This Child Is Terrifying!

Watching Qi Ran disappear into the distance, Lord Sun’s expression instantly turned cold. He said to the people beside him, "Make sure you clean it up properly. Otherwise, you know what will happen to you."

With that, he left the scene without looking back.

After all, that little thing had already handled most of the work of destroying the evidence. If he had not been so familiar with Sheng Hanzu, he would not have recognized the identity of that lump of mashed meat.

The speed of a Diamond Grade Card Master needed no explanation. Before long, he had returned to the North Capital.

Arriving at the familiar underground space, the old man pressed an emergency switch to summon everyone.

Very soon, everyone who had attended the previous meeting arrived.

One elderly man with an effeminate appearance was the first to speak. "Lord Sun, what could possibly have made you summon us in such a panic?"

"I left His Majesty behind to come here."

An emergency measure like this could not be used whenever someone pleased. If the other party could not give a reasonable explanation, this would not be something that could simply be brushed aside.

However, before Lord Sun could speak, Lord Sheng said first, "Eunuch Wang, Azu is dead."

Hearing that, Eunuch Wang fell into confusion and asked instinctively, "Azu? Which Azu?"

But he immediately realized whom Lord Sheng meant. His pupils contracted violently as he sprang to his feet and shouted again, "Dead?!"

"How is that possible?! He was Diamond Grade!"

"Who did it?! Was there a Diamond Grade Card Master beside that little thing too?! Was Sheng Hanzu’s identity exposed?!"

The eunuch’s words rang through the underground space like a barrage of gunfire.

The others exchanged grim looks.

Lord Sheng rubbed his head in frustration and raised a hand to stop him. Then he said, "There was no Diamond Grade Card Master. That little thing killed Azu with his own hands."

"He can kill Diamond Grade Card Masters. Do you understand?"

"Not just Azu. Even we may fall into his hands. Do you understand?"

The old man’s string of words revealed that he was far less calm inside than he appeared.

Hearing this, Eunuch Wang collapsed weakly back into his chair. "How could that be possible?"

"Isn’t he Jade Grade?!"

At last, Lord Sun could no longer hold it in. He slammed the table and roared with an incomparably gloomy expression, "Why the fuck are you asking me?! Who am I supposed to ask?!"

"You all acted like it had nothing to do with you before. Well, now we’re all going to die together!"

The Patriarch of the Sun family, the Prefect of Shuntian Prefecture, truly felt like he was breaking down.

Eunuch Wang shrieked sharply, "What do you mean by that?! Is this my problem alone?! This was clearly a decision all of us made together!"

Faced with their argument, Lord Sheng did not try to mediate as he had last time. Instead, he let out a deep sigh, worried about his own future.

After quite a while, the arguing gradually ceased. Only then did Lord Sheng say wearily, "Are you done arguing?"

"Can you calm down now?"

Then, ignoring the expressions of everyone present, he continued, "Lord Sun and I witnessed this with our own eyes."

"There can be no mistake."

They naturally could not simply wash their hands of such an important matter.

Thus, when Sheng Hanzu had attempted to assassinate Lu Su, Lord Sheng and Lord Sun had naturally hidden in the shadows to observe the situation.

But clearly, events had broken free of their control like a runaway horse.

No one had expected a mere Jade Grade Card Master to survive an attack from a Diamond Grade Card Master.

Yes, Sheng Hanzu had been somewhat useless. Since becoming a Card Master, he had never fought anyone. But no matter how useless he was, he was still a Diamond Grade Card Master.

In the Shuběi Army, he would at least have been a Deputy Commander-in-Chief. In the Card Master Association, he would at minimum have been the President of a major city.

More importantly, that Jade Grade Card Master had successfully turned the tables on him, and it even looked as though he had not suffered much depletion.

Who would believe such an absurd tale if it were told aloud?

Any normal person would only think the speaker had gone mad.

Yet Lord Sheng and Lord Sun had watched it happen right before their eyes.

Of course, they had considered taking action. But could they definitely have taken him down if they did?

If Lu Su could kill Sheng Hanzu, then he could kill Sun Hanzu or Wang Hanzu. That little thing could simply drag things out until they died. And they should not forget that the Qilu Card Master Association had arrived at the scene not long after the battle ended.

At this moment, only four words remained in everyone’s minds:

Too powerful to restrain.

They had already missed the best opportunity to strike.

"Then is reconciliation still possible?" someone asked cautiously.

But upon hearing that, Lord Sheng and Lord Sun looked at the man as though he were an idiot. He could only laugh awkwardly, clearly realizing how foolish his words had been.

Lord Sheng rubbed his brow and casually explained, "Reconciliation is impossible. That little thing has probably already guessed that we were behind it."

"But without solid evidence, he can do nothing to us."

He said this because it had long been an unspoken understanding between the Association and the Imperial Court.

But unfortunately…

They clearly did not know that the Association’s upper ranks were already aware of what had been done to Ye Zhou. Otherwise, they would not have been so optimistic.

"What do we do, then?" Eunuch Wang muttered in a daze. "We can’t personally assassinate him, can we?"

"Did your brain disappear along with the thing that got cut off?" Lord Sun snapped mercilessly. "Did you forget that Bai Yueming has already returned to Great Ming?"

"Or do you want that old bastard to come to the North Capital personally and find you?"

