The Legend of the New Fubuki Group (Fourth Update, Bonus Chapter for Monthly Votes)

"Hero… for fun…"

Saitama looked at the title and, after some effort, remembered that this had once been his only hobby for a long time.

He set down the odds and ends in his hands and looked at the report in the newspaper. The journalist who had written it had exhausted every flowery phrase, practically trying to portray this hero as a legend from myth.

"Sensei, monsters have started appearing again recently. Many cities have suffered large-scale destruction over the past few days, and then there was The Great Cataclysm half a year ago…"

Data continuously refreshed in Genos’s eyes. He had pulled up many incidents from the database, hoping to persuade his teacher.

He was deeply unwilling to see his omnipotent teacher reduced to the walking-dead state he was in now.

Genos could feel that Saitama-sensei was becoming more detached and indifferent by the day. Even when a large supermarket in the neighboring city held a huge anniversary sale last week, Saitama-sensei had shown little excitement. He had merely lined up to buy things out of habit.

There was less and less humanity left in his teacher. Genos had asked the owner of this supermarket about it, and his teacher’s attendance record had become increasingly irregular as well. Perhaps one day, Saitama-sensei would completely give up these dull daily routines.

For some reason, Genos felt anxious about that future. He was very worried about what Saitama-sensei would become once he truly had no desires left.

If an inhumanly powerful being lost every desire a human ought to possess, could it still be called human?

The doctor had told Genos that humanity did not lie in the flesh. Even a fully modified cyborg like him was still human as long as he possessed human emotions and morality.

The reverse was equally true. Even if one had a human appearance and a human body, if one had completely lost human emotions and morality, then one naturally was no longer human.

A teacher… no longer belonging to humanity.

Genos could not imagine such a future.

There was little life in Saitama’s eyes. His life had long been consumed by boredom. As monsters gradually disappeared, and as this world was gradually taken over by a group of people who had to pay to register before they could call themselves heroes, he had slowly lost his only hobby.

Every now and then, he would miss those old days, but as time passed, even those memories began to fade.

At this moment, looking at the smiling face in the newspaper and that person’s thick hair, he felt a faint, inexplicable concern.

"That Hero for Fun… was that you?"

The woman folded her arms, further accentuating her impressive figure. Her dark green hair was slightly longer than Bai Cangshu had imagined, falling to her shoulders.

She wore golden hoop earrings, a pearl necklace around her neck, and a black fur coat over a form-fitting dark green long dress.

Her dazzling appearance and imposing bearing marked her as the leading hero of the Fubuki Group, one of the most popular Professional Hero agencies today—Hellish Blizzard.

Blue light swirled around her as she slowly descended from the air, casually surveying the surroundings.

The woman sneered.

"This area has basically been abandoned because it’s close to the Spirit World Infested Zone. This isn’t your real residence."

"You only came here temporarily from somewhere else, trying to build up your reputation through publicity. You’re nothing but a hypocrite, aren’t you?"

Several black sedans had already arrived outside the small building where Bai Cangshu was temporarily staying. Men in suits stepped out one after another.

Watching this display, Bai Cangshu shook his head with a laugh. Then he took a step forward, closing to within half a meter of the woman.

That distance was already extremely dangerous, and the people behind Hellish Blizzard immediately gathered around her.

Fubuki frowned, but unwilling to be overwhelmed by the man before her, she merely floated upward. Powerful wind pressure accompanied her telekinesis, creating an intense oppressive force as she looked down on Bai Cangshu from above.

Bai Cangshu knew full well that using Reincarnators and Plot Characters to aggressively promote the title Hero for Fun would inevitably attract the attention of some Reincarnators and Plot Characters.

But he had not expected the first person to find him to be not another Reincarnator, but this Supernatural Ability User.

Hellish Blizzard had once been the Hero Association’s B-Class Rank 1. Her true strength was probably among the top ten in A-Class, but having long lived beneath the shadow of her older sister, Tatsumaki the Terror, she had never achieved any kind of "first place." Thus, she had refused promotion to A-Class and occupied the number one seat in B-Class.

Unlike that monster Tatsumaki, she was an ordinary Supernatural Ability User of normal strength.

"Heh. Who knows?"

Bai Cangshu did not explain himself. His gaze swept over the core members of the Fubuki Group behind her. These former heroes, whom Tatsumaki had called a "B-Class Faction," truly did not possess much combat strength.

At most, they were ordinary people with strong bodies and some combat training. They could not defeat even slightly powerful monsters one-on-one.

