The Sword Points at Gringotts

After taking a trip to Egypt, catching up with Uther over a meal, Adam returned to Britain.

Eugene and the others had yet to contact him, so he first went to see Madam Li and Mr. Reed.

After Voldemort had been dealt with completely, the family Adam had placed in the safe house all came out. Originally, Adam had wanted Madam Li and Mr. Reed to simply abandon the businesses they had neglected during this period.

After all, they were not like Adam, a completely hands-off boss whose supply chain had been semi-automated through magic. Running a business properly involved far too many things to consider.

However, neither Madam Li nor Mr. Reed agreed with Adam’s idea. Even if it was not for money, they still wanted to pursue their own self-worth, so Adam let them do as they wished.

By the time Eugene and the others notified Adam to gather, it was already Adam’s third day back in Britain.

"Adam, you finally made it."

"So, as expected, we’re taking action after all?"

After arriving, Adam smiled slightly at the fully armed Aurors.

"There was never going to be any surprise. If goblins were not greedy, they would not be goblins."

Eugene shook his head.

"Still, they probably never imagined we would act against them so decisively, right?"

The goblins’ spellcasting abilities were not weak. During the so-called goblin rebellions of the past, they had more often fought wizards to mutual devastation. History of Magic made it seem as though wizards had easily suppressed the goblins, but that was merely self-glorification.

If goblins had truly been so easy to suppress, then given wizards’ general contempt toward all manner of magical creatures, would they have allowed goblins to manage the financial industry?

That was why the goblins had so righteously rejected the Ministry of Magic’s demands. They believed the Ministry could not possibly go to war with them, especially while the British Wizarding World was still badly weakened after the war.

"It is a pity they do not know that times have changed."

Adam sighed, and the Wand of Darkness appeared in his hand.

"Let’s go."

With that, Adam took the lead toward Gringotts.

"Minister, that Mr. Adam just now was…?"

The head of the Auror Command could not help asking Eugene.

Who was that? What an arrogant tone! If he had not seen him speaking to the Minister so casually and equally, with the Minister not seeming angry in the slightest, he would have stepped forward to stop him already.

"He is the mysterious support I mentioned, my former classmate and roommate. Do you remember those weapons we received before?"

Eugene reminded him in a low voice.

The head of the Auror Command sucked in a cold breath. So it was him. He still remembered the shock of seeing the power of those black tubes and green boxes for the first time.

The mysterious support was him… Were they going to blow up Gringotts outright?

And Minister, what kind of monsters were in your old dormitory? Besides you, there was Mr. Bernard, who revised the new laws, the future Minister of the Egyptian Ministry of Magic, and now Mr. Adam.

Would the remaining one also give them some sort of surprise in the future?

Unaware of his subordinate’s inward grumbling, Eugene continued in a low voice.

"Leave the battle with the goblins entirely to Adam. You are responsible for evacuating the people in Diagon Alley and surrounding Gringotts."

"Ah?"

The head of the Auror Command was startled again. Leave the entire battle to him?

Then what were all these Aurors going there for? To cheer him on?

Mr. Adam was the Minister’s classmate. Even if he was powerful, how powerful could he be? He was supposed to deal with all of Gringotts alone. It was not as though he was Merlin—

"Merlin!"

The head of the Auror Command watched helplessly as Mr. Adam pulled a black lump from his pocket. It then rose into the air and swiftly transformed into an enormous black dragon, kicking the dragon statue atop Gringotts to the ground…

Roar—

With a low roar, Xiao Hei lightly flapped his wings and applied a little force with his claws. The entire roof of Gringotts was effortlessly peeled open like the skulls of prey Xiao Hei had caught in the past, exposing the goblins busily working inside.

"What is going on? Did it get dark?"

"Where did such a strong wind come from?"

"Why did the sun suddenly get so big?"

"Wait—where did that black dragon come from?"

"What black dragon?"

"Ahhh—"

It had to be said that goblins’ greedy love of treasure truly ran too deep in their bones. The goblins carefully weighing gold on brass scales and appraising gemstones with magnifying glasses did not notice anything was wrong at first, even when the ceiling had been torn away.

It was only the cries of alarm from goblins who had nothing in their hands that woke them from their intoxication with treasure.

Whoosh—

Under the terrified gazes of the goblins, Xiao Hei slowly lowered his head. The air he exhaled carried no foul smell, thanks to Adam urging him to brush his teeth before and after meals. There was only the pure, intense heat generated by the atomic reactor within his body.

The goblins’ sparse hair curled under the heat.

"R-retreat! Leave this place at once! Greedy dragon! This is not a place you should be!"

A goblin in a crisp suit hurried into the hall from the passageway, holding a Mithril Sword and a mithril shield.

Though his voice and hands trembled slightly, the goblin still raised his sword and pointed it at Xiao Hei.

"The treasure here belongs to us!"

Xiao Hei tilted his head, curiosity flashing through his eyes as he looked at the gleaming silver toothpick before him.

"Oh? I am afraid those who deposited their property in Gringotts would not agree with you…"

With a boom, Gringotts’ doors burst open. Adam, dressed in sun-and-moon robes, wearing a wide-brimmed wizard hat, and holding the Wand of Darkness, slowly stepped into Gringotts.

Not far behind him, the Ministry of Magic was organizing people to evacuate Diagon Alley. Wizards who had initially thought the Ministry was making a fuss immediately dropped to their knees after seeing Xiao Hei in the distance.

Adam had sealed off the space around them with magic to ensure the goblins of Gringotts could not escape. He could have also contained the battle’s shockwaves, making an evacuation of Diagon Alley unnecessary, but…

"Who are you?!"

The goblin spun around reflexively and pointed his sword at Adam. Xiao Hei’s eyes immediately narrowed.

Roar—

A magic-and-martial Dragon Breath, mixed with atomic breath and multiple elemental energies, shot forth. The goblin, along with the sword and shield in his hands, melted into the blinding light.

Although Xiao Hei had already restrained its power, the shockwave from the breath still spread in every direction, instantly shattering Gringotts’ walls and reducing a section of buildings near Gringotts in Diagon Alley to ruins.

Adam stood quietly at the center of the impact, reaching up to lower the brim of his hat, though the corner of his mouth could not help curving upward.

If the Ministry of Magic had simply crushed Gringotts outright without causing even the slightest damage nearby, how could it demonstrate how deplorable Gringotts was for choosing helpless resistance and attempting to drag the Wizarding World, which had only just regained peace, back into war in response to the Ministry’s proper and reasonable demands?

My, my~ After this, would anyone in Diagon Alley finally come around and be willing to sell their land?
