Thor: Have I Been Abandoned Again? (2nd Update)
Asgard, Bifrost.
Heimdall remained motionless, both hands gripping his sword.
Ten minutes ago, Loki had frozen him with the Casket of Ancient Winters. The Frost Giants’ divine artifact had completely restrained his vital signs and severed his connection to Asgard, leaving him unable to use his power.
But he could still hear. He could still see.
He could see everything he wanted to see, including the war raging on Midgard.
Across the Nine Realms, when it came to knowledge and secrets, he might not rank first, but he was certainly among the top three. Only Ancient One surpassed him; even Odin could not compare to him in this regard.
Asgard’s divine power and the divine sword in his hand granted him the ability to see and hear throughout the Nine Realms, even extending into the depths of the universe. Even if a planet was light-years away, as long as someone called for him, he could instantly sense that person’s existence, see them, and hear everything around them.
As Asgard’s guardian and keeper of the Bifrost, he wielded immense authority and possessed tremendous strength.
So tremendous that even the Casket of Ancient Winters could not completely sever his connection to the outside world or seal away his power.
His own divine power was enough to shatter the Casket of Ancient Winters’ restraint and activate the Bifrost, but he could only do it once. So he had to wait for the best opportunity.
He understood Odin’s intentions. The best opportunity was when Thor awakened.
Yet even now, Thor had not awakened.
Loki had activated the Bifrost and summoned Laufey and the Frost Giants. They were heading toward Odin’s Bedroom and were already close.
Loki had used Gungnir to shut down Asgard’s defensive system. No matter how elite the royal guards were, they could not stop powerful Laufey, much less Laufey and Loki together.
Odin’s slumber was not yet over. He needed more time.
Once Laufey reached the bedroom, Frigga alone would never be able to stop him. Odin would then be forced to interrupt his slumber and awaken by force. His lifespan, which only had a few years left to begin with, would be shortened once again, and Thor’s trial would fail as well.
What should I do?
Heimdall was frantic.
Just then, he heard a voice from the lower realm.
"Is that the Immortal Iron Fist?"
Heimdall had no favorable impression of this generation’s Immortal Iron Fist.
Odin’s condition was even worse than expected. In the end, it was all because of that battle with the Immortal Iron Fist and Ancient One’s warning.
This slumber would definitely last longer than any of his previous ones.
He had been watching Midgard all along. The wisdom he had accumulated over thousands of years allowed him to see through the Immortal Iron Fist’s intentions at a glance.
It was not exactly despicable, but neither was it noble.
Why should I answer his request?
We are enemies!
Heimdall decided to keep waiting.
Suddenly, a majestic yet weary voice rang out. "Agree to it, Heimdall."
It was Odin!
Heimdall did not understand. "Why?"
As a subject, he should not question his king—especially the King of Asgard, whose divine might was the greatest in the universe.
But Heimdall was different. His importance was second only to the king’s, and he had lived long enough. He had followed Odin since Odin’s youth, so naturally, he was not like the others.
"The Nine Realms are one. Ancient One understands that. Asgard will not go to war with Midgard, and Ancient One does not want me to die so soon either. She cannot suppress Hela if Hela escapes."
Odin said, "That Immortal Iron Fist is the guardian of Midgard chosen by Ancient One. He has come to help me."
"But Thor…"
"Only after he leaves Midgard will Thor have a chance to pass the trial."
Odin’s voice carried helplessness. "A layer of mist shrouds him. Even I cannot see through it. The Destroyer cannot stop him, nor can the Frost Giants. He has been holding back because he wants to cooperate with me. This is a transaction."
A transaction?
Heimdall was slightly startled. "He actually dares to make a transaction with you?"
Was he not afraid Odin would wake up and slap him to death?
"He must have support that none of us know about. Within his frail body hides a soul no weaker than mine. He seems capable of opening Time-Space Channels. Behind him stands an existence similar to the Vishanti Trinity and Dormammu… He does not fear me."
Odin said, "There is no time. Activate the Bifrost immediately!"
"I obey your command!" Heimdall answered respectfully.
The next moment, golden light shot from his eyes.
A crack appeared in the ice covering his face, followed by a second.
In less than three seconds, dozens of cracks spread across his entire body.
Then all the ice suddenly exploded, and Heimdall broke free from his restraints.
The Frost Giants guarding him noticed something was wrong and hurried over.
But with a flash of sword light, two elite Frost Giants fell to the ground.
They did not even see how Heimdall had attacked. The difference between them was like that between the bright moon and ants.
"Ha!"
Heimdall turned around, barely raised his divine sword, and plunged it into the base.
