Teammates as Useless as Pigs
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Culver University had long since evacuated the ordinary civilians. Ripples spread across the artificial lake, while the ground near the laboratory building shook as if struck by an earthquake above magnitude five.
Large numbers of armed soldiers and military vehicles had retreated to the edge of the lawn. The terrifying battle between the two monsters on the grass was something the soldiers present would likely never forget for the rest of their lives.
Dark Demon smiled viciously as he pinned Hulk to the ground and relentlessly hammered him with his left fist.
Each Heavy Hammer strike carried immense force, containing at least dozens of tons of terrifying impact!
Hulk was beaten flat against the ground, his brain buzzing so badly that he could barely respond. He could only let out unwilling growls, his round green eyes wide with fury.
The earth continued to quake and shudder. The grass in the area had been stripped bare, and the ground as a whole had sunk by more than half a meter. Grass clippings and dust still drifted through the air.
Kyle bared his teeth viciously, hot vapor constantly pouring from his mouth. His body’s functions were being rapidly depleted, but his movements did not slacken or pause in the slightest. With a torrential offensive, he kept Hulk firmly suppressed.
Knocking Hulk down was easy, but killing Hulk would be far more difficult—and completely unnecessary.
As for subduing and capturing Hulk, powerful electric shocks, high-tech cages, and the like were all unreliable. Only the oldest method would work—beating him unconscious with brute force!
Hulk’s resistance was indeed formidable, but under enough force, he would still be stunned and pass out, reverting to human form.
"My strength is definitely enough. Am I hitting the wrong spot? Why hasn’t he passed out yet?"
Watching Hulk grit his teeth and hold on, Kyle raised the Heavy Hammer in surprise and slammed it into Hulk’s chin, driving him backward with his back scraping against the ground. Like a bulldozer, he plowed through the earth for over a dozen meters!
Kyle sprinted after him, switched targets, and continued hammering away. It felt a little like whack-a-mole. Hulk’s head throbbed as if splitting apart, and his hair had been flattened, yet he still had not passed out.
At the edge of the lawn.
Eliza watched Hulk being hammered, heartbroken as she tried to rush forward, only to be personally stopped by her father—General Ross.
The deputy commander was directing the troops on site. Seeing Hulk at a disadvantage, he suddenly realized this was a good opportunity to assist in the capture. He quickly summoned several armed soldiers and ordered them to reveal the secret weapon mounted on the military trucks…
Boom!!
The heavy blow sounded like an explosion, once again sending Hulk flying.
Kyle’s powerful chest rose and fell as he gasped out scorching breaths. Though more than half his stamina had been spent, his crimson eyes only grew brighter!
With Hulk serving as a punching bag for practice, he had become increasingly proficient with the Heavy Hammer form. The feel of exerting force was becoming smoother and more satisfying.
The brief period of dizziness Hulk suffered after being struck on the head had also increased from less than half a second to around two or three seconds!
"It’ll work. I can knock him out and subdue him! I’ve won this battle!"
Kyle grinned, kicked off the ground, and charged toward Hulk with the Heavy Hammer dragging from his left hand, his speed slightly sluggish.
Hulk lay prone on the ground, repeatedly shaking his head from side to side as he struggled to rise.
Just then, the hum of vehicles approaching came from nearby.
Kyle looked toward the sound and saw two military trucks beside him starting up. The black cloth covering their rear compartments had been pulled away, revealing two devices resembling enormous loudspeakers, both aimed at Hulk on the grass from ten meters away.
"That can’t be…"
Kyle abruptly stopped, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart.
Then, at the deputy commander’s order, the speaker devices immediately activated, unleashing intense, piercing ultrasonic waves. The sound waves manifested as tangible tides in the air, continuously crashing together against Hulk, who had just stood up.
Hulk gritted his teeth and did not fall, desperately resisting amid the collision of the two ultrasonic waves.
On the other side, although he was not directly in front of the ultrasonic waves and had retreated more than ten meters at the first opportunity.
The spreading aftershocks of the ultrasonic waves still struck Kyle, fully covered by Venom, like a heavy blow. He fell stiffly onto the grass, clutching his ears in pain, his face twisted into an expression even more agonized than Hulk’s.
Inside his mind, Venom screamed in extreme agony!
Although Venom had matured and was over a hundred times stronger than when it was born, it still possessed fatal weaknesses!
It was extremely afraid of high temperature and sound waves…
At once, the Heavy Hammer armament on Kyle’s left hand was forcibly released. Then the dark outer coating over his entire body gradually melted away like frost beneath the sun.
Clearly, Venom could no longer maintain their symbiotic state.
Seeing this, General Ross widened his eyes and growled through clenched teeth, "Who activated the ultrasonic waves?!"
"Huh? What’s wrong?" The deputy commander turned around at his words, scratching his head in confusion.
Baptized by the ultrasonic tide, Hulk roared in fury. He suddenly grabbed two pieces of military truck plating from the ground, using one as a shield while violently hurling the other outward.
Splat!
Before the deputy commander could turn back, his body was smashed into pulp by the piece of plating. The steel plating did not slow, slicing the ultrasonic device behind him cleanly in half!
Hulk leaped into the air, his astonishing jump carrying him over a dozen meters. He stomped the ultrasonic device on the other military truck into scrap, parts clattering across the ground.
Hulk stood atop the pile of twisted metal and swept his gaze around. The armed soldiers, having lost all will to fight, retreated outward.
He did not pursue them. His furious, berserk gaze fell upon a spot thirty meters away.
There, Kyle had returned to his human form and climbed up from the grass. His face was slightly pale, and he looked as though he had been fished out of water, sweat dripping from his casual clothes.
"You’re not afraid of godlike opponents; you’re afraid of piglike teammates. That saying was absolutely right."
Kyle sighed helplessly, pinching the Venom card between two fingers and returning it to the Card Space.
Roar!
Hulk roared furiously, as if he had reached a turning point. He raised the steel plating in his hands and hurled it at Kyle with all his strength.
"Well, no helping it. I’ll have to rely on myself."
Kyle shrugged and focused, raising his eyes. Golden eyes blazed with brilliant flames. His sweat-soaked clothing was instantly dried, while scorching golden fire began to rise from his body.
He watched the sheet of steel flying toward him. Rather than dodge, he quickly raised his left palm.
When the steel plating came within three meters, its front end turned red-hot. Another meter closer, it simply melted into molten iron, splattering onto the grass before him with a sizzling sound.
"What… is going on?"
Outside the lawn, every onlooker stood frozen. This was even more shocking than Hulk’s monstrous strength.
And that was not all.
Even from dozens of meters away, they could still feel the temperature in the air rising sharply. The weather abruptly became unseasonably hot and stifling.
Early autumn in September—the heat had arrived!
