The War Ends

"After the atomic bombs exploded, America threatened Japan, saying it would drop more atomic bombs on other parts of Japan. Just as Japan was preparing to surrender unconditionally, news came from somewhere that America only had those two atomic bombs."

"…"

Chen Mu wore a strange expression.

News came from somewhere?

Did that even need asking?

It had to have been spread by that scheming Zheng fellow!

"Japan, which had originally intended to give up resisting, got this news and thought it had a chance again. It decided to fight to the death instead of retreating and continue wearing America down."

Of course, America, which truly had no more nuclear weapons, was dumbfounded. For the time being, it really had no way to deal with Japan.

Although their bombers could fly over the Japanese and drop bombs on them, they really had no way to deal with their army.

Besides, America was facing another awkward situation now.

Even its incendiary bombs were nearly exhausted.

Although he still wanted to meet more familiar faces, Comrade Li May, the master griller, truly could not make bricks without straw. There was simply nothing he could do.

Helpless, America sought out Zheng Xian again, hoping to trade for more nuclear weapons. They offered a great deal of gold, and Zheng Xian reluctantly agreed, giving them another two atomic bombs.

Since he knew they would be used to bomb Little Japan, Zheng Xian would not be too stingy.

With another two atomic bombs, America felt capable again and dropped them on two Japanese cities, Osaka and Yokohama.

Because these two atomic bombs exploded in more densely populated cities, the casualties were even greater. This time, the Japanese were thoroughly terrified. They drafted a surrender document overnight and prepared to surrender unconditionally.

But then, news came from somewhere again. This time, America truly had no atomic bombs left. Their previous atomic bombs had actually all been bought, and now even the seller no longer had them. So there was no need to worry about nuclear weapons at all.

Well then, how could militaristic Japan simply let it go at that?

After all, only a few hundred thousand people had died. Since they were already dead, why not turn them into a rallying cry for the remaining soldiers to avenge them and inspire even greater fighting strength?

So, they tore up the surrender document they had drafted overnight and declared that they would perish together with America. Japanese soldiers who faced death without fear and burned with hatred truly unleashed unimaginable combat power, catching America off guard and inflicting heavy casualties.

America was deeply frustrated and wanted to buy more atomic bombs, but unfortunately, Zheng Xian told them there really were no more atomic bombs…

"…"

After learning all this from Xu Jia, Chen Mu could not help falling silent.

This extreme back-and-forth made Chen Mu sigh. Zheng Xian truly was a ruthless man of his generation.

He had forced Japan to take two more atomic bombs head-on.

Combined with Master Li May’s firebombing, the Japanese truly suffered devastating casualties. At least nearly ten million Japanese died outright.

That was an extremely terrifying figure. Of course, the American people had done all of it.

It had to be said that the Japanese had remarkably high endurance. During that month, Japan’s average temperature exceeded six thousand degrees Celsius, yet not a single Japanese person complained about it.

"Then what did you mean when you said Japan sank?"

"Over there, today happened to be the thirteenth, didn’t it? Two years after the massacre, a meteor descended from outer space and landed west of the Pacific Ocean, near the Japanese islands. The enormous waves it stirred up directly submerged Japan’s territory."

"Fortunately, the Japanese islands blocked the waves, so they did not affect any other countries."

Good lord, so Japan alone had borne the giant waves?

"Because it happened on this particular day, people all over the world said Japan had suffered Divine Retribution. No one sympathized with them, even though this tsunami had nearly wiped out the Japanese."

"However, this also marked the end of the World War over there. Everything had finally been settled."

For some reason, hearing that the Japanese had nearly all been killed or wounded did not make Chen Mu feel any pity. It felt like nothing more than an ordinary little matter.

"Japan no longer had any possibility of continuing the war. The war could finally be considered officially over."

Xu Jia smiled as she continued, "After this World War, the Earth over there finally entered an era of peaceful development."

He just wondered what kind of future the world over there would head toward now that China possessed such powerful strength.

But none of that mattered. As long as one possessed enough strength, one could face any threat.

Truth lay within the range of cannons. In that world now, China was unquestionably number one.

Although America had detonated four atomic bombs, anyone with even slightly well-informed sources would know that all four had actually been bought from one person.

And that person was Chinese.

So in that world, who would dare underestimate China’s strength?

The emergence of nuclear weapons was inevitable. Even now, several countries were researching them, and Zheng Xian had merely brought them out two years early.

This was also a means of publicizing China’s strength.

The explosions of the atomic bombs immediately made those countries harboring petty schemes put those schemes away.

Some countries that had previously coveted the Kirin Armor immediately became well-behaved.

"The war is over. Over there, they are now preparing for postwar trials and the division of benefits."

War had never represented only justice and evil. More often, it represented interests.

Weren’t those who started wars doing so for their own interests as well?

Now that the war had ended, China naturally had to secure sufficient benefits for its people.

Therefore, it had to display strength great enough to make everyone fear it.

The Zhiyuan aerospace carrier had been directly leased to the older generation for use. To people of that era, the appearance of this aerospace carrier left everyone collectively speechless.

Are you telling me that with this thing alone, they still could not turn the whole world upside down?

Little Japan truly had some nerve. Were the Chinese people someone they could provoke?

See? They suffered Divine Retribution.

Of course, Divine Retribution was merely a folk saying. As for the upper echelons of every country, all of them suspected China.

And China gave no explanation for it, which amounted to directly admitting the matter.

If China could now easily wipe out a Japan, how difficult would it be to deal with other countries?

In short, after this war, China’s international standing rose to unprecedented heights.

A conference on the postwar division of benefits would be held, and the venue was directly set aboard the Zhiyuan aerospace carrier.

This was China’s most direct deterrent. No one dared ignore its existence.
