#293
The Trench? I’ll Scatter Even Your Ashes!
"What?"
"What happened?"
Bruce Wayne, who had been monitoring the movements of the Seven Seas in the Batcave, looked at Diana before him as Alfred handed her a cup of coffee.
"This foreign invasion is far more serious than we imagined."
Diana personally unveiled the mystery of the Mother Box.
The Mother Box from Paradise Island sat before Bruce Wayne.
A perfectly square box with a distinctly mechanical design.
If he had not already grown used to all the mystical nonsense in this world, Bruce Wayne would have found it hard to believe that such a square box contained enough terrifying energy to destroy the entire world.
"What do you mean?"
"Darkseid."
Diana solemnly spoke the name Bruce Wayne had heard before.
"He is the leader of an alien civilization, an existence on the level of a cosmic overlord."
"In ancient times, the gods, the sea people, humanity, and even the Amazon tribe joined forces to drive him back, sparing Earth from a fate of conquest and enslavement."
"Now, he is coming again."
"Steppenwolf is the vanguard of his forces. Steppenwolf’s attempt to seize the Mother Boxes is a sign that Darkseid will soon descend upon Earth."
"Earth is in danger now, Bruce."
"We cannot let Steppenwolf gather all three Mother Boxes. If that happens, we will have no way to stop Darkseid’s arrival."
Especially now that Earth had lost its guardian god—Superman.
"Steppenwolf is moving faster than we expected. In fact, if I had not happened to return to look up information about Darkseid and Beckett this time, he might already have taken it."
Diana took a sip of coffee and recounted in full how Steppenwolf had invaded Paradise Island to seize the Mother Box.
"A duplicate?"
Bruce Wayne’s attention, however, settled on the description of Steppenwolf vanishing after Diana defeated him.
Queen Hippolyta, leader of Paradise Island, had called it a duplicate.
"Yes. Beckett probably injured his true body badly when he descended before, so for now he can only send duplicates." Diana nodded and voiced her guess.
Bruce Wayne interlaced his fingers and sank into thought.
"Also, I could not find any information about Beckett on Paradise Island, but I brought this for you."
Diana handed Bruce Wayne a USB drive.
She had specifically prepared it. It contained all available information about the Titan Gods.
This kind of meticulous analytical work was what Bruce Wayne did best.
If even he could not get anything out of it, then there was truly nothing they could do—unless Bruce Wayne dug up the graves of the Titan Gods and brought their remains back for genetic comparisons one by one.
"Oh, right. How are things with Beckett and Mera?"
After explaining everything, Diana finally began asking about Beckett and Mera.
Before she left, Bruce Wayne had said he would handle this matter.
"Everything is calm." Bruce Wayne, who had been monitoring the Seven Seas at all times, shook his head and looked toward the seven large screens before him.
Whether through energy-spectrum analysis or other methods, Bruce Wayne had not detected any unusual activity in the ocean.
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
As they spoke, the screen in the upper-left corner of the seven suddenly sounded an alarm!
The rapidly climbing figures continuously assaulted Bruce Wayne’s sensitive nerves!
"Enough, Beckett!"
"The Trench Kingdom is right below us!"
Under the terrible weather of crashing thunder, flashing lightning, and raging storms, Mera had no choice but to raise her voice.
"Are you sure?"
With an arm around Mera’s waist, Beckett slowly descended with her onto the dark ocean surface.
Raging winds, torrential rain, and surging waves relentlessly battered their bodies. The force of nature that could normally claim lives had lost all right to show off before Beckett.
"Yes—"
Mera nodded, but before she could finish, several vicious-looking beasts suddenly leaped from the sea. Their gaping jaws opened wide as they surged toward the golden-glowing Beckett!
"Watch out!"
Mera immediately changed her words, but before her voice faded, the bodies of four Trench members had already turned to dust before her eyes and scattered amid the wind and rain…
"All right, forget I said anything." Mera wrapped her arms around Beckett’s waist and pointed out the way to the Trench Kingdom.
Whoosh!
With the golden glow surrounding his body, Beckett was undoubtedly the brightest thing in the entire Trench Kingdom.
The previously empty undersea world abruptly changed once they had advanced a certain distance.
After passing through a spectacular underwater chasm narrow enough to be called a slit in the sea, Beckett and Hela were instantly surrounded by roaring Trench creatures!
Monsters packed so densely that there was no end in sight, covered in scales and armor, with grotesque faces.
Their uneven teeth gave off a fishy stench unbearable to ordinary people, while their countless claws reflected the golden light blooming over Beckett’s body.
Their piercing cries were long and mournful, as though they were calling friends and companions to come see Beckett, another freak who dared enter the territory of the Trench Kingdom after all these centuries.
Oh, no, there should have been two of them.
Besides Beckett, who practically came with his own lighting, there was also Mera, so nervous that she clutched the man’s waist tightly.
"Be… Beckett…"
"We—ah!"
The Trench monsters packed all around them seemed to receive some kind of signal at once and swarmed forward in a black tide. Mera’s face immediately went pale!
Boom!
A surging energy storm erupted around Beckett, throwing the entire Trench Kingdom into chaos in an instant!
Flesh and blood flew everywhere, corpses littering the ground.
Every Trench member that dared approach Beckett and Hela paid the price called life.
The thick scent of blood seemed to make the Trench monsters even more excited, their piercing and mournful shrieks becoming endless!
"Beckett! Go!"
"Hurry!!!"
Faced with the black monster legion that covered the sea and sky, Mera instinctively grabbed Beckett’s hand and prepared to retreat, only to find that he was not listening to her at all.
Not only that, he actually charged alone toward the monster legion blotting out the sky!!!!!!
"Beckett! Have you lost your mind?!!!!"
Mera desperately chased after Beckett, unwilling to let him be swallowed alone by the flood of monsters.
"Lost my mind?"
"Are you kidding me?"
Beckett looked back. The proud curve at the corner of his raised lips was something Mera would never forget for the rest of her life.
A silver-white energy beam erupted from Beckett’s palm without warning, instantly piercing through the entire Trench Kingdom canyon!!!!!
Rumble!!!!!
The terrain shattered!!! The seabed trembled!!!
The monster legion that blotted out the sky instantly became food for growing fish, returning nourishment to the ocean they had inhabited for countless eras!
"These guys are pathetically weak."
Beckett, who had erased the entire Trench Kingdom canyon with one strike, flicked his hand dismissively.
I’m on an IV, so there’s only one update today. I owe you one.
The weather in Guangzhou turned cold. I took a nap at noon and woke up with a fever…
I was wearing short sleeves just two days ago. Today, I got sick just from going out without a jacket…
I finally managed to add an extra update yesterday, only to give it back today…
Extra update progress: 1/10…
