Rescuing Frigga

Li Feng had always been puzzled. In the movie, Frigga had taken a stab to the back from a Cursed Warrior and died on the spot without even leaving last words. That completely contradicted the setting that Asgardians were all muscle-bound powerhouses, and even Mages possessed formidable physiques.

Only now, after personally witnessing Frigga’s murder, did Li Feng understand what had happened.

First, the Cursed Warrior had been very efficient. He had pierced Frigga’s heart directly.

The heart was a blood pump. Once it was damaged, blood naturally could no longer flow through the vessels. Not even Frigga’s divine physique could avoid that.

Second, there was such a huge hole in her chest. It had to hurt terribly. Frigga simply could not concentrate enough to control her Mana and save her own life.

Lastly, and most fatally, Frigga’s wound had been infected by the strange energy left behind by the Cursed Warrior.

Li Feng could sense that this energy was eroding Frigga’s life force.

If he had not been certain that the real Aether was inside Jane, he would have suspected that the energy in Frigga’s body was Aether.

But now? Li Feng figured, what was a little life-force depletion? He had Eternal Spring that could replenish life force.

Compared to the benefits he could gain from saving Frigga, using up his remaining Eternal Spring—

That was nothing.

Unfortunately, reality quickly slapped Li Feng in the face.

Knowing nothing about Cursed Warriors, he had clearly underestimated the strange energy that resembled Aether.

Whenever Frigga drank a mouthful of Eternal Spring, the strange energy would seize the life force first. It even showed signs of spreading faster, frightening Li Feng into pouring Eternal Spring down her throat while stretching out a hand to cast Purification and Healing Spell.

Unfortunately, Li Feng was too weak. On top of that, the Healing Spells he cast were all weakened versions, and he simply could not withstand the strange energy’s erosion of Frigga.

The Eternal Spring even caused Frigga greater suffering.

It was like two armies were crazily fighting inside Frigga’s body. Never mind which army would win; this kind of fighting, where neither side cared whether the battlefield’s owner could endure the bombardment, would make anyone cry.

On the other side, seeing that he could not catch Malekith, Thor tossed aside his hammer and dropped to his knees before Frigga. He shouted at Li Feng, "Save her! Please, save my mother at any cost!"

"Can’t you see I’m saving her?" Li Feng shouted irritably.

At that moment, Odin hurried into the bedchamber. He saw his wife lying weakly on the cold floor, her forehead covered in sweat from pain, then glanced at the silent Jane nearby.

Remembering something, he gave several orders to the guards beside him before quickly stepping up to Frigga to inspect her injuries.

Once he confirmed the severity of her wounds, Odin’s expression darkened. Without saying a word, he crouched beside Frigga, tenderly took her hand, and silently gazed into her eyes.

Odin could tell that Frigga was now so weak that she did not even have the strength to speak.

The only reason his queen was still alive was because the Mage he had looked down on before was using Eternal Spring and spells to sustain her. Once Li Feng’s Mana and Eternal Spring ran out, it would be time for Frigga to pass on.

Likewise, it was not that Odin did not want to summon healers to rescue the wife he had loved for many years. But he understood Cursed Warriors and knew where their energy came from.

Odin even knew full well that Asgard’s healers had neither the time nor the ability to save Frigga.

So Odin could not even be bothered to summon healers. He only wanted to take one last good look at Frigga, so he could etch his wife’s face deeply into his memory.

Li Feng had no idea what Odin was thinking. All he knew was that Odin was still in the mood to hold Frigga’s hand and flaunt their affection. Furious, he roared, "Odin, are you fucking sick? Hurry up and call the healers!"

Odin shot Li Feng a cold glance, then turned back to Frigga with a smile, looking as though he were telling Li Feng to shut up and stop disturbing them.

Li Feng was a little dumbfounded. Odin’s icy glare made him shudder. Is this guy planning to kill me? I’m trying to save your wife, damn it. Do you have any conscience at all? Or did you want to replace your wife long ago and make that mistress behind you Thor’s new stepmother?

While grumbling inwardly, Li Feng twitched his lips and poured the last drop of Eternal Spring into Frigga’s mouth. "Thor, your father’s gone mad. Hurry and call the healers over. I’m fucking out of Eternal Spring!"

With tears hanging on his face, Thor knelt before Frigga and blankly watched his mother’s pained expression. In a hoarse voice, he said, "Cursed Warriors are called Cursed Warriors because their energy is like a vicious curse that clings to the bones. More often than not, before we can remove the energy, the wounded are already beyond our ability to save."

"Vicious curse? Oh, for fuck’s sake…" Once Li Feng understood the nature of the energy, he immediately realized why Ancient One had reminded him to bring Angel Blood to Asgard.

Since a Cursed Warrior’s energy belonged to the vile yin type, then Angel Blood, which represented holiness, was not the best antidote?

Thinking of this, Li Feng’s lips twitched. He cast a spell to enclose Frigga in a Time Stop Spell, then reluctantly took a bright red test tube from his shoulder bag and handed it to Thor. Speaking at lightning speed, he shouted, "There’s Angel Blood in the test tube. Fucking take it and develop an antidote before I change my mind!"

