Six Months of Experiences
Looking at Adam, who had lowered his sleeves and was wearing the Moon, Sun, and Star Robes, everyone sighed.
"Just looking at him, who would have guessed that beneath those wizard’s robes was a body capable of punching someone to death?"
"That’s not that exaggerated."
Adam smiled and shook his head. Even with the help of the Power Card and Fight Card, along with the effects of eating Re’em meat, he had only trained for two months.
Being able to develop noticeable muscle definition was already quite good.
Still, he was fairly satisfied. If he really trained himself into some grotesquely muscular monster, that would be far too terrifying.
As they spoke, the dishes they had ordered began arriving one after another. Everyone ate while sharing what they had been through recently.
"My past six months were probably the most uneventful, right?"
Bernard counted on his fingers.
"Other than staying in the safe house with my parents, we only went to Hungary to visit a relative. We didn’t do anything else."
"Wow, that really was uneventful. But there’s nothing wrong with a peaceful life~"
Klon took a bite of salted egg yolk chicken wing and complained, "To convince my parents that I was serious about becoming a magical creature researcher, I spent the last six months studying in the Amazon Forest… or rather, surviving in the wilderness!"
He had thought that the magical creatures Adam had created in the Forbidden Forest were already comprehensive enough, and that after his training there, he would be able to handle all sorts of wilderness conditions with ease.
But Klon had not expected the Forbidden Forest to lack the most dangerous aspect of a real wilderness—uncertainty!
The magical creatures found in each X area of the Forbidden Forest were fixed. To make it easier for students to complete tasks like gathering materials, the main resource points were fixed as well.
In other words, although situations in the Forbidden Forest did carry a degree of uncertainty, the overall range of possibilities remained clear.
The wilderness was different, especially a primeval forest like the Amazon.
Without human intervention, everything there was the result of countless natural factors working together over millions of years.
Klon could handle fierce beasts and magical creatures with ease. Poisonous mosquitoes, leeches dropping from leaves…
Even parasites inside captured prey were the things that could truly kill him.
Klon rolled up his sleeve and showed everyone his arm. There was an unusually pale patch of skin there.
"This spot was bitten by a tiny bug before. The area around the wound immediately turned purplish-red, and it kept spreading outward."
"At the time, I could only cut away all the flesh there and apply medicine. Luckily, I had brought enough Essence of Murtlap…"
That patch of skin was as large as half a palm. Hearing Klon’s description, everyone could not help sucking in a cold breath.
Cutting away such a large piece of flesh would probably have exposed the bone, wouldn’t it?
"Even so, do you still insist on becoming a magical creature researcher?"
Eugene looked at Klon.
"Of course! Otherwise, wouldn’t I have lost that flesh for nothing?"
Klon put his hands on his hips and spoke with perfect confidence, then suddenly remembered something.
"Ah, right, I brought Adam a gift!"
"Hm? Only Adam gets a gift?"
Bernard raised an eyebrow and leaned over to look. Then he saw Klon take a glass bottle from his bag, one that looked very familiar to them.
Because of Adam, every time they saw this sort of glass bottle now, their mouths inexplicably started watering.
"Bzzzz—"
At that moment, the creatures inside the bottle—two mosquitoes the size of palms—flapped their wings.
"Gasp—What is that?!"
Bernard narrowed his eyes. How could mosquitoes that small make a sound like helicopter rotors?
"They’re mosquitoes native to the Amazon, a type of magical creature. They aren’t even recorded in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!"
"They don’t even have an official name. The locals’ name for them roughly translates to ‘ghost,’ so I’ve temporarily named them Ghost Mosquitoes."
"Ghost Mosquitoes not only disturb people’s sleep at night and cause nervous exhaustion, but the areas they bite also develop intense, persistent itching. The symptoms last for around ten days, and even local medicine takes at least three days to make them subside. Most importantly—"
Klon looked at the glass bottle as he explained, a trace of lingering fear flashing through his eyes.
"When Ghost Mosquitoes actually want to suck blood, they make no sound at all. They can also Apparate short distances like Golden Snidgets, allowing them to bypass the obstruction of Protego Maxima and tents."
Adam glanced at the bottle, thought for a moment, and looked at Klon.
"So, you gave this to me because…?"
"After truly experiencing the wilderness, I found that insects can pose an enormous threat to wizards, but Hogwarts’s Forbidden Forest is still lacking in that regard."
Klon wore a righteous expression.
"I think Hogwarts’s younger students desperately need training in this area!"
"Klon, I really have to see you in a new light. When it comes to being ruthless, you’re the best!"
Bernard could not help applauding Klon.
"You have a point."
Adam put away the glass bottle, his expression complicated.
"Once their descendants reproduce, I’ll turn this pair of Ghost Mosquitoes into specimens and place them in the school history exhibition hall, clearly stating that they were your gift."
"Ah… there’s really no need for that."
Klon’s smile froze on his face.
Hogwarts was Britain’s only magical school. If everyone learned that he had brought Ghost Mosquitoes to Hogwarts, then in a few decades, wouldn’t wizards all over the British Wizarding World want to skin him alive and grind his bones to dust?
"Leave some for me once you breed them."
Bernard called out.
"I think these magical creatures have great potential as Azkaban guards!"
"Indeed, aren’t they much more humane than Dementors?"
Eugene sighed as well.
"If younger students who graduate in a few years enter Azkaban because of crimes, seeing those Ghost Mosquitoes will surely remind them of their youthful days and make them regret their offenses, right?"
Uther looked at the people before him in horror, especially Eugene. How had even someone as upright-looking as him learned to turn bad with them?!
Fortunately, Ghost Mosquitoes could only live in rainforests and had extremely high humidity requirements.
There was no need to worry about them appearing in Egypt.
After Klon, Uther and Eugene also shared their experiences. Their past six months had not been as dull as Bernard’s, but neither had they been as exciting as Klon’s.
Overall, their lives over the past half year had been somewhat similar. Both were preparing to become Minister for Magic.
The only difference was that Uther was preparing to inherit the position, mainly familiarizing himself with Ministry of Magic affairs, while Eugene was preparing to rise to power, mainly expanding his connections.
This was when Eugene’s advantage as the "free donor of Rowena Ravenclaw’s Diadem" and "Ravenclaw’s eternal friend" became apparent.
Besides Mrs. Lauren’s friends, many wizards from Ravenclaw were willing to establish friendly relations with Eugene.
Although wizards from Ravenclaw usually had less of a presence than Gryffindor and Slytherin, and were not spread across every profession like Hufflepuff, they were pioneers in all kinds of Wizarding World research.
Their influence in the Wizarding World was not small at all.
For example, several scholars currently corresponding with Eugene were not only members of research institutions and editors-in-chief of academic journals, but also members of the Wizengamot.
"Hm?"
Adam’s motion of drinking cola paused slightly, drawing everyone’s attention.
"What is it?"
"Nothing…"
Adam’s expression was somewhat strange.
"Some Death Eaters tried to make a move on the first floor just now… but it’s fine now."
