The infinite future
Speaking at this moment was a pitch-black Qilin; its appearance was majestic and handsome, yet its voice was as crisp as a child's.
Emperor One, hovering above the myriad Yao Race, let out a series of muffled laughs upon hearing the black Qilin's questioning.
"So-called experience is truly a double-edged sword. It gives us the confidence to handle crises, yet at the same time, it unknowingly pushes us toward the abyss."
The pitch-black mass of flesh rolled, seemingly expressing inner dissatisfaction.
"This Great Tribulation is different from any calamity we have experienced in history."
"Its Origin comes from…"
As it said this, the mass of flesh that was Emperor One suddenly surged with the faces of many ferocious Yao Beasts.
"Shut up, you!"
"Why bother babbling to these trash! Anyone who doesn't listen, swallow them all!"
"What myriad Yao Race? Under heaven, as long as there is me [Emperor One], it is enough!"
…
This bizarre scene made the myriad Yao Race attending the meeting fall silent, as if terrified.
But clearly, this was not the first time they had seen such an anomaly.
There was only fear in their eyes, not surprise.
The cloud of flesh rolled again, swallowing back these heads that were speaking nastily and clamoring incessantly.
Emperor One continued as if nothing had happened: "Therefore, this calamity exceeds the upper limit of what the Xuanhuang World can resolve on its own."
"If there are no additional variables, everything in this world will ultimately end in extinction."
Emperor One spoke with great solemnity, and the gathered Yao Race also became grave.
"However, since I said I would take you away, I have naturally already thought of a way to escape."
Emperor One's voice, which resonated like a myriad of manifestations, echoed in this space.
"Among human Cultivators, there is a School called the Heavenly Sword Sect. In order to seek a glimmer of survival during the Great Tribulation, they want to forge a [World-Breaking Divine Weapon] capable of shattering space and time, thereby escaping from this Xuanhuang World."
"Not to mention the feasibility of their move, this action of theirs actually gave me inspiration."
"The mountain beneath our feet happens to be a natural [World-Breaking Divine Weapon]. With just a little modification, it can lead us to escape from here."
Emperor One said with full confidence.
"Nanming Mountain is the edge of the sky and the corner of the sea, the boundary of the world. Therefore, it gathers much of the energy leaking from the world itself…"
Emperor One began to explain the principles to the Yao Beasts.
The myriad Yao Race dared not be negligent; regardless of what they thought in their hearts, they all appeared to be listening very attentively on the surface.
Meanwhile, in the transparent room at the very top, Xu Ke was yawning incessantly as he listened.
"So boring. Why does the most powerful Yao Beast like to babble so much? It's not domineering at all," Xu Ke muttered in a low voice.
He turned his head to look at the child beside him, who was a size smaller than himself, and asked, "Why did you bring us here? This is an internal meeting of the Yao Race. It's not good for us to be eavesdropping here, right?"
"It doesn't matter; it won't mind," the child said calmly, looking at the Emperor One Beast talking eloquently below.
Although Xu Ke was naturally innocent, this did not mean he was a fool.
He glanced left and right, lowered his voice, and asked cautiously, "Listening to your tone, you seem very familiar with Lord Emperor One."
"You wouldn't happen to be its illegitimate child, would you?"
"If you insist on thinking so, that is also correct." To Xu Ke's surprise, the other party actually admitted it openly.
This stunned Xu Ke.
"Or rather, [Emperor One] is me. But I am not Emperor One," the child added again.
Xu Ke instantly widened his eyes, filled with disbelief.
At this moment, Li Fan's attention also returned from the speech of the Emperor One mass of flesh below to the tender child in front of him.
Although he had guessed it early on, the dignified Yao Beast Dominator had actually evolved a human body.
Li Fan was still a bit shocked in his heart.
Looking at Xu Ke and Li Fan, the surprised expressions of the human and the bird, Emperor One revealed an inscrutable smile that was completely inconsistent with his appearance.
"What, surprised?"
Xu Ke nodded repeatedly.
"Actually, there is no need for that. All living beings in the world, when tracing their Origin, can actually be traced to one place."
"Whether it is Yao Beasts or humans, there is actually no essential difference."
Emperor One's expression was calm, but he was saying shocking words.
Li Fan believed that in this Holy Land of the Yao Race, if it were not this Yao Race Dominator saying these words, but anyone else, they would likely have been swallowed alive by the angry myriad Yao Race long ago.
"It is funny to say, but it took me a long time, only recently, to understand this truth."
"That is why I came to be." The child Emperor One put his hands behind his back, looked down at the group of Yao Beasts below, and said in an old-fashioned tone.
"Back then, Lu Ya once told me that the reason Yao Beasts are so powerful is because their power is inherited from the Origin Bloodline within their bodies. But as generations multiply, the Bloodline of Yao Beasts will gradually thin out. Although the possibility of mutation and atavism cannot be ruled out, the overall strength of the Yao Race is undoubtedly becoming weaker and weaker."
