. He always felt that something was wrong somewhere, but no matter how hard he thought about it, he couldn’t figure out what the problem was.
His reason told him not to believe Hydra’s words, but to trust S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Garrett had repeatedly emphasized that he should trust S.H.I.E.L.D. Besides, Director Garrett’s conduct was also very worthy of his trust.
But S.H.I.E.L.D. had already made many mistakes.
Peter wasn’t entirely sure whether George Stacy had been framed, but Gwen, Uncle Ben, and Aunt May definitely weren’t Hydra. Peter was certain of that. Yet all three of them had been arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D. Could he still trust S.H.I.E.L.D.?
But what could he do if he didn’t trust S.H.I.E.L.D.?
Other than S.H.I.E.L.D., who else could help clear Uncle Ben and the others of suspicion?
Could it be that he really had to join Hydra?
With Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. working together to deceive him, Peter’s thoughts grew increasingly muddled. All his relatives and friends had been arrested as suspected Hydra members. He was only an ordinary high school student; even if he had doubts, he had no idea whom he could discuss them with.
World-Shaking Wisdom only raised intelligence. It didn’t raise emotional intelligence!
Faced with a series of traps designed to exploit the weaknesses in his personality, he had already sunk deep into them and could no longer extricate himself. It was as if he were trapped in a web, unable to break free in the slightest. The restraints would only grow tighter, until eventually he had nowhere left to run. If nothing unexpected happened, it was only a matter of time before he fell into Hydra’s hands.
The next morning, although he hadn’t slept all night, Peter was still full of energy thanks to his strong physique. However, the pressure weighing on him was still visible on his face. His expression was as gloomy as if someone owed him several million.
After washing up, he ate breakfast as if he were chewing wax. Then, not knowing where else to go, he wandered aimlessly through the streets. When he finally came to his senses, he was surprised to find himself standing outside the Martial Arts School.
Ever since his falling-out with his master, Peter had never returned to the Martial Arts School. But now, when he had nowhere else to turn, he had subconsciously come here.
After pacing outside the Martial Arts School for half a day, Peter eventually walked in.
Actually, he didn’t think his master Zhan Liu, who always used his fists to make his point, would have any good help or advice to offer. But he was currently lost and helpless, so he was grasping at straws and had come to ask. It was just like Mrs. Stacy calling all her friends one by one—a desperate attempt to find a cure for a hopeless case.
Once inside the Martial Arts School, he went straight to Zhan Liu.
"Well, well, isn’t this His Highness Thor? What a rare guest!" Zhan Liu glanced sideways at Peter and spoke sarcastically.
He had originally been on good terms with Peter as master and disciple, and had even intended to nurture him. But Peter had been duped senseless by S.H.I.E.L.D., following them around like a loyal dog every day and not even coming to the Martial Arts School anymore.
Zhan Liu had originally been waiting for Peter to reach the Tenth Heaven so he could watch a good show. But the boy was hopeless. He was still stuck at the Fifth Heaven, showing no progress at all.
Zhan Liu was furious that his beloved disciple had failed to live up to expectations, so he jabbed at him the moment they met.
Peter was incredibly embarrassed. He gave a few sheepish laughs and scratched his head.
Zhan Liu waved his hand impatiently. "Enough. Stop putting on that face in front of me! Don’t I know what you superheroes are like? You’re all eager when you need someone, then kick them aside when you don’t. All cut from the same cloth! Speak up. What have you come to your master for this time?"
Blushing, Peter told him everything, which delighted Zhan Liu.
"Hahaha… You’re such a big idiot!"
"Bullshit! You actually trust S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
"S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra are one and the same!"
"And you’re investigating Hydra? Are they checking their own right hand with their left?"
"They’re obviously using your name to purge their political enemies!"
"Idiot!"
"They made the evidence themselves. How could they possibly find any flaws in it?"
Zhan Liu pointed at Peter and mocked him relentlessly, cursing until Peter’s face turned livid.
"Why are you still wasting your breath with them?"
"Go back right now and find that director of yours. Beat him half to death first and make him release the prisoners!"
"If he refuses, punch him to death, then find the next person with the authority to give the order. Those people are all cowards who bully the weak and fear the strong. As long as you make your attitude clear, they’ll back down when you stand firm!"
"If anyone dares mess with your relatives and friends, send their entire family to prosperity in the afterlife. Let’s see who dares scheme against you again!"
"If they dare resist, fight them without worry. If you can’t win, your master will have your back. I absolutely won’t let you die!"
When Peter first heard Zhan Liu say that S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra were one and the same, his expression changed dramatically. But as Zhan Liu continued and his words became more and more outrageous, Peter instead stopped believing what he had said earlier. He now regarded Zhan Liu’s previous remarks as the ravings of a madman and didn’t believe reality was as exaggerated as he claimed.
Peter slightly regretted coming here to listen to a lunatic spout nonsense. He forced a bitter smile. "Master, I came to ask whether you had any normal way to help clear them of their crimes, not to violate Federation law and use force to threaten people."
"Dullard!"
"You’re still an obedient subject!"
"The times have changed long ago. Only a fool like you still can’t see reality clearly!"
"In the past, the country and government were supreme, and everything was about authority. After Magneto appeared, the rules changed. Now the biggest fist rules, and everything is about force!"
"If your force is strong, you’re the boss!"
"No strong person will willingly live as a dog!"
"Sooner or later, those domesticated dogs will become wild wolves!"
"Hydra understands this, which is why they schemed against you and tried to make you join them."
"In their eyes, you’re a good dog that put its own collar on!"
"Once you’ve been domesticated, you’ll be the ultimate loyal dog!"
"Man’s best friend!"
"If that’s the case, why be polite to them? Just chop off the head of the snake and become the head yourself!"
"Who would still dare cause you trouble?"
"From then on, whenever you have something to do, you can order others to handle it. Become a superior man and comfortably join the exploiting class. Would you still be afraid of someone hanging you from a lamppost?"
"Wouldn’t that be far better than living in fear and anxiety every day, constantly worrying about gains and losses?"
What a pity. Peter, this rebellious disciple, didn’t take in a single word of Zhan Liu’s heartfelt advice.
Seeing Peter’s obsequious expression, Zhan Liu knew that he was only humoring him.
"If you don’t listen to your elders, you’ll suffer for it later. Looks like you won’t learn your lesson until life beats you senseless. In that case, I’ll wait for the day your Magnetic Field Rotation makes rapid progress!"
Zhan Liu snorted coldly, then waved his hand and tossed Peter out of the Martial Arts School.
Peter had already felt like he was sitting on pins and needles while listening to Zhan Liu’s deranged speech. Being thrown out actually made him feel relieved.
He shook his head and left the small town. But the more he thought about it, the more he felt that some of the things Zhan Liu had said at the beginning made sense.
Although it was certainly impossible for S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra to be one and the same, the people checking the evidence might still be Hydra members. That would explain why they couldn’t find the flaws in the forged evidence.
After thinking it over again and again, Peter decided that it was better to believe it existed than to dismiss it outright. He decided to investigate those people.
