Thor’s Moment in the Spotlight
"Ha ha, come at me, Destroyer!"
Thor, who had been finding things rather troublesome, sensed the Destroyer’s power growing weaker and burst into laughter.
With his intelligence, he couldn’t figure out why for the moment, but it didn’t matter.
He swung his war hammer, the hammerhead spinning at high speed like a windmill. The Whirlwind Shadowless Hand he had honed through over a thousand years of bachelorhood had finally reached its moment in the spotlight before the masses.
This was true unity of man and hammer!
After more than a thousand years of day-and-night caressing, Thor’s Hammer had long developed a polished patina. Its spirit had continuously improved and changed from Odin to Hela to Thor, until it finally became perfectly compatible with Thor.
Only Thor could unleash the full power of Thor’s Hammer.
The wind rose,
Then became a storm.
Thunder rumbled,
Then became a prison of lightning.
A massive tornado swept Thor into the sky, and swept the Destroyer into the sky as well.
The damaged Iron Soldiers, the corpses of Frost Giants, and even the Frost Giants who had failed to flee in time were all swept into the air.
Like an autumn wind sweeping away fallen leaves, the gale swept away everything.
All those still alive fled the scene. The vast yellow earth was utterly clean.
Countless bolts of lightning crashed down from the sky. Frost Giants died one after another amid wails, turning to ash in death.
The smell of roasted meat spread through the air.
The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hiding outside the battlefield faithfully recorded everything with their surveillance equipment. Their hearts pounded—not with excitement, but fear—
If I’m not careful, it’s one thing if equipment worth tens or hundreds of thousands gets destroyed, but what if I get struck dead?
The powerful figures from every nation sitting before their screens were dumbfounded.
It was hard to imagine that someone could truly create a natural disaster through their own strength. This scene was fully comparable to an atomic bomb explosion. Thor was the true humanoid nuclear bomb; his threat was more than ten times greater than Hulk and Abomination combined.
No matter how powerful Hulk was, he could only wreak destruction with fists and feet. His speed was limited, and he couldn’t fly.
But Thor could summon lightning and easily destroy the framework of modern civilization!
He could destroy space stations,
Destroy artificial satellites and aircraft,
Destroy power grids and communication systems,
Paralyze all equipment related to electromagnetism,
And make human civilization regress a hundred years overnight!
Modern society was a technological society. People relied more and more heavily on technology, and their confidence in it had only grown stronger.
The legendary tales of moving mountains and filling seas could be achieved through high technology.
But when myths truly emerged from ancient times, when the gods of legend stood before them, people felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness, even the urge to kneel in worship.
Just as their ancestors had done centuries ago.
Every one of them who had risen to their current position possessed formidable mental fortitude, able to remain unmoved even if Mount Tai collapsed before them.
But the scene before their eyes was even more shocking than the collapse of Mount Tai.
They were shaken beyond words for a long time.
Everything that had happened today was challenging their worldview.
Perhaps the entire world’s understanding of the universe and mythology needed to change as well.
The high-powered telescopes provided by Stark Industries clearly captured everything happening in the sky.
Thick bolts of lightning appeared without end, while dazzling beams of flame relentlessly gave chase.
All the lightning was drawn toward the war hammer Thor swung in a full circle, striking its surface as Thor’s Hammer grew brighter and brighter.
Until it became a moon.
It was even a hundred times brighter than a full moon on the fifteenth, so bright that no one dared look at it directly for fear of being blinded.
Tony was naturally not among them.
The screen embedded in his high-tech faceplate was the best pair of goggles, allowing him to clearly see everything above.
J.A.R.V.I.S.’s voice kept sounding:
"Sir, energy intensity is continuously rising. Its power is equivalent to thirteen thousand tons of TNT, comparable to Little Boy dropped on Hiroshima, Japan during World War II!"
"It has now risen to three times, five times, ten times Little Boy!"
"Energy intensity is still continuously rising. The endurance of Thor’s Hammer and Thor is still far from its limit!"
"Sir, most suits have safely withdrawn. Veronica is unaffected due to being in suborbital space, but three more suits were struck by lightning. Your losses have increased by another 1.3 billion."
"Sir, one of your factories thirty kilometers away has been struck by lightning. There were no casualties due to the prior evacuation, but all electromagnetic equipment has been scrapped. Estimated losses are 300 million."
"Sir…"
"No one thinks you’re mute if you shut up!" Tony snapped irritably.
He suddenly felt that the Anti-Destroyer Armor and Anti-Hulk Armor were not important at all.
Screw it!
Once today’s business was over, he would immediately develop an Anti-Thor Armor!
Wasn’t it just lightning?
If Gold-Titanium Alloy armor couldn’t withstand it, then how about one made entirely of Vibranium?
