Trade, Ambush
"We magicians have long since declined."
The man in the suit sighed and said, "To be honest, we don’t know who to trust in this matter either. But since we came all this way, we have to do something.
"As long as you take our Magic Items or drain their energy, we’ll admit defeat and leave. Without Magic Items, we have no combat ability anyway."
"That’s right. Exactly."
Quite a few magicians nodded in agreement with the man in the suit. In truth, many of them believed in Blood God and Kamar-Taj, but since they were already here, they couldn’t just leave like this, could they? What would that make them?
So, they chose to fight, but they had no intention of risking their lives. They simply wanted a battle.
"I knew from the start that your whole vibe was off."
Spider-Man complained as he hopped around and shouted at the Magician, "Hey, mister, untie me before you leave!"
The Magician did not turn around. He merely waved his hand with flair. At that moment, a missile exploded beside him, and the blast wave sent him flying. After rolling across the ground several times, he passed out.
Spider-Man was speechless. "Couldn’t even look cool for three seconds. Looks like you won’t be setting up any stalls for a while."
The magicians were equally speechless. They secretly complained, What are you trying to look cool for? Without your treasures, you’re just an ordinary person.
Mindy, wearing a purple mask, rolled her eyes and shouted, "Buying Magician treasures! The price depends on the quality, but no less than a hundred thousand dollars! Don’t worry that I can’t afford it. I’m Hit-Girl, Blood God’s disciple, and I have an unlimited card from Blood God."
"What do you take us for? How could we possibly abandon the treasures left behind by our ancestors for mere money? We magicians have dignity."
The man in the suit scoffed. Then he raised the staff in his hand and asked, "By the way, how much is my staff worth? Don’t misunderstand, I’m just asking about the price."
Tch! Everyone around him looked at him with contempt. Mindy glanced at it and said, "I saw you cast several spells with it. One million dollars."
"Really?"
The man in the suit’s eyes flew open. After thinking for a moment, he suddenly turned and aimed his staff at a Demon God Believer in the distance who was dismantling Drone Armor. He shouted, "Ancestors, join me in vanquishing evil and defending the righteous path!"
The next moment, a red beam roared out and pierced through the Demon God Believer’s chest. Before dying, the Demon God Believer stared at the man in the suit with a stunned expression. What the hell did that mean? "Done."
The man in the suit jogged over to Mindy and said, "I’ll sell you the staff. How are you paying?"
A chorus of boos rose from the crowd. One Magician shouted, "What happened to Magician dignity?"
"What’s dignity compared to a million dollars? No, wait, didn’t I kill a Demon God Believer? The staff’s out of energy now, so what does it matter if I sell it?"
The man in the suit retorted, "I’m sure my ancestors will forgive me. With this money, I can have a few more babies and make the family prosper.
"More importantly, with a million dollars, I can fire that damned boss of mine and get a new job."
Mindy took the staff and sensed it for a moment. "It’s out of energy. Eight hundred thousand. Selling or not?"
The man in the suit immediately said, "Selling. Why wouldn’t I?"
Mindy took out her phone. "Do you have Blood God Pay installed? If so, I’ll transfer it directly."
"I do. Oh, and let’s add each other. I have some Magician stuff at home too. If you’re interested, I can sell it all to you."
The man in the suit took out his phone, and the two began the transfer. The people around them were even more speechless. How far had this whole situation gone off track?
Harry transformed back into human form. While helping Spider-Man get rid of the green net, he complained, "Are we fighting or doing business?"
Spider-Man was concerned about something else. "Mindy is so rich, while I’m so poor. Last time I went on a date with Gwen, I didn’t have money to buy flowers, so I picked a bunch of white chrysanthemums off the roadside. She chased me through three streets beating me up."
"You’re rich, okay? Your merchandise royalties bring in at least ten million every month."
Harry said irritably, "Oh, right, the Spider-Man movie is about to be released. You’ll get even more royalties then."
"That isn’t my money. It belongs to Spider-Man and should be used for good deeds."
Spider-Man said, "The only money I have is what I earn from working and sparring."
"You really are an idiot."
Harry rolled his eyes. It seemed he had to keep a closer eye on Peter. Otherwise, Peter would eventually impoverish himself to death.
"Blood God Pay received: eight hundred thousand dollars."