Yet this organization had found success in the era of professionalized heroes. Because they had many members and were extremely united, they had been able to contribute in many fields, gradually turning the Fubuki Group into one of the few agencies that still carried out normal hero activities.

Of course, they were very shrewd. Before every operation, they gathered intelligence in advance. They would abandon targets that were too powerful, while Fubuki personally dealt with weaker enemies.

In a sense, the Fubuki Group was the hero organization best suited to this era.

Fubuki saw the flash of red in the eyes of the man calling himself Hero for Fun. She moved in front of Lily of the Three-Section Staff, who stood beside her. That gaze did not belong to a hero. It was more like… a predator’s.

"Since you call yourself Hero for Fun, you should know that guy, right?"

Fubuki disliked the man before her. After only one encounter, he had made her uncomfortable. If her sister Tatsumaki’s arrogance came from openly treating everyone except herself as trash, then the man before her hid a sinister air beneath his smile, as though he regarded everyone as lambs awaiting slaughter.

It displeased her that someone like him called himself Hero for Fun.

But she had experienced quite a lot over the past two years and was no longer as impulsive as before. Rather than provoke him, she directly asked about Saitama’s whereabouts.

Since The Great Cataclysm, more and more incidents had made her feel powerless. Fubuki had realized that a hero like herself was not enough to protect the world. Therefore, she wanted to gather the former New Fubuki Group once more.

She had mobilized her forces and already found traces of Silver Fang Bang. He seemed to be spending his retirement somewhere in Z-City. King was also occasionally spotted around game stores. Yet the one man who, in her heart, was perhaps the only one capable of rivaling her sister, remained impossible to find.

That was why she had come looking for this so-called Nameless Hero.

Bai Cangshu’s gaze roamed over her, and the curve of his lips rose slightly. He suddenly reached out toward Fubuki.

Fubuki frowned as powerful telekinesis erupted instantly. But at that moment, someone among the Fubuki Group members had already rushed forward ahead of everyone else.

Lily of the Three-Section Staff had not expected this newcomer to the Fubuki Group to react so quickly or so boldly. She instinctively moved aside, unfolding her three-section staff at the same time and preparing to flank this so-called Nameless Hero who had dared extend his "dirty hand" toward Fubuki.

But in the next instant, she saw several glittering spherical objects pinched between his fingers, and a tremendous sense of danger surged through her.

"Watch out!"

Hellish Blizzard turned around just as flames erupted. At the critical moment, she instinctively thrust out one hand. Lily was instantly blasted away by telekinesis, while the fiery explosion swallowed him whole.

Bang!

The blast was far more powerful than any grenade of this era. The violent shockwave left Mountain Ape and Eyelashes, the two Fubuki Group lieutenants, with stifled chests. They were over ten meters from the blast site, yet their vision still darkened and the world spun around them.

The two staggered forward, wanting to see whether Fubuki had been injured.

The next moment, another bang rang out. A terrifying gunshot came from an extreme distance away, and blood sprayed from within the smoke of the explosion.

In a forest three kilometers away, a Reincarnator saw blood through his sniper scope. After confirming through the Space Panel that he had not attacked a Reincarnator, he spoke into his earpiece.

"Wildfire reporting. Wildfire has completed the objective. Plot Character Fubuki has been injured. Preparing to withdraw."

Hellish Blizzard was a tempting prize. Many Reincarnators wanted to capture her, but they feared her overwhelmingly powerful sister.

At the same time, Hellish Blizzard was also a useful tool for killing with a borrowed blade. All they had to do was kill or severely wound her while she was meeting certain Reincarnators, and those Reincarnators would naturally face Tatsumaki’s attack.

"Heh, Mercenary Tao… violating the Iron Rule won’t be so easy."

"Tremble…"

Wildfire turned around, took a Harley Motorcycle from his Backpack, and straddled it, ready to leave. But another order came through his earpiece.

"No Fierce-tier or higher energy fluctuations detected. Wildfire, confirm whether you hit the target…"

Wildfire frowned, turned back, and raised his sniper rifle again. Through the scope, he saw that the smoke had dispersed. The shaken woman’s chest heaved, but there was not a single trace of injury on her.

The next moment, Wildfire suddenly felt a chill run through him. Where was that guy…?

He moved the sniper scope and suddenly saw a face right before him, along with the cruel smile upon it.

"Wait, I’m a sheph—"

Splurt!

A large hand violently drove the sniper scope into Wildfire’s eye socket.
