Speaking of Scheming Heroes, Who Was More Scheming?
Loki was utterly terrified.
What?
You’d been watching me all along, and I didn’t even know?
How, how was that possible?
Even Heimdall couldn’t see through my magic. How could you? My illusions had clearly reached Mother Frigga’s level. Even in Asgard, only Father and Mother could see through them. Not even Thor could.
Who exactly are you?
"You came to my turf and still don’t know who I am? What kind of guest are you?"
Old Wang spread his hands, looking utterly sincere. "I’m your big brother. Come on, call me Brother Wang."
Loki: "…"
Brother, my ass.
On the Asgard side, I only had one brother—the one who used to play with hammers and now wet his pants.
On the Frost Giant side, who knew whether Laufey had lost certain abilities in that battle. Anyway, he’d never had another child. I was an only son, the future Frost King.
Where did this brother come from? Did he pop out of a rock?
"Don’t get worked up. Let me explain it slowly."
Old Wang said, "Look, Thor is your brother, right?"
Loki nodded.
Though he didn’t want to admit it, Thor really was his brother… How the hell did I end up with such an idiot for a brother?
Old Wang continued, "This morning, Thor and I became sworn brothers. Now he calls me ‘brother’ every other sentence, to the point that I’m embarrassed. So that makes me your brother too, right?"
Loki nodded.
That logic seemed sound… Wait!
No, that wasn’t right!
Thor called those three big idiots under him brothers all the time too. That couldn’t mean all three of them were my brothers, could it? Two of them were even younger than me.
Over the past thousand years, if Thor hadn’t called ten thousand people in all of Asgard his brother, then he’d called at least eight thousand.
Did I have that many brothers?
Besides…
Even if you and Thor became sworn brothers, maybe Thor was the elder brother and you were the younger one.
Midgardians didn’t even live to a hundred on average. You looked pretty young, probably only around twenty. I was already over a thousand years old. No matter how I looked at it, you seemed more like my little brother.
Come on, call me big brother, little bro?
Loki instantly felt intellectually superior.
Midgardians really aren’t very smart!
I’m called the God of Mischief on your Midgard. You think you can outplay me?
The moment Old Wang saw Loki’s expression, he knew this guy wouldn’t be easy to fool.
Loki had played the six giants of the Original Avengers Initiative like fiddles. He definitely had brains and deserved the title God of Mischief. It seemed he could only be beaten by force, not outsmarted.
Sure enough, clever schemes didn’t suit him. He just needed to charge in headfirst.
He already had a sedan. Why would he need a bicycle?
Against a genuine "Earth God" like this, Old Wang wasn’t confident of victory.
Not interested in chatting with this guy any longer, he immediately launched his full assault.
He had yet to clash directly with Asgard. Old Wang wanted to test the mettle of this Asgardian little princess. Combined with other considerations, he didn’t use too many tricks and simply answered with his fists.
Loki, take my punch!
Loki gave a wicked smile and rushed in with a dagger.
This dagger was no ordinary weapon. It was practically Loki’s version of Thor’s Hammer, never leaving his side.
It looked exquisitely crafted, with intricate and beautiful Runic Symbols faintly visible across its surface. It was undoubtedly a divine artifact. In terms of material and quality alone, it wasn’t much worse than Thor’s Hammer. With Loki’s own enchantments on top of that, it was as sharp as could be.
If it truly landed, even Purple Sweet Potato Head and Hulk probably wouldn’t be able to withstand it.
The problem was…
You were a damn mage, understand?
What kind of mage used a dagger as his weapon?
Even if you didn’t want a staff or wand, couldn’t you learn from Kael’thas or Gandalf and get yourself a magic sword? Did you have to be this shabby?
Most Marvel mages needed to borrow energy from some magical entity or extra dimension in order to cast spells.
The mages of Kamar-Taj worked this way, and so did Asgard.
Asgard itself could be called a planet, but it could also be called an extra dimension. After all, it was protected by immense amounts of magic. Its defenses in every respect surpassed even Dalaran and Karazhan, and its energy density far exceeded that of the outside world.
