Profit Bonanza
Explosive news began spreading among the Reincarnators in this Mission Space.
Another big shot had been sacrificed to S.H.I.E.L.D.!
Of the two big shots from the Holy Hill Legion who had entered the space, one had gone missing and the other had died miserably. Meanwhile, a consultant from S.H.I.E.L.D. who had made only a fleeting epiphany had displayed terrifying power.
This was one of the rare occasions when S.H.I.E.L.D. had openly demonstrated its own strength, rather than hiding beneath a crowd of ordinary agents.
And just after making an appearance before several surviving members of Saint Hill, S.H.I.E.L.D. wiped out the Holy Saints of Heaven as well, after they found a way to launch a surprise attack on Stark Tower.
Another big shot had likewise vanished after being taken away by S.H.I.E.L.D. for questioning, and still had not returned.
This string of explosive news once again made everyone understand that, in a mature point-farming instance, it was best to honestly follow the established system of experience painstakingly explored by the pioneers through blood and tears.
Making rash changes or being overly high-profile could bring far too many uncertainties.
For the Beiyang Society, however, this was undoubtedly the most fortunate outcome.
The squad that had been giving them trouble had been wiped out, that big shot had gone missing, and Chen Hang had decisively killed the three Holy Saints of Heaven guards with lightning speed.
Though he had always appeared hesitant and overly cautious, wary of the Holy Saints of Heaven’s strength, that was mostly because he had misjudged the situation. When decisiveness was needed, he had still shown the courage of an Elite Reincarnator.
With that, the matter came to an end.
Although the production-line mission had fallen through and been wasted after being taken by the Holy Saints of Heaven, at least everyone had kept their lives…
"What a bunch of bastards. They actually turned my lab into this."
When Tony Stark returned and saw that his laboratory had been stripped cleaner than a dog’s bowl, he was at a loss for words.
But Iron Man’s true strength still lay in his own research and hands-on abilities. If the lab was gone, he could simply build another one. After all, he had money.
"I’m really sorry. I was a step too slow as well, but I tracked them down for you. I didn’t recover the stuff, but I caught someone and handed him over to S.H.I.E.L.D."
After packing up Tony’s laboratory and taking it away as spoils, Xu Yue lied without even stumbling over his words.
Besides Tony’s lab, he also got his hands on Hammer Industries’ simple production line.
And the blame for Tony’s lab being robbed was promptly pinned on the mercenaries hired by Hammer Industries.
After all, those people had originally worked with Hammer Industries under that very identity.
That military-industrial company, which carried a faintly comedic air about it, did not even get the chance to take the stage before it was dealt a direct GG and taken away for investigation.
The Reincarnator big shot Xu Yue had captured, whose soul had been erased by him, was also taken by S.H.I.E.L.D. for in-depth research.
As Tony began rebuilding and expanding his laboratory, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s enigmatic director finally arrived late and came to meet Xu Yue.
"A superhero driven by pure interest? It seems we really underestimated you."
With his hands clasped beneath his chin to make himself look even more somber, Nick Fury stared at Xu Yue in Tony’s newly built laboratory with a meaningful gaze. There was a hint of something unusual in his tone as well.
When he had first heard this guy call himself a superhero driven by pure interest, he had not taken it seriously at all. What he valued more was the man’s medical skill in curing Tony, as well as his influence on Tony.
But an intelligence report from some time ago had left him hesitant and conflicted.
General Ross, a military big shot who was half rival and half partner, had forcibly detained Xu Yue and made him assist with the serum modification of the Super Soldier Program.
During the project, this strange fellow who moonlighted as a Doctor, chef, and superhero had demonstrated technology far beyond expectations. He had achieved outstanding results in every respect and was able to put them into practice.
That strange cube they had obtained also held research value in many fields. A talent of this caliber was actually quite suited to joining the research team.
Yet while they were still debating whether to recruit him, news arrived that Stark Tower had been attacked.
Before they could react, however, this part-time superhero Delivery Man, who acted purely on interest, had already handled most of the matter!
Not only had he found clues to the attackers’ identities and learned that they were mercenaries sent by Hammer Industries, he had even captured their leader.
And brought him back directly.
Though the man he captured seemed to have become a vegetable, beyond saving no matter how they tried.
But research revealed that the body of this chief culprit behind Case 626 possessed astonishing vitality far beyond human limits.
Based on comparative research, even Captain America, who had been injected with the Super Soldier Serum, was vastly inferior to him in terms of physical ability.
This instantly drew S.H.I.E.L.D.’s attention.
What kind of joke was this? A group like this had appeared out of nowhere. Did they possess technology even more terrifying than the Super Soldier Program?
And beyond the concern over that unknown force, Delivery Man’s combat strength had finally truly entered Nick Fury’s field of vision.
No wonder.
No wonder someone as arrogant as Tony Stark had acknowledged him. If he could subdue someone who was likely no weaker than, or perhaps even stronger than, Captain America, then his own strength was probably at least on Captain America’s level.
After being hit by so many revelations in succession, Nick Fury naturally chose to come in person once again to meet this consultant who had originally been nothing more than a buy-one-get-one-free bonus…
Xu Yue, who had been waiting for him all along, naturally returned the black man’s stare with one of his own.
The two of them got along quite well during the conversation that followed.
After indirectly probing Xu Yue through their exchange and gaining a rough understanding of his personality, Nick Fury was quite satisfied. Compared to someone like Tony Stark, who was self-centered and uncontrollable—
This consultant could clearly fit into research work and would not cause any disruption to the research team’s internal environment simply by joining it.
If it had been Tony instead, and he learned that this thing might be used to develop weapons, he would most likely have exploded. But Consultant Xu did not seem to have nearly as many personality quirks as Tony.
He had thought Xu Yue was merely a free extra, but who could have imagined that, if used properly, he might prove even more useful than the main prize?
This time, they had really made a killing.
This young man was quite good.
A satisfied glint also flashed through Nick Fury’s single eye…
Two updates. Happy New Year, everyone!
