The Thunder God Cast Down to the Mortal World

Ten miles outside Old Bridge Town.

Above the desert, the stars formed an aurora-like nebula, brilliant multicolored light flowing through it as though something were about to descend from within.

The RV suddenly slammed to a stop, its tires carving two tracks into the ground. After kicking up a cloud of dust, it barely came to a halt directly beneath the center of the colorful nebula.

"This is it. Hurry up and scan and record the data!"

Still holding down the brake, Jane grabbed the laptop beside her and decisively directed her friend Daisy and her mentor Erik in the rear compartment.

Kyle secretly clicked his tongue. The girl looked quite cute, but when it came to work, she was as tough and direct as a workaholic.

However, his attention was not on the people inside the vehicle. Instead, he sharply sensed the turbulent, restless air around them, as well as the disrupted and distorted space.

As far as Kyle knew, only two things could create this disorienting sensation of several worlds overlapping.

One was the activation of the Space Primordial Stone. The other was the opening of the Bifrost.

Kyle lowered his eyelids, glanced at the three busy people in the vehicle, and shrugged as he warned, "Be careful. Something might fall down."

"What could possibly fall…" Daisy muttered, looking up through the car’s sunroof. Her eyes went round and her mouth fell open so wide that the lollipop she was holding dropped from her lips.

At the center of the gathered nebula, something like a meteor fell from within. Friction with the atmosphere turned it into a massive fireball, swiftly melting away the darkness of the night sky.

"Oh my God!" Before Daisy could react, the experienced Erik had already slapped the seat and shouted, "Jane! Drive! Get us out of here!!"

"Got it!"

Jane was one of the calmest people in the RV, aside from Kyle.

She put down the laptop, shifted gears at once, and floored the accelerator. The RV shot forward amid the roar of its engine and wheels.

Just as the RV left its original spot, the blazing meteor crashed into the desert ground ten meters behind it with overwhelming force.

BOOM!!

Like a bomb loaded with explosives, countless rocks and clouds of dust exploded in every direction. The rolling dust wave shoved the RV onward.

Having narrowly escaped death, Daisy patted her heaving chest. "Jane, I’m never coming out with you again."

"A meteor actually fell right on us. This is the first time I’ve ever encountered something so coincidental," Erik said, still shaken.

"Good thing everyone’s okay."

Jane let out a breath, operating the controls while turning back to check on the rear seats.

Kyle remained composed, half-reclining in his seat as though the scene just now had not been dangerous at all. Teasingly, he softly reminded her again, "Watch the road."

That reminder came slightly too late. The moment Jane looked back at the windshield, the front of the RV struck something with a loud, dull crash.

Jane instinctively slammed on the brakes, bringing the RV to a complete stop. Under the bright headlights, they could vaguely make out a large man in black lying on the ground ahead.

She said in alarm, "I think… I hit someone."

No, more accurately, she had hit a god. She had run over a god with her car.

Kyle facepalmed inwardly but said nothing. Only Vis and Venom were happily communicating through some peculiar sound wave.

"Ahahaha, Thor, you have a day like this too."

That was right. The person who had fallen from the opened Bifrost was Thor himself.

Three days ago, Kyle had received word from the gatekeeper that he was to return to the divine realm through the Bifrost and, as a guardian of the realm, observe the coronation ceremony of Thor, Son of Odin.

Yet this morning, the coronation had been canceled. Instead, Kyle had been temporarily assigned, as the host, to secretly watch over Thor’s mortal trial.

As for why Thor had arrived on Earth in such a miserable fashion, even without advance word from the gatekeeper, Kyle could guess that the mess in the divine realm had inevitably happened after all—

Thor had long held Mjolnir, the symbol of power, and was Odin’s chosen heir to the position of All-Father. Naturally, Loki, the God of Mischief, was dissatisfied. With the coronation ceremony approaching, he had finally been unable to resist resorting to a few tricks.

In simple terms, it was a grand family farce caused by two brothers competing for Father King’s affection.

Jane and the other two had already gotten out of the vehicle and gathered around the man in black, anxiously checking his condition.

Kyle sat steadily in the passenger seat, his heart completely calm. He cast a faintly sympathetic gaze forward and could sense that Thor’s divine power had now been sealed away.

This was Odin’s method.

"Please, don’t die, don’t die!"

Jane knelt on the ground and repeatedly pushed Thor’s body with her hands. Under the physical stimulation, Thor’s eyes suddenly snapped open. His shoulder-length blond hair hung in disarray as he reflexively arched his back and roared at the sky.

The sight terrified Jane and Erik. They reached out to restrain him, but even after losing his divine power, Thor’s strength was still beyond what they could resist.

Just as Thor was about to break free, Daisy cried out and pulled something from her shirt pocket. She flipped the switch and jabbed it into Thor’s powerful body.

A faint blue current surged into Thor’s body. He twitched slightly, then rolled his eyes and collapsed limply to the ground.

The Thunder God had been knocked out by electricity… Somehow, there was nothing wrong with that.

"Vis, did you record it?"

Kyle snapped his fingers lightly in the car. This was blackmail material—absolutely blackmail material on the future All-Father!

"Of course. I even made backup copies," Vis replied with a gentlemanly snicker.

"Give me a copy," Venom said, clearly believing good things should be shared.

The long night stretched on.

Tonight’s visitor from beyond the skies was not Thor alone.

At that moment, outside New York.

One corner of the night sky was illuminated red. An escape pod pierced the atmosphere, its painted shell wrapped in blazing flames as it crashed into a forest clearing like a meteor, sending dust and hissing smoke into the air.

A short while later, a convoy marked with the Bio-Gene company logo surrounded the escape pod in three rings.

Armed personnel in protective suits swiftly got out of the vehicles, opened the escape pod with tools, and transferred the unconscious female astronaut and everything else inside into large trucks.

When it came time for the silver briefcase, several researchers wore excited expressions as they carefully removed it and placed it in a designated delivery vehicle.

After even the escape pod had been moved into a large transport truck, the convoy lined up nose to tail and set off together, slowly heading back toward downtown New York.

No one noticed.

Inside one of the vehicles in the middle of the convoy, within the silver briefcase, one of the glass containers holding four mysterious liquid organisms was already covered in cracks that looked ready to shatter at a touch.

"Foul air…"

"And the scent of our own kind…"