A notification sounded from the man in the suit’s phone. He was overjoyed. "Eight hundred thousand in hand! All right, I’m leaving first. Once I sort out the Magician stuff, I’ll contact you."
With that, the man in the suit happily turned and left. Halfway there, he remembered what had happened to the previous Magician and hurriedly changed routes. He had finally gotten rich; he did not want to be blown to death by a missile. That would be far too unjust.
Seeing that the man in the suit had truly received the money, quite a few magicians were tempted. A Magician holding a sphere snorted. "What a disgrace among magicians. Watch me."
After saying that, the Magician activated the sphere. It flew into the sky and fired nine enormous arrows of light, each as thick as a bowl, toward the Demon God Believers. Two Demon God Believers were killed on the spot, while another three were wounded.
"Hit-Girl, how is my Sacred Object? How much is it worth?"
The Magician asked smugly. Everyone rolled their eyes. So the disgrace he meant was someone who killed too few Demon God Believers? "You’re the disgrace. Watch me."
Quite a few magicians activated their Magic Items and attacked the Demon God Believers. The Demon God Believers suffered heavy losses. In a short time, more than ten had died, and even more were injured.
The Demon God Believers were furious. It was one thing for these bastards to shamelessly sell their items, but why were they attacking them? Selling out their allies was taking things too far, wasn’t it?
"Demon God Believers deserve to be killed by everyone. What’s strange about that? Besides, since we came all this way, we need some accomplishments."
"Selling them outright feels a little disrespectful to our ancestors. We have to drain the energy first. You’re the most evil ones here, so who else should we attack?"
"It’s just a product demonstration. How can we sell them for a high price without showing them off?"
The magicians spoke with righteous conviction. They gathered around Mindy, introducing their wares and waiting for her to make offers.
Mindy was almost speechless. These magicians were just too American.
America, a country of merchants, a world where money came first.
Of course, the reason this was happening was that the magicians trusted Blood God and Kamar-Taj. If it really were the Demon King bringing about the end of the world, there was no way they would act like this.
If they were dead, what use would money be?
Not all magicians were like this. Half of them picked up their weapons and prepared to fight.
They wanted to uphold the last remnants of Magician dignity—yes, they had declined, but they were proud magicians. They would never bow to money.
Just as these magicians were about to make their move, they suddenly felt weak all over and collapsed one after another. Not only them—even the magicians who wanted to sell their Magic Items fell weakly to the ground.
Harry and Peter froze. Then Peter asked Mindy, "Mindy, did you poison them?"
"Obviously. Did you think I was actually doing business with them?"
Mindy said irritably, "I was deliberately stalling for time while secretly releasing poison gas to knock them out. I have to say, these magicians are way too amateurish. They don’t look like warriors at all."
Thinking of something, Mindy complained to Harry and Peter, "You two don’t count as real warriors either. One of you got set up by a hot dog vendor, and the other saw his best friend get hurt and ignored everything else just to play with ropes."
Harry and Peter flushed with embarrassment. They wanted to argue, but they had no idea what to say.
The magicians were both ashamed and enraged, wishing they could crawl into a crack in the ground. It was too humiliating—indeed, they were not true warriors. Magician families had long since declined. Their main occupations were office workers, small shop owners, and the like. Before this, they had never truly fought.
"You’re too despicable."
The Magician with the sphere cried out weakly and indignantly, "I only have one question. Are you still buying my sphere?"
The other magicians shouted in unison, "That’s right! Are you still buying our Magic Items?"
Mindy wanted to cover her face. At that moment, the magicians who had previously wanted to defend their dignity also shouted, "We’ll sell our items too."
They had already been captured, so what dignity was there left to defend? Naturally, they had to find a way to make some money.
Mindy looked speechless. "I’ll buy them. Master has more money than he can spend anyway. Once the battle is over, I’ll take them all."
"That’s good."
The magicians were completely relieved. This trip had not been in vain. They had made a lot of money and would have something to tell their families when they got home.
"These embarrassing useless fools."
Seeing the magicians collectively collapse, the Demon God Believers could not help cursing loudly. Not only had these people been completely useless, they had also killed more than twenty of them. They should have ambushed them on the road earlier and stolen their Magic Items.
What were pig teammates? These magicians were pig teammates.
The Demon God Believers were not the only ones unable to watch any longer. The human forces hiding in the shadows were also speechless. Several commanders exchanged glances and gave the order to attack at the same time.
