Revelation from Fate (First Update!)

Salomon knocked on the door, then walked into the office as if no one else were there.

The entire psychiatric hospital security team had completely failed to notice a living person walking right past them and taking their access card. Floating, invisibility, moving objects—these were all basic abilities for a spellcaster. Magical psychological suggestions like Veil of Concealment were among Salomon’s most frequently used spells. A mere second-circle Enchantment Magic spell could divert others’ attention and prevent them from noticing the caster. Its effect was similar to a third-circle Invisibility spell, making it an exceptionally cost-effective piece of magic. From Spear War.

After efficiently dealing with another matter, the Arcanist opened a portal near St. Teresa’s Psychiatric Hospital and stepped through it. At the time, Anna and Damon were arguing, and neither noticed Salomon appearing at the office door. Dr. Hastings, the only one who might have noticed him, had been distracted by the thermometer. If he had not knocked after enjoying the show, they probably would not have noticed his presence until the spell’s effects wore off.

"I ask you this solemnly, Damon Hellstrom. Do you truly intend to defy Kamar-Taj’s authority on the Material Plane?" Salomon kept his head lowered as he slowly approached Damon, adjusting the cuffs of his Shroud Robe as he walked. "All offspring of Extra-dimensional Beings must sign this contract. Do you intend to be the exception?"

"I gave you conditions, but you did not fulfill them." Damon’s chest rose and fell as he drew a deep breath. Pain began to throb at his temples. He felt as though something inside his brain were trying to burst through his skull. The agony was nearly driving him mad. Weakness and dizziness had drained all strength from him, and the feeling of helplessness was unbearable. Enduring the pain, pale-faced and barely able to pull himself together, he braced himself against the desk and demanded of the Arcanist, "You did not fulfill the conditions, so why do you demand that I fulfill mine?"

"I did what I was supposed to do." Salomon looked up at Anna, who was still sitting on the sofa. Anna stared expressionlessly at the Arcanist. It seemed that the anger from her argument with her brother had immediately faded with Salomon’s arrival. The Arcanist said to her, "You probably would not agree to me sending him to hell right now, so I have decided to use another method. I hope you will not interfere, Ms. Helstrom. I do not wish to damage our friendship."

"I’ll try." Anna nodded coldly and swallowed the words she had intended to say. But her muscles remained taut, ready to spring from the sofa at any moment.

"Good." The moment the words left his mouth, a brief incantation sent four darts blazing with blinding white light bursting from Salomon’s fingertips. The darts, each capable of erupting with dazzling radiance, struck Damon at point-blank range with perfect accuracy. They were like four consecutive heavy punches to his chest, squeezing all the air from his lungs. His aching ribs made it almost impossible to breathe, while the blinding light left multicolored spots flashing chaotically before his eyes. Light Bolt Technique. From Spear War.

Oxygen deprivation and nausea blended together, sending his brain and stomach into a vicious physiological cycle. Damon nearly vomited, but he lacked the strength to support his body. He could only collapse limply into the cushioned chair, unable even to groan.

"You can’t do this! I’ll call the police…"

Like an enraged lioness, Sister Gabriel Rossetti stepped between Salomon and Damon. Dr. Hastings bent down and pulled a pistol from a drawer. But before she could aim it at the Arcanist, the next spell arrived. Dr. Hastings saw a smoking spark shoot from between Salomon’s palms, darting all around her, the sister, and Damon like an irritating mosquito.

Then the spark seemed to run out of places to go and simply exploded in resignation, bursting into a large, glowing, smoking swarm of glittering bees. Loud explosions and brilliant sparks filled the entire office. A small dragon made of fireworks abruptly occupied the remaining space in the room. The firework dragon vividly extended its snout, sniffed Dr. Hastings, then bit down.

The constantly flashing, scorching fireworks prevented Dr. Hastings from seeing anything around her. She struggled to keep hold of her pistol, intending to move around the desk and put a bullet into the Arcanist. However, two fiercely burning fire darts knocked away her weapon and scorched her palm. By the time Dr. Hastings crawled out of the biting firework dragon, smoke rising from her entire body, she saw the sister anxiously patting out the flames on the desk and cushioned chair. A flaming shuriken was embedded in the desk. Though the tongues of fire were about to envelop Damon, he still sat slumped in the chair, pale-faced and letting out faint, intermittent groans.

"I’ve always wanted to use this spell." The Arcanist smiled and blinked. "Not long ago, I suggested watching fireworks with someone, but I was rejected. So I’m very happy to finally use it now. Don’t be like that, Dr. Hastings."

Salomon pointed at Dr. Hastings, and three heavy iron rings suddenly appeared, binding her tightly. Her shoulders, hands, and legs were all restrained. The Arcanist ignored Dr. Hastings’s curses. When St. Teresa’s Psychiatric Hospital’s security personnel heard the commotion and tried to break in, they all collapsed outside the office—Salomon had merely put them to sleep.

"I think you can now persuade your brother to sign the contract, Anna." Salomon shook his head and spoke to the Daughter of the Devil. "I hope this works. Otherwise, I will have to choose a more violent method."

"He will." Anna stood, shoved the sister aside, and roughly dragged her brother out of the chair. "He has to sign the contract."

"I’m pleased that you made the wise choice." The Arcanist narrowed his eyes and spoke meaningfully. That pleased attitude made the Daughter of the Devil grit her teeth again.

"I’m not an idiot," Anna said irritably.

"Good. I do not want my partner to be an idiot, Satana."

"Would you mind telling me where you went earlier?"

Salomon said, "It is not something that needs to be kept secret. I went—"

"—I sensed something that might affect my future. That is the result of studying Divination spells." The Arcanist helped Anna drag Damon onto the sofa, then stopped the sister with a look. Turning to Anna, he said, "The results of peering into fate are uncontrollable. When we arrived in Ohio, a fragment of the future was stuffed into my mind. Fortunately, there is Google now, or I would not even have known where that place was."

"Where is it?"

"Ms. Shaw, please do not point your gun at our friend. Mr. Damonnet, I think you should explain why you are here?" When he saw the orange-red sparks endlessly circling, Mr. Riser’s first reaction was a headache. Harold Finch, on the other hand, remained calmer.

Was there anything more incredible in this world than magic? Even if someone told him the next day that Salomon could fire enormous golden beams of light, he would not be surprised in the slightest.

"I do not believe this has anything to do with you, Mr. Damonnet."

"Are you kidding? You people know a wizard too?" Samun Shaw widened her eyes and stared at her companions in disbelief. Mr. Riser sighed and quietly explained the relationship between himself, Harold, and Salomon.

"We only met on a mission… though I do not think his life is in danger."

"You think I wanted to come?" Salomon stepped out of the portal and swept his gaze across the empty location with a puzzled expression. It was a concrete industrial plant, with numerous glaring massive lighting fixtures and wires hanging above his head. The Arcanist looked around, including at the unfamiliar woman who appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent. He remembered Harold calling her Ms. Shaw. Besides her, there was a woman kneeling on the ground and an engineering otaku in a blue T-shirt.

"I had to go through several portals just to find this place." Salomon asked, "Can anyone tell me where we are?"

"This is a nuclear testing facility in Hanfuno, Mr. Damonnet. There are no supernatural threats here."

"That is what I thought as well." The Arcanist gave the kneeling woman a puzzled glance. Everyone else was surprised by his appearance, but she was the exception. She seemed immersed in some emotion from which she could not extricate herself.

"But fate did not tell me that, Harold. I believe there may be something here connected to a disaster that will occur in the future."