Every Iron Soldier possessed the same scanning and analytical capabilities. Similar voices rang in the ears of Egghead, the President of the United States, and leaders from every country.
The power of a single person’s attack had actually reached ten times Little Boy’s yield, perhaps even dozens or hundreds of times?
Was this the planet-level combat power Director Wang had mentioned?
Although planet-level did not mean one could easily destroy planets or even stars, given enough time, destroying the Earth’s surface would not be difficult. Smashing apart continental shelves was also possible, and even destroying the Earth’s core and splitting the planet apart was not impossible.
If such an existence became Earth’s enemy, then…
How could they respond?
Was the second phase of the Cosmic Cube…
Really enough?
Perhaps they should immediately prepare the third phase?
"It’s time to end this, my brother."
Having finished charging up, Thor stopped spinning and descended from the sky with his hammer in hand.
The heavy hammer forged from stellar remnants collided with the Destroyer’s faceplate.
Burning flames and blinding lightning merged into one, forming a massive sphere of fire and electricity over a hundred meters in diameter. The continuously erupting flames and surging lightning gave even the humans on the ground ten thousand meters away an unprecedented shock.
Boom!
The two nuclear-bomb-level masses of energy shook the air, generating wave after wave of sonic booms.
The terrifying shockwave swept across everything, spreading outward at an initial speed of hundreds of millions, even billions, of meters per second. Supersonic gales and shockwaves dozens of times stronger than a Category 12 typhoon would spread hundreds of kilometers within ten minutes.
Even from hundreds of kilometers away, the burning fireball could be seen clearly.
In the eyes of the people of New Mexico, half the sky was burning.
Boom!
The Destroyer fell from the sky.
The dust kicked up by its impact was blown away by the gale. Thor descended from the heavens, appearing before everyone once more.
"Thor!"
Volstagg was the first to throw himself into Thor’s arms, ecstatic beyond measure.
"Odin above, you’re alive!"
His huge, hairy hands groped all over Thor, only releasing him after confirming that his good brother was completely unharmed. He then stepped back, dropped to one knee, and struck a pose with utmost sincerity.
"May Asgard be with you, my Prince!"
Fandral and Hogun hurriedly knelt as well.
"Get up, all of you, get up!"
Thor hurriedly helped the Warriors Three to their feet, then looked up at the sky. "We must go to the Bifrost immediately. I need to speak with my brother!"
"You only need to call Heimdall!"
Volstagg looked excited. "Thor, you have passed Odin’s test. You will definitely become a great king!"
"I’m still far from being king. I still have much to learn from my father."
Banished, abandoned, betrayed and hunted by his brother,
Watching Sif get taken away by his good brothers with his own eyes, and receiving no response when he called Heimdall.
All of it had made Thor mature.
He had begun to reconsider his life and reassess himself.
In the end, he discovered that he truly was not suited to be Asgard’s king, at least not yet.
There were also some matters that needed to be resolved.
"Heimdall will definitely answer your call, just like he answered Director Wang’s call earlier!" Fandral said.
Thor nodded.
He understood now.
Heimdall had not answered his call before because he had not yet passed Odin’s test and was not permitted to do so.
There should be no problem now.
As for why my brother could do it too…
Can I just not think about that for now?
"Heimdall!"
Holding his hammer, he looked up at the sky. "Open the Bifrost immediately!"
One second, two seconds.
Ten seconds.
There was no response.
Thor called out again.
Still no response.
So I’ve still been abandoned?
Skye’s mouth twitched slightly.
Tony couldn’t help laughing aloud.
Captain America didn’t know what to say and turned his head away.
Black Widow lowered her head, her shoulders shaking continuously.
Hawkeye laughed until his cheeks hurt.
Smack!
A green palm sent Thor flying, and Hulk appeared.
"Hulk smash!"
A pair of green eyes stared straight at Thor, burning with anger.
Skye really wanted to cover her face.
This was such a mess…
She had just promised Hulk that as long as he smashed the Destroyer, she would let him come out ten times a month.
Then Thor had smashed the Destroyer.
To Hulk, the Destroyer was a toy that could be exchanged for candy… no, exchanged for freedom.
Now that the toy had been destroyed, how could he not be angry?
This time…
There would be a good show!
She quietly swept her gaze around and said softly:
"Fitz, quickly have the Iron Soldiers move. Snatch up the Destroyer’s wreckage… Yes, right now!"
"Uh… there are still quite a few Frost Giants left alive. Isn’t that a little inappropriate?" Fitz hesitated.
"It is a little inappropriate."
Skye nodded. "Get the Destroyer into the Quinjet first. Once the war is over, transport it away together with the corpses of all the Frost Giants and Frost Giant Beasts."
"Ah?"