Eunuch Wang’s face immediately turned red as he glared at Lord Sun as though he wanted to devour him. "You!"

But he knew the other man was right, so for a moment, he did not know how to retort.

At that moment, Lord Sheng shouted, "Enough!"

"Instead of wasting time fighting among yourselves, think about what we should do now."

At those words, the underground space instantly fell into dead silence.

After a long time, Lord Sheng finally said in a low voice, "I’ll go seek out the Spirit Summoning Society again. At present, they are the most convenient ones to act."

"If that truly does not work…"

"Then we’ll find the Demon Army."

Since it was inconvenient for them to act themselves, they could only seek another method.

Seeing that he had already made a decision, sparse voices of agreement rose around the room.

"Lord Sheng is right."

Ignoring those voices, Lord Sheng and Lord Sun exchanged a glance in secret.

There was one more thing they had not said: if matters truly became impossible, they could only throw out a scapegoat to appease the Association’s fury and pin everything on that person.

After all, that was how the matter with the Wu Family had been handled before.

"Fortunately, things have not yet reached the point of losing control."

That thought flashed through their minds.

But one had to know that not everything in this world went according to one’s wishes.

And so-called conspiracies were nothing more than exploiting an information gap. Unfortunately, Lu Su now possessed that information gap, not them.

After leaving the place where he had fought Sheng Hanzu, Lu Su hurried toward Nandu at full speed.

Fortunately, nothing else went wrong afterward, and he successfully returned to Nandu before sunset.

Looking at the somewhat quiet estate before him, Lu Su stood there hesitantly.

Before coming here, he had not been afraid. But after arriving…

It was even more agonizing than submitting a manuscript before he had transmigrated.

Just then, he felt warmth cover his right hand.

It was Kurumi.

"Junior Disciple Brother."

"Lu Su."

"Don’t be afraid."

"I’m here."

Lu Su turned to look at Kurumi, who had appeared beside him at some unknown point, and froze.

After a long while, he clasped her soft hand in return and answered softly, "Mm."

After preparing himself mentally, Lu Su gathered his courage and entered the living room.

Looking at the old man seated on the sofa, he hesitantly called out, "…Teacher."

"Xiao Luo, you’re back?" Hearing his voice, Bai Yueming turned to look at Lu Su and laughed. "Why are you so nervous? It’s not as if I’m going to eat you."

"Sit."

At those words, Lu Su sat stiffly on the sofa opposite Bai Yueming.

However, before he could speak, Bai Yueming continued, "Kurumi has already told me about the Spirit Summoning Society."

"…Huh?"

Lu Su raised his head in confusion.

He had never expected that Teacher already knew about what he had planned to confess, and Teacher did not seem angry at all.

Just as he was about to explain, Bai Yueming raised a hand and stopped him. "I believe you."

"Xiao Luo, you are a good child."

As he spoke, the old man’s eyes softened. "Those days must have been difficult, right? You had no one to confide in and could only bear everything silently by yourself."

Bai Yueming had already learned from Kurumi everything that had happened to Lu Su. Although he did not know how this disciple of his had escaped Jin Ping’s control, he had no intention of asking.

Everyone had their own secrets. He had them, Kurumi had them, and Lu Su naturally had them as well.

Moreover, a gentleman judged deeds, not intentions. From everything he knew, his disciple had never done any evil.

Perhaps the most excessive thing Lu Su had done was kill Sima Huai.

But the other party had already come knocking at their door. Bai Yueming himself would not have tolerated it either. One should not forget that he had previously taken Lu Su directly to the Wu Family’s home to settle the score.

Hearing this, Lu Su scratched his head and thought back on his experiences in the Spirit Summoning Society. "Not really."

There had been some pressure, but in truth, he had gained even more benefits. He had also made the Spirit Summoning Society do quite a few things for him.

"…You child." Bai Yueming choked for a moment, then laughed helplessly. "That’s good, then. That’s good."

"After you became my disciple, it seems I never properly taught you. Thinking about it, I should be the one who has wronged you."

Lu Su shook his head slightly.

Although Bai Yueming appeared to have provided him with little support, many things had gone so smoothly precisely because of his identity.

Not to mention all the help his Senior Disciple Brother and Senior Disciple Sister had given him.

Lu Su had just been about to say something when he suddenly froze as he looked at Teacher in the distance.

After a moment, he asked hesitantly, "Teacher, are you all right?"

Only then did he notice that Bai Yueming was far shorter and more withered than he remembered. His once straight back had also become somewhat hunched.

Bai Yueming waved a hand slightly. "I’m fine. This is what happens when one gets old."

Then, seemingly unwilling to dwell on the topic, the old man began discussing something else. "Master Fang and Master Ji have already told me about Little Ye."

"You did well."

"Without you, we would likely have remained in the dark."

Hearing that, Lu Su asked instinctively, "Then Teacher, what should we do next?"

"Keep pretending we don’t know?"

Unexpectedly, Bai Yueming first smiled. Then, with a calm expression, he said, "Those beasts caused the deaths of so many people. Naturally, we cannot let this end just like that."

"Little Ye will probably deal with that Hall of Fame Grade Demon within a few days."

"Then naturally…"

"Debts of blood will be repaid in blood, and grievances answered in kind."
