Preparing for the Expedition
"Mr. President, bad news. Six hundred-meter-long spacecraft are heading from the Moon toward Earth. They aren’t making any attempt to hide themselves. They clearly come with hostile intentions."
At the White House, a military general reported anxiously. President Ellis said calmly, "Don’t panic. Let me make a call first."
With that, President Ellis picked up the phone and began dialing. Everyone watched him nervously. The safety of Earth rested entirely on this call.
"Mr. Wang… Then I’m relieved. All right, I’ll notify the other nations. The Kree and the Inhumans must pay the price."
President Ellis nodded repeatedly. A moment later, he put down the phone and said to everyone, "The Blood God said he will deal with those six spacecraft."
"Wonderful!"
Everyone cheered, greatly relieved. With the Blood God around, nothing was a problem.
"Alright, contact Wakanda and the other four great nations. Once the Blood God has dealt with the spacecraft, we’ll launch a counterattack on the Moon."
President Ellis clapped his hands and asked, "General, are our troops ready?"
The military representative immediately replied loudly, "The War Lizard, five suits of armor, thirty Drone Armors, and two hundred Lesser Abominations are all ready. We can depart at any time."
President Ellis nodded. "Very good. Have the TV Stations broadcast the departure ceremony shortly."
A staffer asked, "Mr. President, where will the departure ceremony be held?"
"In the plaza in front of the White House. The Blood God will bring over the armies of the other countries, as well as Wakanda’s spacecraft."
President Ellis said, "This will be humanity’s first space war. There absolutely cannot be any mistakes."
Everyone answered in unison, "Yes."
Just then, the television in front of President Ellis suddenly turned to static. Everyone froze. This scene felt awfully familiar.
The next moment, the picture returned. A sinister face appeared on the screen and said, "Greetings, Earthlings. I am your neighbor, King Maximus of the Moon Inhuman Kingdom.
"I hereby formally declare war on Earth. Earth has one hour to surrender. If you refuse, I will launch Terrigen Missiles and wipe out all humanity."
"Huh?"
Viewers in front of their televisions were utterly bewildered. What was going on? Was this a prank, or was it real?
Wasn’t this a little too sudden? Just then, the image changed, revealing six hundred-meter-long escort spacecraft on the screen. Below them was Earth.
Immediately afterward, an explanation of the Obelisk appeared on the television—ordinary people would petrify upon touching it, while only Inhumans could remain unharmed.
"To ensure that you do not refuse to surrender, I have decided to drop a Terrigen Missile on one of Earth’s cities. At that time, aside from Inhumans, all other humans will be petrified."
Maximus appeared again and said coldly, "Governments of every nation, keep your eyes open and watch carefully. Then surrender obediently."
"Damn it."
The people of New York cursed in unison. No need to guess—it was definitely headed for New York. After all, whenever anything bad happened, New York was never spared.
The people in other cities remained quite calm. That missile’s target was definitely New York.
Now they could sit back and watch the show again.
Maximus continued, "I choose Los Angeles. Missile, launch."
At Maximus’s command, a specially made missile launched from an escort spacecraft, streaking toward Los Angeles with a long trail behind it!
"Of course it’s us in New York—wait, what? Los Angeles?"
The people of both New York and Los Angeles were stunned. Why Los Angeles instead of New York? This made no sense.
"Los Angeles? Damn it, Pepper is still at the villa."
Tony was startled and hurriedly remotely controlled a Drone Armor to take Pepper away. At the same time, Los Angeles citizens frantically fled out of the city.
"How could you possibly make it in time? Just wait to go down in history. When the time comes, I will mourn you deeply."
In Attilan, Maximus held a glass of wine and spoke with a smile.
Just as Maximus was feeling smug, a Dragon Roar that shook the entire city rang out. A crimson Dragon God hundreds of meters long soared into the sky, opened its mouth, and swallowed the descending missile whole.
The citizens of Los Angeles froze for a moment before erupting into cheers. New York’s Dragon God had come to protect Los Angeles.
It was easy to imagine that quite a few people from Los Angeles would join the Dragon God Cult afterward.
"The Dragon God!"
Maximus shouted in disbelief, "How is this possible? Hasn’t the Dragon God only ever appeared in New York and Washington?"
That was precisely why Maximus had not chosen New York.
Jiaying shouted, "Your Majesty, the Blood God may have returned. Wipe out humanity!"
