Tony’s Message
Sokovia Medical Center.
In the underground testing chamber, a silver light flashed. Fierce wind pressure battered the walls like an immensely powerful gale, while air currents howled and spiraled through the vast space with a mournful whistling sound.
With a bang, the air rippled in visible rings. The silver light transformed from layers upon layers of afterimages into an elusive, illusory streak. In the monitoring hall outside, the values displayed on the screens kept climbing. It had just broken the sound barrier, and waves of air surged like thunderous roars, crashing against the hard, thick walls.
The silver blur pierced through the air, as though driven by an immense force, moving through boundless emptiness.
"All vital signs normal… Physical exertion approaching the critical point… Speed fluctuations stabilizing…"
Sean calmly recorded the data. Staring at the timer, he said in a deep voice, "Pietro, you need to slow down!"
"No—I, feel, great…"
His normal speech sounded like a recording stretched out endlessly. At high speed, everything outside seemed somewhat distorted.
"Ten-minute limit reached… Vital signs are beginning to fluctuate… Blood glucose levels dropping… Heart rate increasing!"
The silver blur had been running nonstop for ten minutes. Maintaining extreme speed for so long was a tremendous test for the body’s vital functions, consuming vast amounts of energy. The bones throughout the body, in particular, had to endure immense pressure.
Yet Pietro was enjoying the sensation. It felt as though he had merged with the airflow and become the wind itself. The supreme thrill brought by speed was undeniably addictive. Breaking through the limits of human physiology and moving at high speed without pause, he tore through wave after wave of bursting air currents, the booming sound crashing against the thick walls like pounding surf.
The silver blur was like a streak of light darting through the void, ever-changing and impossible to track. Spatial direction and gravity seemed to have lost all effect on Pietro. Whether he ran vertically along walls or walked upside down, he did so with effortless ease, entirely at will.
Especially after Pietro broke the sound barrier, his body seemed to enter another wondrous world. Wearing a skintight suit made from special materials, he could feel his entire body continuously vibrating at high speed. Breaking through the resistance of the airflow, it was as though he were moving through a vacuum tunnel.
"Pietro will be okay, right?" Wanda asked worriedly.
The young woman appeared to have dressed up carefully. Her brown hair rested over her shoulders, while beneath her fiery red coat were a fitted vest that outlined her lovely curves and a pair of straight, toned legs. Her pure aura made her look like a student on campus, yet her vivid red lips and the inadvertent seductive glimmer in her eyes lent her an alluring charm.
Those two contradictory temperaments blended together, weaving a unique allure around her. Like a mysterious witch from the Middle Ages, she radiated an attraction that made people want to uncover every secret she held.
"Don’t worry, Wanda. Pietro is outstanding. Like you, he has extraordinary potential," Sean said softly with a reassuring smile.
He narrowed his eyes and studied the shy, introverted young woman. What truly drew him was not Wanda’s beautiful appearance or exceptional temperament, but the unusual energy fluctuations beneath that curvaceous body. A scarlet glow flickered like a tiny light that appeared and vanished.
His thoughts reached outward. It was a strange energy he had never encountered before, like an empty void where nothing existed, resembling Chaos Magic before the birth of the universe—impossible to discern clearly.
The phantom image of the Mind Stone trembled, and Chaos Magic seemed to react. It suddenly stirred up a boundless tide of energy. Within that endless mental world, scarlet radiance erupted brilliantly, illusion and reality intertwining as though it could warp reality and reshape the world itself.
"Perfect chaos, altering the formation of probability from an infinitely changing future…"
Sean could not help marveling inwardly. The power Wanda possessed held unimaginable room for evolution, proving that the hard work of the past month had not been in vain.
Under the Mind Stone’s corruption and transformation, this young woman had gradually revealed her Gifted side. The Chaos Magic formed by the fusion of spirit and consciousness faintly displayed enormous potential for Reality Warping. Pietro was the same. His physical strength far surpassed that of ordinary people, and the steel-hard bones throughout his body had finally awakened the immense power of high-speed movement within him.
The siblings had given Sean a pleasant surprise. A speedster and a witch—two excellent cards had fallen into his hands.
After continuous training, Pietro’s speed had grown ever faster. He had broken the sound barrier in merely one month. Though this world had no such thing as the Speed Force, with long-term training and reinforcement, along with improvements through technology, breaking the limits of matter in the future was not beyond reach.
"Sean?"
Wanda was completely unaware of all this. Feeling his burning gaze upon her, a faint blush spread across her face.
"Let’s end Pietro’s test here," the young man said as he came back to his senses, smiling.
Wanda’s potential was limitless, but it was also extremely unstable and dangerous.
He had not forgotten that on another nonexistent timeline, the Scarlet Witch had suffered a mental breakdown and turned the entire world into a utopia, directly causing the Mutants’ numbers to plummet until they were nearly extinct.
Before long, Pietro gradually slowed to a stop. The heavy physical exertion had left the silver-haired young man, who was quite powerfully built, somewhat weak. He nearly staggered and fell to the ground.
Wanda hurried forward to support her brother. Pietro’s chest rose and fell after the run like a rapidly pumping bellows, and he panted heavily.
"Give him some glucose water and nutritional supplements to restore his energy," Sean ordered. Then he turned to the silver-haired young man who had officially become Quicksilver. "How did it feel?"
"It was incredible! I’ve never felt anything like it before. It was like entering another world, where everything around me changed. Those real scenes twisted into blurry masses of light and shadow, and I moved back and forth through them… It was simply an incomparable thrill!"
Pietro caught his breath and recovered some of his strength. His face was full of excitement as he eagerly described his experience to Sean.
"Don’t stop here, Pietro. You should pursue the ultimate speed—without end!"
Sean spoke with a smile. He was looking forward to the siblings’ future development. As his understanding of the Mind Stone deepened, he increasingly enjoyed the pleasure of changing other people’s destinies.
Wanda supported her brother as they returned to the lounge. Prolonged high-speed movement consumed enormous physical energy, and the bones throughout the body also endured tremendous pressure. Frankly speaking, it was not a pleasant experience.
As his speed increased, the wind pressure and air currents became like sheets of steel. Every breakthrough would become extraordinarily difficult. For now, Pietro had already reached his limit. Taking another step forward would be almost as difficult as climbing to heaven.
"Tony’s message…"
Sean was genuinely surprised to suddenly receive a call from Stark. By all rights, Tony should have been exploring the Arctic and had cut off all outside communication.
Why would Iron Man send him a message out of the blue?
"Sean, it’s me. There isn’t much time, so I’ll keep this short. I’m in a bit of trouble. If you receive this message, locate me—I don’t even know where I am. There’s a problem with the Iron Armor. I can’t contact Pepper. Luckily, your number is in Jarvis’s contact list…"
"Looks like the vacation is over."
Sean shook his head. During this time, he had finally gained control over the Mind Stone’s power. The enormous sealed iceberg had been absorbed and melted away, and vast amounts of memory and information had gradually returned.
Since Tony had run into a little trouble, Sean might as well go see what the excitement was about.
