#675

Those who go against fate must die

As the Heavenly Fate Blackbird, Little Black naturally knew very well just how extraordinary Xu Ke's Luck was.

Purple-gold Luck, one in hundreds of millions. No matter where he went, he could almost always turn misfortune into auspiciousness, acquire numerous treasures with ease, and experience endless Opportunity.

How could a figure like him possibly die so easily?

Admittedly, Luck was not omnipotent. Those who possessed great Luck did not mean they were Immortal. When encountering tribulations that their own destiny could not bear, there was still the risk of perishing.

However, besides relying on his own Luck, Xu Ke also had the protection of Mr. Bai's red string. Even just a single thin thread from the red string could heavily injure the top expert among the Yao Beast tribe, the Scarlet Nine-Headed. Mr. Bai's strength was truly unimaginably formidable. Little Black learned from its last communication with Xu Ke that there was still some of the red string left on his wrist. Little Black firmly believed that within this Xuanhuang World, no matter what danger Xu Ke encountered, the remaining red string should be able to help him escape alive.

Therefore, Little Black fundamentally could not understand and found it hard to accept Xu Ke's inexplicable death. It swore that it must find out the cause of Xu Ke's death.

When the Restriction imposed by Emperor Sanmo loosened, it disregarded the world's shackles and Restrictions upon itself, forcibly leaving the Beast Realm. It attempted to trace Xu Ke's life trajectory to investigate the secret of his death.

There were countless Small Worlds subordinate to Xuanhuang. Trying to uncover the truth based solely on a few words from back then was naturally extremely difficult. However, the Heavenly Fate Blackbird and Xu Ke had once been master and servant, and guided by a mysterious destiny, after spending a thousand years, Little Black coincidentally entered a rather vast Small World. The floating corpse of the Scarlet Nine-Headed in the sky made Little Black realize it had finally found the right place.

After meeting its old friend, the Azure Luan Bird, Little Black understood from her what had actually happened.

When the escaped Beast Taming Sect settled down in a Small World called the Lingxu Realm, it spent a relatively stable period of development. Although the Spiritual Qi concentration of the Lingxu Realm was slightly weaker than that of the Xuanhuang World, it could barely meet the survival needs of the Disciples within the sect. Because the Restriction of incompatible cultivation methods still existed, the Beast Taming Sect formulated two parallel future plans. First, gather the most talented Disciples in the sect, and have the Sect Leader and various Elders uniformly impart their lifelong learning, hoping that this batch of people could deduce new Cultivation Techniques in the future for the Beast Taming Sect members to practice. Second, research a method to achieve spiritual communication with Yao Beasts even without practicing the True Beast Taming Secret Art.

One was "Deriving Dharma", and the other was "Beast Taming". With both methods working simultaneously, if given enough time, the Beast Taming Sect might not be unable to recreate its past Peak.

Although Xu Ke's talent in comprehending the Dao was poor, he had a natural affinity for various Yao Beasts. Thus, at the Sect Leader's indication, he became a member of the organization researching the new beast taming method. Every day, he observed the Beast Taming Sect's supreme treasure, the Myriad Beasts Wheel, engrossed in research without realizing the passage of time.

However, suddenly one day, Xu Ke received news that his Senior Brother, Lu Ya, was heavily injured and unconscious. In extreme shock, he disregarded everyone's opposition and quietly returned to the Xuanhuang World alone.

At that time, a terrifying miasma appeared from within Mortals, filling the entire Cultivation World. After returning to Xuanhuang, Xu Ke inevitably contracted this illness. Fortunately, he was in Luck, and after seven days, he inexplicably recovered on his own.

At this moment, the dying Lu Ya seemed to sense Xu Ke's arrival and suddenly woke up. Moreover, his complexion was ruddy, showing no signs of heavy injury at all. Yet Xu Ke knew this was just a flash in the pan for Lu Ya, who had little time left, and sorrow instantly welled up in his heart.

Lu Ya merely wore a gentle expression, dismissed the others, and called Xu Ke alone to the bedside.