As soon as the order was given, more than a dozen particle beams shot toward the Super Heroes—Particle Sniper Rifles, with long range and high accuracy.
Peter’s Spider-Sense let him escape with Harry at the first opportunity, while the other Super Heroes were rescued by the rushing Drone Armor—Friday had long since locked onto those people.
Seeing that the ambush had failed, those people rushed out from the surrounding buildings. There were around two to three hundred of them, all carrying Energy Guns, and some even wore Exoskeleton Armor.
It was worth mentioning that all of their faces had been destroyed. From the moment they accepted this mission, they had become dead men—dead men with no identities whatsoever.
In other words, this was a suicide squad, sent by the human forces to eliminate the Demon King’s reincarnation.
These people did not waste words. They charged toward the hospital while firing rapidly, energy beams pouring endlessly toward the crowd.
"A bunch of bastards."
Tony cursed loudly. These Energy Guns had been developed by him and Blood God. Those countries had taken the technology without gratitude, then turned around and used it against him.
Viper, who was fighting Tony, laughed. "That is human nature, Tony Stark. How does it feel to be betrayed by humanity? As long as you are willing to offer up your children, my lord can grant you eternal life and invincible power. Then you can take revenge on anyone you want."
"If I, Tony Stark, really wanted revenge, would I need anyone else’s help?"
Tony sneered. If he truly wanted revenge, he could destroy the world in three months. Too lazy to say more, he controlled more than a dozen high-temperature Crescent Blades and sent them slashing at Viper together.
"Stubborn fool."
Viper sneered. Nine green snakes formed from energy suddenly appeared behind her, knocking away all the Crescent Blades before darting toward Tony with their tongues flicking.
"Hydra."
Red light lit up on the backs of Tony’s hands. Two red lasers shot out, and with a turn of his body, he severed all nine green snakes. He even killed several Demon God Believers in passing.
"Hydra. Cut off one head, and two more will grow."
Amid Viper’s smug voice, the nine green snakes regrew their heads and continued lunging at Tony.
Tony had no choice but to fly up to evade them. This Viper was far more troublesome than he had expected, but he could handle her. He was Tony Stark.
Leaving aside Tony and Viper’s battle for the moment, Spider-Man and Harry immediately launched a counterattack when they saw so many people charging over.
Spider-Man stuck a soldier with webbing and swung him hard, sweeping an entire row of Exoskeleton Armor soldiers to the ground.
Harry transformed into Spider King. His eight legs swept out like blades, easily cutting several Exoskeleton Armor soldiers in half.
The Drone Armor activated their Gatling guns and fired wildly. A metal storm instantly swept through the area as the Exoskeleton Armor soldiers dodged while firing missiles at the Drone Armor and Spider King.
The battle grew increasingly intense.
"Get them somewhere safe. Hahaha, I’m taking on ten."
Mindy ordered the Drone Armor to move the magicians, then pulled two small hammers from her waist. She rolled onto the grass and vanished outright.
Wood Dragon ability—using plants to hide.
A moment later, Mindy appeared behind two Exoskeleton Armor soldiers. She threw both small hammers forward, accurately striking their heads. The two Exoskeleton Armor soldiers immediately collapsed unconscious.
Then Mindy used qi to retrieve the small hammers and vanished again before the other soldiers could react.
"Mindy really is adorable."
Pepper watched Mindy fight on the holographic projection in the room and could not help smiling. "By the way, Madame Gao, why does she use hammers? Didn’t she say knives were her favorite?"
It was worth mentioning that Friday had specially processed the holographic projection in the room, removing all blood and censoring some of the more brutal scenes. After all, Pepper was pregnant.
In fact, if Pepper had not insisted on watching, Tony would never have set up such a holographic projection.
Pepper was worried about Tony.
"Blood God does not allow Mindy to kill people, so he gave her hammers instead."
Madame Gao smiled. "Those hammers are actually treasures called the Dizzy Hammer."
As she spoke, Madame Gao secretly complained, How is that girl Mindy adorable?
"I see."
Pepper suddenly understood. Blood God truly cared about his disciple. It seemed they had made the right choice asking Blood God to be the children’s godfather.
"My children, it’s already this lively before you’re even born. You’ll definitely become people who shake the world in the future."
Pepper smiled as she stroked her belly. At that moment, she suddenly felt something. She grabbed Madame Gao’s hand tightly and shouted, "I’m going into labor."