Maximus gritted his teeth and shouted at Korath beside him, "Korath, have the escort spacecraft launch all the Terrigen Missiles."
Korath frowned. Just as he was about to give the order, the captain of an escort spacecraft suddenly shouted, "Someone has appeared in front of us."
Everyone turned in shock and saw a person radiating blood-red light, floating before the six escort spacecraft.
Compared to the escort spacecraft, this person was tiny. Yet the moment Jiaying saw him, she cried out in despair, "No, the Blood God really has returned."
"Fire! Blast him to death!"
Maximus shouted madly. Korath looked baffled. What was with these two? Why were they reacting so strongly?
Korath did not think much of it and directly ordered, "Fire."
"Yes."
Just as the six escort spacecraft were about to fire, Wang Bert raised a hand and lifted it lightly. Every Kree aboard the escort spacecraft simultaneously felt the blood in their bodies become uncontrollable, rushing through them at an astonishing speed.
Then, this violent blood surged wildly from the Kree’s mouths, gathering in midair into a blue sphere of blood.
Bang, bang, bang… Every Kree in the six escort spacecraft collapsed dead.
The Blood God’s self-created blood magic: Blood Control Technique! "Boring."
Wang Bert smiled disdainfully and waved his hand. All six escort spacecraft vanished.
Staring at the screen that had suddenly gone black, Maximus, Jiaying, and Korath all felt as if they had fallen into an ice cellar.
Jiaying and Maximus knew the Blood God was powerful, but they had never imagined he was this powerful. He had casually dealt with six escort spacecraft as though crushing six ants.
"There is actually a human on Earth as powerful as Carol."
Korath swallowed and said, "Maximus, we need to leave the Solar System immediately. We can come back in the future."
"I’m not leaving. I am the king of the Inhuman Kingdom. I will defend Attilan to the death."
Maximus said with a twisted expression, "So what if he’s the Blood God? I refuse to believe he can fight all the Inhumans in the city."
Jiaying also shouted, "That’s right, fight him!"
Korath sighed helplessly. "Fine. I’ll activate the main ship. We’ll make a last stand."
Maximus glanced at Korath and said, "I’ll send people with you."
Korath snorted and turned to leave. Maximus took a deep breath and slowly said, "Jiaying, gather the people. Prepare for the final battle."
Jiaying nodded. "Yes, Your Majesty."
"Wonderful."
Seeing the Blood God deal with all six escort spacecraft, governments around the world cheered. Sure enough, the Blood God was as reliable as ever.
A staffer reminded him, "Mr. President, you should prepare your speech."
"Alright."
President Ellis nodded. At that moment, a military general leaned over and said, "Mr. President, those spacecraft…"
President Ellis gave the general a speechless look. Every day, they told him to guard against the Blood God, yet the moment there was something to gain, they immediately jumped out to claim it. Just how thick was his skin? "When I meet the Blood God, I’ll ask him."
President Ellis said this, then rose and headed for the press conference.
"I have good news for everyone. The six spacecraft of the Kree Empire and the Inhuman Kingdom have all been dealt with."
President Ellis said with a smile, "In other words, Earth is safe."
"Wonderful!"
The reporters cheered. One reporter asked suspiciously, "Mr. President, have they really been dealt with? Those are spacecraft!"
"I can tell you with absolute certainty that they have been dealt with."
President Ellis did not elaborate and moved directly to the next topic. "The Kree Empire and the Inhuman Kingdom invaded Earth without cause and intended to destroy humanity. Their crimes are unforgivable.
"Here, on behalf of the United Nations, I formally declare war on the Inhuman Kingdom."
The reporters were taken aback. One reporter asked in confusion, "Mr. President, what is the point of declaring war on the Inhuman Kingdom? We can’t even reach them."
"Who says we can’t? Our Super Heroes and military are preparing to land on the Moon and attack the Inhuman Kingdom."
The reporters and viewers before their televisions erupted in uproar. The reporters repeatedly pressed on, "Mr. President, is what you said true? Are we really going to land on the Moon and attack the Inhuman Kingdom? That’s impossible, isn’t it? How could we possibly have that kind of technology?"
"Wakanda has that technology."
President Ellis said, "In half an hour, a departure ceremony will be held at the White House plaza. Wakanda and the Five Great Nations will all send troops."
With that, President Ellis turned and left. The White House spokesperson stepped out and said, "If you are interested, you may wait outside the White House. The departure ceremony is about to begin."