That night, no one knew what the two of them actually talked about.

Ever since that day, Xu Ke remained in the former site of the Beast Taming Sect in the Xuanhuang World. Until the launch of the Great Migration plan, as the representative of the remaining members of the Beast Taming Sect, he was responsible for migrating countless Mortals to a Spirit-Extinct Small World.

Leisurely a century passed in the blink of an eye.

The place where the last batch of Mortals headed was the Small World where he had originally encountered the Scarlet Nine-Headed.

After helping all the Mortals complete the final migration, Xu Ke, for unknown reasons, never returned to the Beast Taming Sect in the Lingxu Realm, and even actively severed all connections. From then on, he concealed his name and lived in seclusion as a Mortal.

Of course, it was not purely living in the mode of a Mortal.

Under circumstances undetectable by those around him, using the six heads that the Scarlet Nine-Headed had originally been hacked off and left in this world as culture dishes, and taking some mild-tempered Yao Beasts brought out from the Beast Taming Sect as seeds, he began to cultivate and breed all kinds of mutated Yao Beasts.

Xiaoqing and Xiaohong, the two flying birds that were fortunate enough to always stay by Xu Ke's side, although unaware of his purpose, also constantly helped Xu Ke record all the research results in detail.

After several generations of cultivation, the types and numbers of mutated Yao Beasts became increasingly numerous.

Although these mutated Yao Beasts were quite a bit weaker in strength than the primordial Yao Beasts, the ferocity in their Bloodlines had correspondingly decreased. At the very least, things where they attacked humans without rhyme or reason would not happen.

After many years like this, the number of newly born exotic beast species in this world had already reached an extremely prosperous stage.

One day, for some unknown reason, that Scarlet Nine-Headed descended upon this place once more.

Seeming to still have lingering fears, it lay above the firmament and surveyed for a long time. Only after seeing no threats did it finally set its mind at ease. Together with it was a brown roc. Both of them looked extremely disheveled, with multiple charred marks on their bodies.

"If I had known earlier, I would have left with Lord Diyi. Why would I need to suffer this kind of humiliation in the Xuanhuang World!"

"Without Lord Diyi's great leadership, we Yao Beasts truly become worse off year by year. We originally thought that after the Great Tribulation descended, humans would quickly perish. Yet we never expected that formidable fellows would emerge endlessly! There is simply no justice in heaven!"

"That fellow from the Purple Firmament Sect is alright, not reaching an overly ridiculous level. Speaking of truly powerful experts, back then I was right here…"

"Tsk tsk, those few scars on my head still ache faintly from time to time now!"

The two terrifying Yao Beasts conversed uninhibitedly in the sky, treating the numerous Mortals of this world simply as rations to replenish their vital energy and blood.

"Hehe, Big Brother need not mind. Once we devour this realm and recover our strength, we will go settle accounts with those fellows!" The roc stared straight at the shivering Mortals below, its saliva practically dripping out.

However, among Yao Beasts, the Rank system was strict after all.

"Big Brother, please go first!" The roc forcibly suppressed the hunger in its heart and said ingratiatingly.

The Scarlet Nine-Headed snorted coldly, its body instantly expanding once more, and its remaining three heads opened their blood-red giant mouths, intending to swallow this world into their bellies.

However, just at this moment, it saw that familiar trace of red once again.

"How is that possible? …"

This time, the Scarlet Nine-Headed was no longer as lucky as the last time.

The thread directly pierced through its body, dragging it down from outside the world.

Seeing the big boss beside it killed in an instant, the roc was immediately so frightened that its Soul Flew Away and its Spirit Scattered.

Caring no longer about any kindred affection, it transformed into a streak of black light and fled in panic.

With Mortal naked eyes, it was difficult to see the full picture of the events. They only felt that those two extremely ferocious Yao Beasts in the firmament were slain by an Immortal just as they were about to commit evil.

Rejoicing in escaping with their lives, they burst into cheers, chanting the grace and might of the Immortal.

Only Xu Ke in the crowd merely stroked the red string, which had become a circle thinner, and remained silent.
