Still Too Inexperienced
Sonia led Lalatina and Sarah along, showing them around the laboratory as they walked.
"I heard Lord Tony Stark was amazing, but I never expected him to be this amazing."
It was also Sarah’s first time learning that Mr. Tony’s laboratory occupied such a vast area.
"Lord Kassadin’s assessment of Mr. Tony was that his talent in technology was the real deal."
"That was why, even before Mr. Tony had produced any inventions, Lord Kassadin had given him his full support without reservation."
Sonia explained with a smile.
Most of the other members on the island either built their own homes, lived directly aboard battleships, or simply lived off the island.
Only when Mr. Tony arrived had Mr. Kassadin planned to build a laboratory for him.
Though it was hard to say whether something on this scale should still be called a laboratory, Mr. Kassadin clearly thought very highly of Mr. Tony.
Aside from her, Mr. Tony was also the only person on the island who could directly meet Lord Kassadin himself.
"Lalatina, you should work on Void Island in the future too. Working here is much freer than at the Celebrity Hotel."
Sarah spoke up upon hearing that.
"Whether Mr. Tony Stark will hire me is still uncertain, so let’s discuss that later."
Lalatina was tempted by the idea, but she also knew that working for Mr. Tony Stark probably would not be easy.
"If Miss Lalatina is willing to work for me, I’d be delighted."
"We can discuss the scope of your work and your compensation in detail in front of Miss Sonia. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed."
Just then, Tony’s voice came from above.
Tony descended directly from the sky, making a stylish entrance.
Knowing Sonia had not come to warn him, Tony flew straight out of the laboratory and quickly arrived before the three women.
Tony had also obtained Harvey’s consent for Miss Lalatina to stay on Void Island.
So naturally, Tony would not mind hiring Lalatina to work for him.
Besides, only by truly hiring Lalatina would the bragging he had done today not fall apart.
"Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Tony, but please allow me to observe you for a while. I’m afraid I may not be able to meet your requirements."
"At the same time, I can observe you for a while as well, to see whether I can sincerely work for you."
"That way, the decision won’t be made on a whim."
Hearing that Mr. Tony was willing to discuss it in front of Sonia-senpai, Lalatina knew he had already shown her considerable respect. Still, she needed time to think things through.
"Of course. There’s plenty of time, so there’s no rush."
Tony was not angry that Lalatina had not agreed immediately. Instead, he felt a little more admiration for her.
"Miss Sonia, what brings you here?"
Tony then looked at Sonia and asked, pretending not to know.
"I’ve learned about some of the interactions between Lalatina and you, Mr. Tony."
"I also know that you want to hire her as a secretary to take care of your daily needs, and that she will be staying on the island for the time being."
"Sarah also happens to be living alone on the island right now, so Lalatina’s arrival means she’ll have company."
"So there’s something I’d like to discuss with you."
"I wanted to see whether you would agree to her coming here normally for work, while living with Sarah."
"Sarah’s residence isn’t very far from here by car."
Sonia had dealt with Tony many times before, so she did not beat around the bush and went straight to the point.
"So that’s all it is."
"As long as Miss Lalatina arrives at work on time, that’s enough."
"As for what she wants to do after work or where she wants to live, that is naturally her freedom."
After hearing Miss Sonia’s purpose, Tony agreed without the slightest hesitation.
At first, Pepper had not lived with him either. It was only after Pepper had served as his secretary for a long time.
After the two became increasingly familiar with each other, Pepper moved into his manor to take care of his daily life and various work matters.
"Thank you, Mr. Tony."
After receiving Tony’s agreement, Lalatina was also somewhat happy and spoke gratefully.
"That’s perfectly normal on Blue Star, so you don’t need to take it too seriously."
"Before seeing the working hours at the Celebrity Hotel, I thought some jobs on Blue Star were already pretty brutal."
"I never expected that I was still too inexperienced."
"I’ll tell you about my daily schedule later, as well as what I need you to do."
"When the time comes, you’ll be on call for no more than twelve hours a day during the specified hours."
"You only need to handle the matters within your responsibilities during that time."
Seeing Lalatina smile and hearing her thanks, Tony smiled as he spoke.
"I don’t know much about work on Blue Star, but not every job is like that."
"It’s just that for ordinary people like us, if we aren’t willing to sell ourselves to others."
"Earning four or five hundred thousand a year isn’t easy, so we simply exchange our time for money."
"Generally, if you can work at the Celebrity Hotel for seven or eight years, you can consider retiring and finding a more relaxed job to start enjoying life."
Lalatina explained with a smile.
When it came to making money, the beautiful women recommended by the Celebrity Hotel could earn more than ten times what she did in a year.
But every profession had its hardships, not to mention that they had to entertain wealthy men who had seen it all.
"Not only do you have ideals, but you also have the drive to take action for them. I admire that."
Hearing this, Tony’s gaze flickered as he praised her.
This was not mere politeness. He had seen too many women who, when they were young, gave away their first time early because of ignorance and inexperience, then embarked on a path of no return.
After experiencing the various comforts of life with a lover, their vanity began to grow. They started changing boyfriends frequently and briefly experienced a more affluent lifestyle.
In the end, he had seen and heard far too many examples of women who got tired of playing around and married some honest man.
"By the way, Miss Lalatina, do you have a car?"
"If you don’t, I can lend you one for commuting to and from work."
Knowing that Lalatina would be living with Miss Sarah, Tony thought of a problem and asked.
"Now that you’re willing to let me work so few hours each day, I’m already very grateful to you."
"Although my car isn’t very fancy, there’s no need to trouble you over a car, Mr. Tony."
"If I officially begin working for you, Mr. Tony, then I’ll accept this kindness."
Lalatina was happy to hear the question, but she still felt too embarrassed to accept such kindness directly.
Fourth update delivered.
