Take Back What Belongs to Us
Of course, the chances of the Chinese people taking action themselves were not high. Don’t forget, China still had several million active-duty soldiers!
These people were China’s strongest force at present!
Never mind the Kirin Armor they were equipped with, or the Hulk enhancements they had undergone. Their evolved bodies alone were not much weaker than Thor’s. If war truly broke out, they would be millions of upgraded Thors!
So Chen Mu hadn’t been bluffing before?
This thing really belonged to China?
Holding Thor’s Spear, Nick Fury fell into deep silence, finding it hard to believe.
When he had questioned Chen Mu earlier, Chen Mu had claimed that this thing belonged to China. Nick Fury had always dismissed it and never believed him. But now that Loki had personally said so, he had no choice but to believe it.
China—or rather, Chen Mu—really possessed some unimaginable technology, capable of creating things that surpassed all conventional understanding.
How different was this spear, capable of granting its user Thor’s lightning power, from Thor’s Hammer wielded by Thor?
Moreover, this spear had no restrictions. Anyone could lift it, just as he had done now. Only after personally experiencing Thor’s lightning power could one understand its strength.
And Nick Fury knew very well that Thor’s Spear had already been widely equipped throughout China.
In other words, among China’s military forces, there were plenty of people who could wield Thor’s Spear and become like Thor!
Nick Fury did not even know that the real Thor had gone to China to enlist and train himself. If he knew that, he would probably have completely lost it.
What the hell was this?
Damn it, why hadn’t someone like Chen Mu appeared in powerful America?
No, there was someone like that. In Nick Fury’s eyes, Tony was perhaps not much worse than Chen Mu. But what upset Nick Fury was that Chen Mu could hand over his scientific research results to his country with virtually no conditions, while Tony Stark refused to give any of his research results to America.
It made Nick Fury grit his teeth in frustration.
But there was nothing he could do. He could not possibly force Tony Stark, could he? Tony’s Stark Industries was a capitalist giant in America, and Tony himself was someone capable of influencing the course of the entire country.
To put it bluntly, S.H.I.E.L.D. was just a hired hand. How could he possibly force Tony Stark to do anything?
At most, he could use public opinion or moral pressure to make Tony Stark do something. But that was all. If Tony did not want to do something, there was nothing he could do about it.
Why did Tony refuse to give these technologies to America? Tony understood better than anyone what America was like. Handing powerful technology over to America would be irresponsible toward Earth!
That was why Tony insisted on building Earth’s defensive perimeter even under these circumstances.
He did not trust the American government, much less the American military. As for S.H.I.E.L.D.? He had never given it a second glance!
Especially after learning that his father had been one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s founders, yet S.H.I.E.L.D. had stood by and done nothing after his father was murdered, Tony trusted them even less.
If he had not needed a legitimate identity for his plans, he would not have bothered becoming S.H.I.E.L.D.’s technology consultant.
"That’s right. I came here this time to take back what belongs to China."
At that moment, Chen Mu approached with a smile on his face.
Wasn’t Chen Mu here this time precisely to take back China’s Thor’s Spear? And, incidentally, the Mind Stone within it.
Loki really was a walking treasure chest.
Chen Mu had already obtained the Space Stone and the Time Stone, and had completely analyzed them through the system.
He only needed to spend a year to manufacture one Stone. And now, Loki had delivered the third Stone right to him.
This time, Loki had truly done him a huge favor.
"Uh… Chen Mu, why are you here?"
Seeing Chen Mu appear, Loki gave an awkward smile. He was beginning to regret it. If he had known Chen Mu was aboard this Helicarrier, would he have deliberately let S.H.I.E.L.D. capture him after eating his fill?
He did not want to have contact with Chen Mu right now.
"It’s been a long time. I remember the last time was still in your Asgard."
Back then, Loki had given Chen Mu quite a few technologies and treasures. He truly was a walking treasure chest.
Chen Mu smiled and greeted Loki, then ignored him and looked at Nick Fury instead.
"So, Director Nick Fury, could you return what belongs to me?"
Chen Mu said with a smile, though his tone was calm.
"…"
Nick Fury’s expression twisted, as though he were calculating something.
"I’m sorry, but I can’t give this to you for now. This is Loki’s weapon, and he used it to harm American civilians and carry out a massacre in Germany. Under international law, we have the right to retain his weapon."
"And because Loki used this thing to control our personnel, we must keep it to remove the control over them."
Clearly, Nick Fury did not want to easily hand over something that had fallen into his hands.
Although he would definitely have to return Thor’s Spear to China in the end, before that, he wanted to see whether he could use the resources at hand to study it.
Perhaps they could decipher its technology, and then S.H.I.E.L.D. might also have a chance to manufacture such a thing?
"What, you don’t want to give it back?"
The smile vanished from Chen Mu’s face as he stared coldly at Nick Fury.
Nearby, Loki did not dare speak, but he watched the scene before him with great interest.
Interesting. Earth had now clearly split into two camps. One was led by China, while the other was the American-led bloc. Their relationship did not seem all that harmonious?
This could be exploited.
Forget it, there was no need. America’s strength was too weak; even Loki looked down on it. It simply could not have any impact on China.
Besides, if China found out he had used America, it would become difficult to continue cooperating with China in the future.
Loki did not want to lose China as such a powerful ally.
"That’s not it. I just need to wait until this matter is over before handing it to you."
Nick Fury gripped Thor’s Spear tightly, but failed to notice that the Mind Stone on its shaft was emitting a faint glow, stirring the greed in his heart.
After Nick Fury spoke, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents all silently took a step forward.
This was S.H.I.E.L.D.’s territory. Nick Fury seemed to want to use this tactic to intimidate Chen Mu?
