Rescuing People
"Theoretically, sunlight and nuclear radiation aren’t the same thing, are they? Why can Superman absorb the power of the sun but not the energy from a nuclear explosion?" Yota wondered as he transformed into a bolt of lightning and swiftly flew toward the incoming nuclear weapons.
After Doomsday gained the ability to fly, there was at least one benefit. Compared to fighting on the ground, aerial combat had vastly more space, so the aftershocks of battle were much less severe.
Yota, transformed into a streak of lightning, quickly arrived at the location his Observation Haki had detected. Facing the barrage of incoming nuclear missiles, he flashed through the air in rapid succession. Each time he appeared beside a missile, black mist swept from his hand and absorbed it into the Dark Space.
Yota was not entirely sure whether the Dark Space could withstand nuclear bombs, but he did not need it to. The nuclear weapons stored inside were swiftly dismantled into a pile of parts by the Munch-Munch Fruit’s modification ability.
Nuclear bombs were not ordinary explosives. Their construction was extremely intricate; they could not detonate through mere impact or fire.
Turning around, Yota looked toward the battle in the sky. With a thunderous boom, the earth rumbled as the ground rippled violently, producing tremors nearly equivalent to a magnitude seven or eight earthquake.
Superman and Doomsday were locked tightly together. At that moment, Superman’s eyes widened, and Heat Vision poured directly into Doomsday’s pupils.
Amid piercing screams, Doomsday desperately hammered Superman’s stomach with punch after punch. Superman clung tightly to Doomsday’s shoulders to keep himself from being knocked away, desperately maintaining his Heat Vision attack.
Wonder Woman, who had been about to charge into the battlefield, immediately stopped when she saw this. Kryptonite had an enormous effect on both of them. If she got too close, Superman might not even be able to use his Heat Vision.
Superman kept pouring out Heat Vision for a full half minute. Only then did the terrifying beams finally burst from the back of Doomsday’s skull, blasting a huge, horrifying gash through the earth. Yota could even see magma surging up from the ground.
The Earth in this world is really under a lot of pressure, Yota silently complained. If a Super Hero on Superman’s level went crazy, he could probably punch straight through the entire planet.
This should still be a movie universe, at most a parallel universe of the movie universe. If it were the comic universe, no wonder they have to reboot it every so often.
Dozens of humanoid planet-busting cannons have nothing better to do than fight on Earth, on average gathering for a brawl once a year. It would be strange if the planet could withstand that.
While Yota was still thinking this, Superman spat out a few mouthfuls of blood and tossed aside Doomsday, whose upper skull had been blown away and whose brain had been vaporized by Heat Vision. He panted heavily several times.
"Um… Wonder Woman," Yota said. "Give Doomsday a few more hits. That thing’s vitality is extremely tenacious."
Wonder Woman froze slightly. "Desecrating an enemy’s corpse is not a good habit."
"This isn’t desecrating a corpse. Doomsday’s vitality is incredibly tenacious. Without Kryptonite, it’s nearly impossible to kill him," Yota explained.
That was only how he performed in movies and live-action shows. In comics or animation, Doomsday was practically immortal. Kryptonite and decapitation were nothing to him.
Unless he was completely destroyed at the cellular level, even if only a single cell remained, he could rapidly regenerate. He could even become stronger and gain immunity to the method that had killed him before.
He could even withstand something as law-defying as Omega Beams.
Hearing this, Wonder Woman was only half-convinced. She turned to act, only to hear a savage roar.
"Watch out!" Yota’s expression changed drastically. He sensed that Doomsday’s aura, which had been slowly weakening, had seemingly reached some threshold. It suddenly surged, instantly recovering and becoming even stronger than before.
He had thought that even if Doomsday revived, there would at least be a process! Who would have thought he would recover so quickly?
Although Yota had warned them quickly enough, two terrifying beams of Heat Vision swept across the battlefield. Wonder Woman cried out in pain as she was instantly cut in half at the waist, and the Kryptonite Spear melted beneath the Heat Vision.
Yota reacted with extraordinary speed. At the same time he shouted his warning, he had already activated Ethereal Kamui. The Heat Vision swept over him without causing any harm, then blasted into Superman and sent him flying.
Doomsday then leaped up and charged at Superman again, completely ignoring Yota, who was insignificant in his eyes.
Letting out a breath, Yota hurried toward the bisected Wonder Woman.
Not only had she been cut cleanly in half at the waist, but one of Diana’s arms had also been severed in two by the Heat Vision. Parts of her body had even been completely vaporized by the intense beams.
Fortunately, being cut in half was not the same as being decapitated, and Wonder Woman’s vitality was exceptionally strong. Not only was she still alive, but she had not even lost consciousness.
Black mist swept over her in an instant, absorbing Wonder Woman into the Dark Space before spitting her back out. Diana’s body had now fully recovered, though her face was pale.
"Thank you," Wonder Woman said weakly. "What an incredible power. It is no less remarkable than the healing god of Olympus."
Because part of Diana’s body had been missing, and because she was a demigod whose bodily cells were completely unlike those of ordinary humans, Yota did not dare repair her recklessly. He could only roughly restore her body first, then forcibly stimulate healing with Yang Release Chakra and Medical Ninjutsu.
As a result, the heroine, whose body had been forced to produce a vast number of new cells, naturally suffered severe exhaustion and a serious loss of vitality.
Of course, even if she had not been exhausted and severely weakened, she would no longer have been of much use in this battle. The Kryptonite Spear had melted into slag. If it had merely been shattered, Yota could have restored it, but now the entire spear had vaporized into smoke. No matter how powerful the Munch-Munch Fruit’s modification ability was, it could not repair that.
Boom! Another deafening crash rang out, and the ground rippled once more. Yota turned his head and saw Doomsday pinning Superman down while firing Heat Vision.
"It evolved so quickly. It has Heat Vision now too?"
Superman naturally refused to be outdone and counterattacked with his own Heat Vision. However, Yota could clearly see that the point where the two beams collided was steadily shifting closer to Superman.
Superman did not have Doomsday’s near-unkillable abilities. If Heat Vision really blew off his skull, he would unquestionably be dead.