Every Asgardian had an indescribable connection to Asgard. The outstanding ones could directly draw upon Asgard’s energy. That was what people called divine power.
Asgardian mages generally used this energy, so the closer they were to Asgard, the stronger they became.
On Earth, Loki could borrow only a limited amount of Asgardian energy, which weakened him considerably. Even so, he was no weakling. Beating Captain America would be no problem.
Asgardians had physiques three times stronger than humans from Earth.
Mages were often physically weaker than warriors, but Loki himself was also a warrior, as well as the Frost King’s offspring. In terms of physique alone, he surpassed nearly every Asgardian warrior, including Sif and the Warriors Three.
Even if he took Hulk’s punches and kicks head-on, then got lifted up and smashed into the ground like a punching bag, it would be difficult to injure him—there was factual proof of that!
His physical strength reached fifty tons, nearly twice that of Spider-Man.
Combined with his wide variety of magic, Loki’s overall strength was second only to Thor’s. He was no weaker than the Valkyrie who had once swept through the Nine Realms.
He was, after all, a mage.
Though he appeared to be using only a dagger for close combat, he had actually applied more than a dozen enchantments without a sound—some increased sharpness, some increased speed, while others pierced armor, broke magic, and ignored shields.
The moment Loki struck, it was clear whether he had the goods.
The arrogance of Asgard’s little princess made him look down on Earthlings from the bottom of his heart. He believed them to be the lowliest, most inferior race in the Nine Realms, possessing the weakest bodies and the least strength.
In his eyes, no one on Earth could be his opponent. He held himself very highly.
All that could be said was that Odin’s discipline had been truly lacking. His affection had become outright indulgence. On top of that, Odin’s divine might had intimidated the Nine Realms, so neither Loki nor Thor had ever seen a truly grand battle or encountered a genuine powerhouse.
Thor was a brat.
Loki was a damn wolf cub!
Out of the God of Mischief’s caution, Loki used all his strength.
If Thor was Marvel’s greatest prince, then Loki was Marvel’s greatest princess.
Facing that tiny defensive dagger, whose sharpness rivaled true Adamantium, Old Wang didn’t dare meet it head-on. The hard-hitting Brewmaster instantly became a free and graceful Windwalker.
He pointed left and struck right, pointed up and struck down. Old Wang was well versed in the way of battle, tossing Princess Loki around with ease. Then, suddenly, he slapped Loki across the face and sent him flying more than ten meters away.
The little princess covered his face and climbed back to his feet, feeling utterly wronged.
You, you actually dared to slap me?
No one had ever slapped me from childhood to now—not Odin, not Frigga, not even Thor.
I-I’ll fight you to the death!
Loki raised his tiny dagger and prepared to charge at Old Wang.
If looks could kill, Old Wang would have been stabbed to death a hundred times over.
"Was Loki about to unleash his ultimate move?"
The God of Mischief in the real world naturally couldn’t be as pathetic as he was in the movies. Old Wang still had to stay alert. He couldn’t afford to capsize in a gutter.
He assumed a defensive stance.
Then…
Loki turned around and ran!
"Holy…"
Old Wang couldn’t help wanting to curse Loki’s mother.
Don’t chicken out! I haven’t even warmed up yet. Let’s fight another three hundred rounds!
"Since you’ve come, don’t even think about leaving!"
"Monster, where do you think you’re going!"
"Take a punch from Old Wang!"
Old Wang bellowed deeply, his hands hanging at his sides and his legs utterly motionless.
Whoosh!
The Crimson Magic Belt flew dozens of meters from Old Wang’s waist and instantly wrapped around Loki.
But before he could celebrate, "Loki" vanished into specks of light.
"Mirror Image plus Invisibility? Pretty slick!"
With a sweep of his mind, Old Wang discovered Loki had already slipped two kilometers away. He pointed a finger.
Whoosh!
The Crimson Magic Belt flew after him once more.