Although the White House spokesperson often lied, this time he did not. Half an hour later, the armies of the Five Great Nations, along with the Super Heroes, all appeared in the White House plaza.
The Five Great Nations had not sent many troops this time, only a little over a thousand in total. However, every single one was a true elite—Enhanced Humans, Lesser Abominations, Power Armor, mechanical exoskeletons, Inhumans, and more.
This allied force was the core strength of the five permanent members! "So much advanced technology, so many Enhanced Humans, so many Super Heroes?"
The reporters and viewers erupted in commotion. The Five Great Nations were clearly serious this time.
In other words, were they really going to land on the Moon and attack the Inhuman Kingdom?
A reporter shouted excitedly, "A historic moment! Humanity is about to wage its first space war."
Unlike the other reporters, one host appeared directly in the middle of the departure ceremony. Holding a microphone, she said to the viewers, "Hello, everyone. I’m Trish Walker. This time, I will accompany the army to the Moon for interviews and filming…"
"Trish Walker again."
Countless media outlets cursed. Just how powerful was this woman’s backer that she could worm her way into even an occasion like this? Trish thought, What’s the big deal? Even the president has to smile at me. A reporter shouted from outside, "Mr. President, where is Wakanda? Haven’t they arrived yet?"
"They arrived long ago."
President Ellis pointed upward. Everyone looked up, only to see blue skies and white clouds. Then, a massive spacecraft appeared out of thin air and slowly descended into the White House plaza.
Everyone exclaimed, "Wow, that stealth technology is incredible!"
Then the spacecraft opened. Wakanda’s king, Erik, emerged with the Dora Milaje and said to President Ellis and the four holographic projections, "Wakanda has come to join the alliance."
"Welcome."
President Ellis nodded. "I hereby nominate Wakanda to become the sixth permanent member."
The four holographic projections said in unison, "We agree."
"Wow!"
The audience erupted in uproar. This was earth-shattering news—the five permanent members were about to become six.
"Thank you."
Erik said, "Wakanda will defend Earth alongside you."
"Defeat the invaders, defend Earth!"
All the soldiers shouted in unison. President Ellis and the others nodded in satisfaction and began giving speeches.
Inside the spacecraft, Jessica yawned and said, "Why does everyone have to give speeches before going into battle? Isn’t it exhausting?"
Electro asked, "Jewel, did you drink all night again last night?"
Jessica said, "How was I supposed to know we’d be fighting on the Moon today? I hope I don’t throw up later."
Everyone was speechless. Spider-Man walked over to Wang Bert, who was reading a book, and asked uneasily, "Mr. Wang, I’ve always wanted to ask you. Can Harry recover his health?"
Without lifting his head from the magic book, Wang Bert said, "Yes, easily. But S.W.O.R.D. must agree before I help him recover."
Spider-Man said happily, "No problem. Harry only killed mercenaries. He plans to give away all his fortune to compensate them. When the time comes, S.W.O.R.D. will deal with him leniently."
"We’ll talk about it then."
Wang Bert said. Spider-Man did not dare disturb him further. After thanking him, he turned and left.
Spider-Man secretly thought, Mr. Wang feels much colder than before.
At that moment, Steve entered with a group of Super Heroes. He looked around, walked over to Wang Bert, and smiled. "Bert, long time no see."
Wang Bert still did not look up and said blandly, "It hasn’t been that long."
Steve was somewhat surprised. Why was Bert so cold? Tony, who had followed him over, looked Wang Bert over a few times and said unhappily, "Bert Wang, at such an important time, you actually sent a clone?"
"A clone?"
Everyone was stunned. Wang Bert finally looked up and asked curiously, "How did you know I’m only a clone?"
"Because you don’t have much human presence about you."
Tony said, "Hurry up and call your real body over. This is no time for jokes."
"Tony."
Steve gestured for Tony to calm down and asked, "Bert, is it because things still aren’t settled with Dracula?"
"No, Dracula was dealt with long ago."
Wang Bert shook his head and raised a hand to open a portal. Everyone looked inside and discovered someone wearing floral shorts and playing volleyball with a group of beautiful women, having the time of his life.
Wang Bert said expressionlessly, "That’s why he isn’t coming."
At that moment, Wang Bert’s real body sensed something. He glanced at the sky, then gave them the finger and closed the portal.
