#597
The Black Mud’s Chance at Resurrection
Countless people in the Infinite Dimensional Space had given themselves codenames borrowed from all manner of powerful figures. Heavenly Emperors and great gods of every kind could be found.
But most of them were fleeting flashes in the pan. Before their codenames could be remembered, they had already died in some unknown mission world.
Solomon was different. He was unquestionably a Reincarnator who had reached the very pinnacle of the current generation.
He had single-handedly founded the renowned Far East Magic Society and was famous for wielding numerous terrifying spells.
Some said Solomon possessed super-tier magic from the Overlord World. Others claimed he wielded forbidden spells from some novel world, while still others said he knew the taboo magic of Slayers.
It was no longer possible to verify who had first spread those rumors, but most Information Brokers in the Space swore that Solomon had, in several mission worlds, cast terrifying magic that destroyed entire large cities.
They also unanimously believed that Solomon was the caster closest to the Great Sun of Finality. Setting aside Title Abilities, it was still unclear who stood at the pinnacle of destruction.
That was all the information Bai Cangshu had on Solomon.
Mysterious, yet widely believed to be powerful.
Bai Cangshu readily agreed. He admired powerful Reincarnators and was even more curious about the nature of their strength. Thus, despite Snow Witch’s solemn expression, he accepted her proposal and had Solomon come over to discuss the details of that mission in person.
The Marvel World was a renowned hotbed for Secondary Worlds. More than ten known Secondary Worlds were currently based on the Marvel World.
And because the Marvel World contained figures with terrifyingly high limits, the Iron Rule existed there as well. Every such Secondary World had seen large-scale Reincarnator death events.
It was perfectly normal for High-tier Reincarnators to die in such worlds.
Vision was a superhero born from the combined effects of the Mind Stone, Vibranium, Ultron, and other forces.
His individual strength alone was already formidable. At the same time, he was a member of the Avengers. Even without knowing that Secondary World’s timeline or worldline, a figure like him was bound to possess an intricate web of connections.
Killing a Plot Character of that level and taking his Mind Stone was no simple matter for Reincarnators at their current stage.
Bai Cangshu was in no hurry. He could not exactly be called idle at the moment, and the information he had gleaned from reading minds was merely an unexpected bonus.
Had he not known that the target was the Mind Stone, he might not have involved himself at all.
The Mind Stone attracted Bai Cangshu far more than the other stones.
Snow Witch found a room near the base of the tower and moved in. Farther away, the howls of those monsters mutated by the curse rang out once more.
Bai Cangshu slowly closed his eyes. Lightning began to surge again as his consciousness sank into his Consciousness Sea.
When he opened his eyes again, Bai Cangshu was already seated atop the Throne of the Heart.
White Face hung upside down before the throne like a crucified figure, her arms spread wide. An incorporeal being covered in pitch-black runes bound her in place, and anger filled her face.
Perhaps because of divinity, Black Face’s instinctive actions always produced results that astonished others. It was as if even unconscious behavior would cause events to tilt toward some sort of religious inclination.
Bai Cangshu guessed that might be related to Its abilities.
As a native deity of the Naruto World, It had also absorbed the divine power of a top-tier god from the dualistic theology of A Song of Ice and Fire.
Black Face’s transformation had been quite remarkable. While Bai Cangshu had been absent from this space, Its Soul Power had apparently already surpassed that of Satoru Gojo and the others.
White Face, who had apparently encountered something earlier, was even more powerless to resist.
Below, Satoru Gojo rested both hands behind his head and whistled, seemingly in a good mood. In this world where no one could kill anyone else,
battles between incorporeal beings were nothing more than venting frustration or making oneself feel better.
But White Face possessed power within her that did not belong to her. During her battle with him, that power had been cast out, causing her a tangible loss.
"Mercenary Tao, you really are a thief. All you do is steal other people’s things!"
White Face hung helplessly in the air, unable to fight back. But she was very close to the Throne of the Heart, allowing her to sense certain things from the outside world, and she sneered again.
Bai Cangshu grabbed White Face’s slender legs. At the same time, Black Face released Its ability. After that terrifying battle, Black Face had completely acknowledged the position and strength of the master of the Throne of the Heart.
That sovereign power, like that of a Soul King, was something It could not resist at all.
White Face was petite, less than 1.7 meters tall. Among Reincarnators, she was already considered exceptionally slender.
Lifted by Bai Cangshu, she looked like a young girl.
White Face’s brows shot upward. Her extreme fury made even her incorporeal form begin to destabilize. An AT Field appeared, but it was useless. Mercenary Tao’s incorporeal form completely ignored her AT Field and touched her incorporeal body directly.
White Face guessed that it was probably because she had been absorbed by Mercenary Tao. This place originally belonged to Mercenary Tao’s soul or Consciousness Sea, so no matter how she raised the Wall of Heart, she was in fact contained within Mercenary Tao.
Bai Cangshu turned White Face over and held her up, pinching both sides of her cheeks. As he watched her exquisite face twist before him, he found that irrepressible rage truly amusing.
"White Face, let us continue. Can you tell me more about the cards and the stairway?"
Though he was asking, his finger traced across White Face’s neck.
The prouder a person was, the more likely they were to possess weaknesses they could not cast aside—for example, their dignity.
In this world where one would hardly die, dignity could be trampled and destroyed again and again.
Bai Cangshu’s eyes were full of amusement, while White Face trembled with rage.
"Despicable!"
Below, Artoria, clad in a blue dress and silver armor, frowned at the scene atop the Throne of the Heart. She hesitated over whether to draw her sword, but the incomplete golden Heroic Spirit still churning in the Yellow Springs made her clearly realize something.
That seemingly weak fellow was the great evil who had nearly destroyed everything in Fuyuki City.
If not for Mercenary Tao, Shirou Emiya and the others might all have died back then.
One was an evildoer, and the other was no better. Should she involve herself in this conflict?
Black Face, separated from her by nearly an entire sea of spectral spirits, pressed a hand against the katana at Its waist, ready to draw it at any moment.
Uchiha Madara watched everything coldly.
Within this Consciousness Sea, countless incorporeal beings had long since begun to divide into factions because of their own intentions.
Bai Cangshu noticed all of this and suddenly spoke.
"I can now resurrect one of you…"
As he spoke, Black Mud dripped down from above the Throne of the Heart.
Millennium Worm froze, then revealed an ecstatic expression.
Black Mud could give incorporeal beings physical bodies!
Satoru Gojo removed his blindfold as well. That was… a chance to receive a body…
Even White Face, who had been furious just moments ago, seemed to quiet down.
Only those who had experienced death could understand that yearning for resurrection!
They wanted to live, to live vividly and truly!
"…If you can resurrect me… I can…"
White Face nearly bit through her lips as she spoke. Her pride told her not to bow to Mercenary Tao, but her longing for resurrection made her willing to abandon her dignity.
Bai Cangshu revealed a mocking smile, lifted her chin, and teased, "You are in no position to bargain. Give me everything you know~"