As he spoke, Li Feng sensed that the Time Spell was about to collapse and froze for a moment. Once he understood that this was caused by the divine physique’s excessive resistance to spells, Li Feng covered his face and cast Time Stop Spell again. "Thor, I only have enough Mana to maintain it for half an hour. You only have half an hour to develop the antidote!"

With every second counting, Thor had no time to thank him. Gripping the test tube, he picked up his hammer and flew toward the research institute.

At the scene, seeing that his wife could still be saved, Odin turned and shouted at the guards behind him, "Bring a Mana Restoration Potion to the esteemed Mage Li Feng. Also, notify the healers to cooperate with Li Feng and delay for as long as possible. If anything happens to the queen, all of you will be buried with her!"

Well, well, how had he suddenly gone from unwelcome to esteemed? Li Feng discreetly glanced at Odin, whose anger was fully charged. While maintaining the Time Stop Spell, he happily guessed what benefits Odin would give him and how he could maximize them.

Soon, a guard handed Li Feng a crystal bottle and said, "Mage, this is a Mana Restoration Potion." The guard looked Li Feng over and judged, "It should restore all your Mana in about half an hour. You should use it now. Also, the potion has a slight effect of increasing your Mana limit."

Li Feng’s eyes lit up at the good stuff. After accepting the crystal bottle, he poured its contents into his mouth.

After drinking the potion, Li Feng sensed the Mana rapidly recovering within his body. At the same time, he stuffed the crystal bottle, which still held a few drops of potion, into his pocket. This potion obviously has great research value, and the crystal bottle itself is worth plenty. If I don’t pocket it now, I probably won’t get another chance later.

The guard gave Li Feng’s pocket a speechless look, then secretly glanced at Odin. Seeing that Odin only had eyes for Frigga, the guard considered it and decided that less trouble was better. He silently saluted and stepped aside.

A quarter of an hour later, Thor flew back into the bedchamber with joy on his face. Grinning happily, he said, "Father, the research institute has confirmed that Angel Blood can treat injuries inflicted by Cursed Warriors."

Odin, who had been worrying that Frigga would leave him, slowly inhaled and exhaled upon hearing the good news. He gazed lovingly at Frigga, who was enclosed in the Time Stop Spell, then looked at Li Feng, whose forehead was faintly covered in sweat, with a meaningful yet puzzled expression. "Thor, stay here. I’ll go quell the chaos."

With that, Odin instantly changed from a tender husband into an emperor radiating imposing authority and left the bedchamber with the guards.

Inside the room, now that he knew Frigga could be saved, Thor finally had the mood to examine Frigga, who was wrapped in a Water Orb. Curious, he asked, "Austin, this is a Time Spell, right?"

Li Feng glanced at Thor. "A musclehead like you recognizes Time Spells?"

Thor shrugged. "When the Chitauri invaded Earth, I met Master Ancient One. Out of curiosity, I asked my father about her deeds. I learned that she could use Time Spells. I just didn’t expect you could use them too."

After a pause, Thor asked curiously, "Are you Master Ancient One’s disciple?"

I’d love to carry the title of ‘Sorcerer Supreme’s disciple,’ but Kamar-Taj is a nest of White Mages. I can’t fit in there. Li Feng curled his lips helplessly. "No. I merely encountered my own opportunity and learned a little of the basics of Time Spells. As for what that opportunity was, don’t ask. That’s my secret."

Thor nodded in understanding, signaling that he would keep it secret. Then, after glancing at the guards around them, he said softly, "After you saved Jane earlier, I was already wondering how to thank you. Now you’ve saved my mother too. I really don’t know how to thank you."

Thor asked with a serious expression, "Is there anything you want?"

Eternal Spring and Angel Blood were both exceedingly rare resources. After using up such precious materials, he had finally earned a bountiful return. It had not been easy.

But do you know that free is the most expensive price? You want me to name my own price? Impossible.

Li Feng put on a show of tilting his head in thought, then shook his head. "There’s nothing I particularly want. This time, aside from wanting to keep Jane alive, I came to Asgard because I wanted to use the Bifrost to travel to Xandar."

"Xandar?" Thor asked in confusion. "What are you going there for?"

Sensing that the Time Spell was about to collapse, Li Feng shrugged and waved a hand to reinforce it. With a bitter smile, he said, "You have no idea how awkward my position is on Earth. S.H.I.E.L.D., the military, the government—every force that knows I’m a Mage spends all day thinking about how to monitor me. I’m almost sick of it."

"I happen to have a motorhome with a huge amount of space, so I thought, since I’m monitored all day on the ground, I’ll convert the motorhome into a spaceship—an Outer Space motorhome. If I drive it into Outer Space, those annoying forces won’t be able to monitor me anymore, right?"

As for whether that was actually true, heh, Thor could figure it out himself. In any case, Li Feng said that was why he wanted to borrow the route.

Thor stared at Li Feng with a completely baffled expression. "A car in Outer Space? You can do that?"

Li Feng nodded innocently. "What else? Wipe out the forces monitoring me?"

"No!" As soon as Li Feng said that, Thor hurriedly refuted him. "We cannot use our great power to bully the weak. The proper use of power is protection."

Seeing Thor radiate the aura of a holier-than-thou saint, Li Feng secretly rolled his eyes. He could not even be bothered to argue with Thor.