He exhausted the last trace of his divine power. His soul, eroded by the Casket of Ancient Winters, fell completely unconscious, and his mind sank into a state of weakness he had not experienced in thousands of years.
A seven-colored beam descended from the sky and struck Old Wang.
Feeling the pulling force that would soon disappear, Old Wang spoke quickly.
"Fitz, remember to control the Iron Soldiers and take away the most valuable spoils. Capture as many alive as possible. If you can’t capture them alive, take their corpses, along with their weapons and equipment!"
"Skye, after defeating the Destroyer, remember to take it away. Don’t leave it for S.H.I.E.L.D. or the United States military!"
"Wait for me to return!"
"Lady Sif, let’s go!"
A giant True Qi hand pulled Sif over.
The next moment, the two vanished.
Watching Old Wang disappear, Thor froze. The Warriors Three froze too.
Heimdall had actually ignored my call and answered Director Wang’s instead?
Who exactly is Asgard’s future king?
Heimdall, did you get it wrong? Or could it be…
Director Wang is the true Son of Odin, while Loki and I have just been raised for fun all these years?
Director Wang actually took Sif away but did not take me?
Who exactly is your brother?
Could he be taking Sif back to make her his Queen? The more I think about it, the more likely it seems.
Wang, you have changed!
For a moment, Thor was utterly disheartened.
It seems like…
I’ve been abandoned again?
Old Wang had experienced many teleportations and was highly experienced.
From individual teleportation to group teleportation, from short-range teleportation to interstellar teleportation, then dimensional teleportation and time-space teleportation.
He had long since grown used to it.
He was even somewhat sick of it.
But this time was different.
Perhaps because the distance was too great, or perhaps because the underlying principle was different.
The Bifrost’s transportation process lasted far too long.
After drifting through the seven-colored passage for a full twenty seconds, personally watching planets and galaxies flash past before his eyes, Old Wang finally arrived in another world.
"So this is Asgard?"
Before him stood a spherical temple, Heimdall’s temple for one.
This was the end of the Bifrost, as well as the energy input point and control station for the entire Bifrost.
In the distance, he could see a magnificent, enormous city. It looked like a castle enlarged thousands of times over—splendid and golden, towering into the clouds.
That was the heart of Asgard.
At the center of the mountains and countless surrounding structures stood Odin’s residence, Asgard’s royal palace.
And between Odin’s palace and Heimdall’s Temple stretched a long seven-colored passage.
That was the manifested Bifrost.
Of course, that was merely its outward appearance.
The Bifrost existed eternally. This long seven-colored bridge had only been built by Asgard to make it easier to draw upon the Bifrost’s power.
It was Asgard’s foremost divine artifact.
It was the manifestation of all Asgardian divine power, and it was even far more formidable than Odin himself.
Old Wang released his senses. In just one breath, he surveyed all of Asgard before finally fixing his gaze on the royal palace.
He sensed an extremely powerful energy entity, one that could nearly rival the Titan Keepers. It continuously inhaled and exhaled Asgard’s divine power—powerful yet aged, mentally excited yet dim.
Like a final burst of light before death.
That was Odin.
Beside Odin stood a woman in luxurious clothes, one who looked somewhat frail.
She was Asgard’s God Queen, the pride of the Vanir, the "Goddess of Sky and Earth" worshipped by the Norse people—Frigga, Thor and Loki’s adoptive mother—
That was right.
Loki was not her biological son, and neither was Thor.
Thor’s mother was Gaia, the Goddess of Earth, who had long since died after her lifespan ran out.
As Odin’s wife, Frigga had always protected Odin. She was the final line of defense for Odin’s life.
And now, that line was about to be breached.
Cold frost patterns suddenly appeared on the golden walls. Bone-piercing chill spread without end as the frost power from Heimdall eroded the bedroom, driving away the Asgardian divine power that had gone out of control after Odin’s slumber shut down the defense system.
"He’s here!"
Frigga realized something was wrong.
She glanced at Odin, turned around, and drew a sword from the weapon rack beside the bed.
A divine sword personally enchanted by Odin.
Frigga took a deep breath.
She was not much younger than Odin.
Though she still looked young, she was already old. Her physique was no longer what it had once been, not even matching Sif’s, and the divine power within her body was slowly fading. Her strength was far inferior to what it had been in her prime.
She was not a native Asgardian, but a member of the neighboring Vanir.
Marrying into Asgard had earned her Asgard’s favor, but she did not possess the Asgardians’ trait of growing stronger with age—
After all, this was not Vanaheim.
But now, she could only fight!
The door opened.
Laufey appeared.
