She Luo’s Misfortune (Part 1)

Poor She Luo. His plans were doomed to fall through.

The first wormhole along his escape route, one that would take half a month of subspace travel to reach, had already been seized from the Prada Civilization by angels. The four angels who had taken the wormhole were none other than Elina, Vivian, and their companions.

"Big Sister, that was so close just now! That warship almost activated the wormhole destruction device. Good thing you charged into the warship and stopped the wormhole from being destroyed. Otherwise, who knew how much longer we would have had to travel to reach the Prada Civilization’s territory!"

Beside the wormhole was a Level 5 Warship, one purchased from a Level 5 Civilization. As a Tier-4 Civilization, the Flying Fish Civilization could only manufacture Level 4 Warships itself, though it could buy higher-level warships. Of course, it was impossible to buy anything higher, such as Level 6 or Level 7 Warships. First, they were too expensive; second, no one would be foolish enough to sell high-level warships containing advanced technology to a lower civilization. Were they supposed to wait for the other side to grow strong enough to turn against them?

Compared to the battered Level 7 Warship beside it, this Level 5 Warship was intact. Elina, Vivian, and the other two angels were aboard it.

"That was just luck." Elina smiled faintly. "Vivian, you should be close to becoming a Four-winged Angel, right?"

"I still feel like I’m a little short." Vivian lightly scratched her golden twin tails and said, "The system says my accumulation isn’t enough yet. If I rashly try to break through to four wings, I might reach the Four-winged Angel stage, but it would affect my future potential!"

Elina hurriedly said, "Then don’t force a breakthrough. Although we’re in wartime, there’s no need for us to rush ahead. Let those higher-level angel factions take the lead, especially the two Level 6 Civilizations of the human camp. The Borun Empire has Six-winged Angels, while the other one has several Four-winged Angels. On top of that, they have Level 6 Warships and their own mech pilots. They’re far stronger than us."

Vivian nodded in understanding, then asked, "Big Sister, other people can bring so many mech pilots with them. Why don’t we bring any? Can we manage with only crew members and no mech pilots?"

Indeed, there were only crew members aboard their warship. There were no mech pilots.

"Vivian, our civilization’s level is too low. The mechas those mech pilots use are only Level-4 Mechas. With their physical abilities, taking mechas of that level onto the battlefield of a Level 7 Civilization is no different from sending them to their deaths!" Elina glanced into the distance, toward the storage bay for the Archangel Mecha. "After all, only angels like us can pilot a top-tier Level-7 Mecha like the Archangel!"

"That’s right, the Archangel Mecha is so powerful! It’s many times stronger than the mechas of our civilization—no, even stronger than the mechas of those Level 5 and Level 6 Civilizations!" Vivian nodded in agreement.

At that moment, a beautiful woman walking over from afar laughed when she heard this. "Vivian, you’re wrong. You shouldn’t compare the mechas of those Level 5 and Level 6 Civilizations to the Archangel Mecha. You should compare it to the Level-7 Mechas of the Prada Civilization. Even when piloting mechas of the same level as the Prada Civilization, we angels can match the ace mech pilots among the Prada Mech Pilots. And I’m talking about ordinary Two-winged Angels!"

"Is it really that powerful?" Vivian parted her lips in surprise, then looked toward Elina beside her. "Big Sister, since the Archangel Mecha is so strong, can I join the next battle too?"

Indeed, during the previous battle for the wormhole, although only one Prada warship had been stationed there, it had still been a Level 7 Warship. For safety’s sake, Elina had not agreed to Vivian’s request to fight. Instead, she had taken two Two-winged Angels with her and forcibly captured the enemy’s Level 7 Warship, while Vivian could only remain aboard the ship and watch.

"We’ll see. If the opponent isn’t too formidable, I’ll let you participate." Elina smiled faintly. She knew that the Angel War was the best way for these angels to grow, especially Vivian, who might already have caught the attention of the Lord of Time and Space. If she was never allowed to fight, such a good opportunity might be wasted.

"Elina, the remaining Prada personnel aboard that warship have been cleared out. Although the warship is damaged, most of its instruments are intact, and it can even still be piloted. Our civilization has struck it rich this time! This is a warship from a Level 7 Civilization! In peacetime, how could we ever have captured one?" the beautiful woman said excitedly.

"It’s not of much use. The gap between this technology and our civilization’s level is too great. Later, we should exchange it with those Level 5 and Level 6 Civilizations for technology suited to lower civilizations. That would be far more useful to our civilization," Elina said, shaking her head.

The beautiful woman paused, then nodded in realization. "True!"

"Since the cleanup is complete, assign some crew members from our ship to go over and fly that warship back. As for us, prepare to pass through the wormhole and head for the Prada Civilization’s territory!" Elina nodded.

"Alright, I’ll give the orders right away. We brought plenty of crew members aboard precisely for situations like this!" The beautiful woman smiled and left.

Time passed quickly. A few hours later, all arrangements had been made. The damaged Level 7 Warship was flown back to the Flying Fish Galaxy, while Elina and the other four angels boarded the intact Level 5 Warship and prepared to enter the wormhole.

Just then, a piercing alarm suddenly sounded throughout the warship.

"What’s going on?" Elina’s expression changed. An alarm at a time like this could not mean anything good. Could enemies have appeared on the other side of the wormhole? That shouldn’t be possible. They had just scouted it earlier, and there had been no one there!

Elina and the others all turned toward the human youth in charge of the radar. He tapped the screen, projecting a holographic image. In the empty void of space, a massive warship suddenly appeared.

"This is bad! It’s the flagship of the Prada Level 7 Warships. Its firepower is far beyond that previous warship’s! Our warship’s shield can’t even withstand one of its secondary cannons!" The young man’s face changed drastically, and cold sweat streamed down his body.

"Calm down!" Elina shouted sharply. "With me here, what are you afraid of? Keep scanning immediately. See whether there are other warships following behind it, and how many there are!"

"Yes, Lady Elina!" Startled awake by her shout, the young man steadied himself and resumed scanning.

"Elina, why do I feel like there’s something strange about this warship?" one of the angels beside Elina said. "Look at its movements. It clearly just emerged from subspace. Normally, after leaving subspace, shouldn’t it first investigate the surrounding environment, then check the wormhole, and only then accelerate through it?"

"Mm." Elina narrowed her eyes. "This warship seems to be fleeing…"

"Huh, now that you mention it, it really does!" Another angel took a careful look. Seeing the warship’s hurried manner, she immediately understood and exchanged a glance with Elina. It was currently the Angel War, and if the other side was fleeing, that meant it had fought other angels before!
