The Truth Comes Out, Allen Lends a Hand
The police were certainly efficient.
They easily found Wanda’s home address.
With Allen and Agatha in the car, they rushed to the suspect’s location.
"People inside, listen up! Come out and surrender immediately, or we will use force!"
A detective with a huge beer belly, his belt barely able to stay fastened around his waist, shouted toward the house.
Allen, who had stepped out of the police car, immediately looked toward the trash cans by the street.
They were piled with Halloween decorations. Now that the holiday was over, they had all been tossed out to await disposal.
At that moment, a tall young woman in casual clothes and an apron walked out of the house, her face filled with confusion.
Without a doubt, she was Wanda, one of the Avengers.
Like an ordinary housewife, she had been cooking at home when she suddenly heard that detectives had come calling.
Of course, her expression was merely confused. There was not a trace of fear in it.
The entire town of Westview lay within her Chaos Magic domain.
She was the sole ruler of this place.
"Wanda Maximoff, you are facing charges of burglary and intentional assault. We hope you will cooperate with the investigation," the detective said sternly.
"What evidence do you have?" Wanda asked.
"I’m the evidence."
At that moment, Allen shouted loudly from beside the trash cans.
He had a white hand-cranked cheering flower perched on his head as a wig. Sweeping aside the bangs on his forehead, he gave a dashing flick of his head and said, "Sister, I’m Quick Lewd."
Wanda’s expression changed drastically at those words.
She raised a hand, and a flash of scarlet magical light flickered between her fingers. Everyone except Allen froze where they stood.
Wanda asked angrily, "Do you think it’s funny to joke about the dead?"
"The dead?"
Allen asked in shock, "Quicksilver is dead? How did he die?"
From Allen’s stunned expression, Wanda saw that the two seemed to know each other. She could not help hesitating. "Who are you? How do you know my brother?"
"It’s a long story."
Allen did not play games or hide anything. He frankly explained everything from beginning to end.
After all, misunderstandings needed to be cleared up to avoid irreparable consequences.
Besides, Allen was not an idiot. Going wild on someone else’s turf without absolute strength was simply asking for trouble, so he restrained himself from pushing his luck.
"I heard Pietro mention you."
Having confirmed his identity, Wanda lowered her guard and told him honestly, "Not long ago, I sensed that Pietro was in danger. By the time I arrived, he no longer showed any signs of life."
"You’re trying to resurrect Quicksilver?" Allen suddenly understood.
Wanda neither confirmed nor denied it.
She could not be sure whether he would try to stop her.
As for why she had chosen Westview for the resurrection ritual, it was because the mortal world had a shielding barrier, and this was the weakest point she could find.
"If he’d been dead for less than twenty-four hours, I could’ve asked Batsy to revive him. But now, it’s going to be difficult."
Allen removed the decoration from his head and asked seriously, "How do you plan to resurrect him?"
Pietro, Quicksilver, was one of Allen’s friends. Naturally, Allen intended to help.
As for what Wanda had done in Westview, he did not care all that much. Once everything was over and Wanda withdrew her Chaos Magic, things would naturally return to normal.
"Come with me."
Wanda led Allen down to the basement.
Pietro’s corpse lay on a stone platform in the center.
But once Allen saw his face clearly, his eyes filled with doubt.
He looked entirely like a greasy middle-aged man. His blue uniform top could not hide his bulging gut, and worse still, a large patch at the top of his head had gone bald, leaving only a ring of graying hair around it like a bird’s nest.
"Did he get dumped?" Allen asked with disgust.
Allen remembered Pietro as a rather handsome young man. How had he become so grotesquely fat after not seeing him for a while?
"After graduation, he opened a Chinese restaurant and slowly gained weight," Wanda said bluntly.
Allen did not dare say another word.
Before leaving the mutant timeline, he had given Pietro a cookbook. It turned out that he had been the key reason Pietro had become unrecognizable.
The basement walls were carved with all sorts of runes, while a layer of Chaos Magic covered the corpse to prevent it from decaying.
Wanda spoke candidly. "On the night of the full moon, I will use Chaos Magic to retrieve Pietro’s soul from the underworld and restore him to life."
Within the Chaos domain, Wanda was confident that she was invincible and had no worries about outsiders disrupting her plan.
On the night of a full moon, the dimensional frequencies of the mortal world and the underworld were closest, and the mutual rejection of their rules was weakest. That would save a great deal of magic while locating Pietro’s soul and ensure that the rescue could be completed smoothly.
The underworld was not unfamiliar within mage circles. Necromancers, in particular, were skilled at communicating with that dimension.
At ordinary times, Wanda could enter the underworld through dreamwalking with her consciousness, but the loss of magical power would be too great. She might not be able to save Pietro, and she might even alert the Grim Reaper Lord, provoking a counterattack. The conflicting rules might also tear his soul apart.
"Don’t be afraid. I’ll help you."
"You’ll help me?"
Wanda did not think the neurotic man before her could be of any help. At most, he was Phantom Crown Level, which was no different from an ordinary person in her eyes.
Agatha had only barely stepped into the level of Sorcerer Supreme, while Wanda was a genuine peak Sorcerer Supreme. More importantly, she wielded Chaos Magic, giving her the ability to contend with even a lower-ranking Dimensional Lord.
Allen leaned in mysteriously and said, "Sister Wanda, I’ve got connections in the underworld."
"…"
One must not forget that Hela, the Goddess of Death, was one of the Grim Reaper Lords.
Allen had once visited Hela’s territory. Asking for the soul of an ordinary person should not have been a problem.
"Look, look, look… I can see the doubt in your eyes."
Allen said spiritedly, "We’re both practitioners of the mystic arts. I should show off my connections a little."
Wanda crossed her arms and waited for the show.
Unless she lifted the magical restriction, no one could use magic in Westview.
"Wait here. I’ll go get my mount back first."
Allen dashed outside, then soon returned carrying the frozen Agatha on his back. Acting as proud as could be, he said, "Don’t throw out your back."
Arcane Talent
Elemental AffinityThe former allowed him to easily learn any magic, while the latter increased his affinity with the elements.
As Allen stopped studying them, wine-red magical light suddenly flowed from his fingertips.
"Chaos Magic!"
At that moment, Wanda was moved.
Her signature Chaos Magic had been learned by someone else without a word.
There had been no guidance from anyone throughout the process. It was simply an unbelievable miracle.
"Allen, run!"
Having regained her freedom of movement, Agatha turned to flee, but Allen grabbed the back of her collar and calmly said, "Introduce my identity from five hundred years ago to Sister Wanda."
"…"
Agatha came to her senses, realizing that the two sides had reconciled. She composed herself and said, "Allen was a candidate for the second-generation Sorcerer Supreme of Kamar-Taj five hundred years ago."
"More details," Allen prompted.
"Any magic he saw once, he could immediately understand and master. He also created his own set of spells, which the third-generation Sorcerer Supreme, The Ancient One, listed as forbidden texts."
Wanda: "…"