Hearing the other party mention Senior Brother Lu Ya, Xu Ke's eyes lit up, and he listened carefully to the child Emperor One's words.
"And the Yao Race's opponent, humans, are constantly becoming stronger through generations of learning and accumulation. Cultivation Technique, Talisman, Artifact Refining, Arrays, Alchemy, and medicine—the sources of human power can be inherited from generation to generation."
"The gap is getting wider and wider; where is the future of the Yao Beasts?"
"I pondered this question for three days and three nights, and in the end, I still couldn't figure it out."
"Force those brainless guys to learn Alchemy and Artifact Refining?"
"I'm afraid even I cannot do it. Lying down every day, eating and drinking, and sleeping when tired. Since one can become stronger like this, why bother working hard?"
"This is the dilemma of the Yao Race. Even if there are some special individuals, they cannot change the ecology of the entire group."
It seemed to be telling Xu Ke and the other, but it also seemed to be talking to itself.
"So, you want to turn Yao Beasts into humans? Just like you are now?" As if he had figured something out, Xu Ke was extremely surprised and said in horror.
The feathers on Li Fan's body also stood up slightly, feeling somewhat terrified.
"Yes."
"And no."
Emperor One shook his head, then nodded.
"As the Dominator of all Yao Beasts, I must stand from the perspective of the entire Yao Beast group, not think and decide problems based on personal preferences."
The child Emperor One pointed to the Myriad Yao Conference being held below.
"This me below has decided to take the Yao Beasts and escape from the Xuanhuang World."
"Even if I have full confidence, I cannot deny that this plan has the possibility of failure."
"Even if there is only a one in ten billion chance, I must take it into account."
"In order not to let the Yao Beast group walk toward a dead end because of one of my decisions, I need to have another plan."
Emperor One said slowly.
"I understand! This is what the Senior Brothers often say: always have a backup plan for everything!" Xu Ke said with some excitement.
"No, you don't understand," Emperor One said mercilessly.
"A backup plan? For a massive Yao Beast group, this is no different from seeking one's own destruction."
"Those Yao Beasts who refuse to leave and decide to stay in the Xuanhuang World, how much would they accept turning into humans? There is no need to think carefully; it is certain that only a small portion will be able to accept this plan of mine."
"Coercion will only bring harm to the already divided group, so I need to execute this plan secretly."
Xu Ke scratched his head, his little face full of confusion: "What exactly are you trying to say? Why am I getting so confused and understanding less and less?"
Emperor One waved his hand gently, and instantly, a lush tree appeared in front of them.
At the end of one of the branches, Xu Ke was shocked to see his own figure.
"This is…" he asked, somewhat puzzled.
"This is the future," Emperor One replied solemnly. "A certain possible future."
"A possible destiny of the Yao Race in the future is closely related to you," Emperor One looked at the small Xu Ke, his eyes filled with the vicissitudes of life.
Xu Ke, on the other hand, looked at the tree shadow that was still constantly expanding and multiplying, falling into confusion.
The scenes of the Yao Race displayed on those branches were sometimes extremely similar, and sometimes completely different.
There were scenes filled with blood where the Yao Race was completely wiped out, and scenes of reproduction to the extreme, repeating the most prosperous period of the ancient Yao Race.
There were some where humans and Yao lived in harmony, jointly establishing a glorious civilization.
There were others that were just a blur, filled with an aura of extinction and desolation.
"Infinite future, infinite possibilities."
"This also means that no matter how small the probability is, under the premise of [Infinite], everything will inevitably happen."
"Then, as the leader of the group, I must reasonably consider the future destiny of the Yao Race under every possible scenario."
At this moment, Emperor One's child-like body spoke words that were as heavy as a mountain.
"This is my answer to that question Lu Ya asked back then."
"Although humans are full of potential and have infinite possibilities for the future, you all fight for your own interests and cannot coordinate the most powerful forces within the group; instead, you will consume yourselves in endless internal strife."
"Once a calamity is encountered, you will surely suffer heavy losses to your Origin Qi."
"Perhaps you can rely on luck to survive through heavy disasters, but if you lengthen the timeline, the more disasters you experience, the greater the probability of human extinction."
"But we Yao Beasts are different. With me here, I will consider everything for my group fellows."
"Although they have their own thoughts, on the critical issue of life and death, they must all execute the corresponding orders according to our will."
"As long as I exist for one day, the Yao Race will not be completely destroyed."
"Since we cannot compete with humans, as long as we live long enough and wait for humans to perish on their own, that will be enough."
Emperor One said calmly, with a slight hint of sarcasm in his tone.
Xu Ke, on the other hand, was full of unconvinced looks and wanted to refute.
But for a moment, he couldn't think of any suitable words.
After holding it in for a long time, he just said: "Then how can you guarantee that you won't die before the Yao Race perishes?"
Emperor One looked at Xu Ke faintly, but did not speak.
My condition has not been good lately, so there will only be one update. I need to make some adjustments.
