Tyrant
"What are you thinking?"
Selene noticed Yinsen lowering his head in thought. Considering the tremors from earlier, she guessed he was working out some kind of plan.
"After thinking it over, now is the best time to deal with this thing."
The Tyrant was Umbrella Corporation’s most mature and stable product. It possessed a powerful physique and tremendous strength; ordinary light firearms could barely hurt him.
To deal with a Tyrant when the weapons were not powerful enough, one had to target his weak points. Like the Lickers, those weak points were his head and heart.
The Tyrant possessed a certain level of intelligence, and his reactions were not slow. Hitting his head was no easy task; he would dodge and shield his head with both hands. As for his heart…
Under normal circumstances, the Tyrant wore a restraint garment similar to a Restraint Coat. This outfit kept the Tyrant in a more stable state while also granting him even stronger defense.
His heart could not be attacked while he wore the Restraint Coat. To hit it, one either had to blast the coat to pieces or force the Tyrant into a rage, making him voluntarily remove the restraint coat in exchange for faster movement and more powerful attacks.
Of course, that was under normal circumstances. If Leon and the others wanted to rely on their 9mm Caliber pistols and shotguns, they could only deal with the Tyrant that way.
Yinsen did not need to go through all that trouble. What he had been considering earlier was not whether to run, but whether to kill the Tyrant right here.
"What is it?"
After he had stood there in a daze for so long, the others noticed that something was off about Yinsen. Just then, faint tremors seemed to travel through the floor, as if something heavy were repeatedly smashing against the ground.
"Looks like I don’t need to deliberate anymore."
This was not a game, where one would only encounter a big boss in a fixed location. After being airdropped, the Tyrant would automatically seek out targets. Given Umbrella Corporation’s intention to test these weapons, every living thing was probably within his attack range.
Yinsen was not sure whether the Tyrant had something like a search radar, but this guy was certainly good at finding people. He always managed to locate his targets.
This time was no exception. Not long after being airdropped, Yinsen had only spaced out in the lobby for a moment before this Tyrant had already approached.
"All of you, get back."
Yinsen was only missing the words, "Move aside, I’m about to show off!" Unfortunately, before he could say that classic line, the already small wooden door flew inward. Then, a tall and burly figure squeezed through the somewhat narrow doorway.
"What kind of monster is that?"
The Tyrant had bluish-gray skin. One look was enough to tell that he was not human, and his massive body—over two meters tall—was incredibly oppressive. Robert Kend and Leon were both somewhat frightened. Even Claire, who had always seemed tough, did not know what to do.
"Should we run?"
Running seemed like the more sensible choice, but before Leon could shout, "You run first! I’ll cover you!" he saw Yinsen charge straight at the monster.
"Come back, Yinsen!"
He thought Yinsen had rushed out to buy them time. But as a police officer with an overwhelming sense of justice, Leon would never tolerate hiding behind a "civilian."
It should have been the other way around, because protecting civilians was his responsibility.
He wanted to fire his gun to draw the monster’s attention, but the distance was too great, and Yinsen was blocking his line of fire. Leon did not dare shoot recklessly for fear of hitting Yinsen by mistake. He could only watch Yinsen rush up to the monster while anxiously standing behind him.
"No!"
When the Tyrant raised his thick right arm, preparing to smash his basin-sized fist into Yinsen’s head, Claire, seemingly foreseeing the tragedy about to happen in the next second, could not help crying out. At the same time, she pulled Sherry into her arms so she would not see the horrifying sight.
Bang!
What should have happened did not happen. The Tyrant’s basin-sized fist came crashing down, but just before it could hit Yinsen’s face, it could not advance another inch. Yinsen had steadily caught the punch with his left hand.
The scene was shocking. No one thought the Tyrant’s punch was merely for show. The tremendous sound when Yinsen caught it, along with the cracks spreading across the floor beneath his feet, proved that no one should have been able to withstand such an attack.
"I must be hallucinating!"
Leon felt like his brain was no longer enough. What had happened today was already bizarre enough. Viruses could still be explained through science, and even the monster before them could be regarded as some kind of powerful Bio-Weapon.
But what was going on with Yinsen? Why could someone who looked so ordinary catch such a terrifying punch? Could he be a robot hidden beneath the appearance of an ordinary human?
What frightened Leon even more was what happened next. The big guy seemed to want to pull his hand back, but Yinsen gripped it so tightly that he could not withdraw it.
Then Yinsen twisted his body and smoothly threw the big guy over his shoulder.
Boom!
Looking at the huge crater smashed into the floor and the scattered rubble, Leon felt that if he had taken that blow, not a single bone in his body would have remained intact.
In fact, everyone thought roughly the same thing, except Selene. Yinsen, meanwhile, had no time to think about that. He was still getting a feel for his own strength.
"Looks like… my strength is a little greater than I originally expected."
The reason he had chosen to engage the Tyrant in hand-to-hand combat was partly because he wanted to test his physical condition.
Ever since he had strengthened his body with the serum, he had continued training diligently. He only knew that his physique had surpassed human limits, but he had not known by how much.
Previously, he had believed he was still far behind Captain America. Now, it seemed that judgment was fairly accurate.
When Captain America had first completed his enhancement, he could easily lift a heavy motorcycle carrying three people over his head. Later, perhaps after scientific training had awakened his previously hidden potential, Captain America could even drag down a helicopter preparing to take off.
Yinsen had merely caught the Tyrant’s attack and casually thrown him over his shoulder. It was nothing compared to that, especially since this thing could not even crush Leon, an ordinary human(?), with one claw.
Ignoring the looks of the people who now regarded him as a monster too, Yinsen saw that the Tyrant seemed unharmed and was preparing to climb out of the crater. He immediately rushed over and kicked the Tyrant, knocking him flat again.
Then he stood on the Tyrant and repeatedly drove his fists into its head.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Every punch produced a dull thud. The sound alone made it clear how heavy Yinsen’s attacks were, yet striking the Tyrant was still like scratching an itch. He could not cause it any harm at all.
"Looks like my strength may exceed that of ordinary people, but it still can’t deal any effective damage to a Bio-Weapon of this level."
After testing for a while, Yinsen gained a more detailed understanding of his condition.
Many physical attributes, such as strength and agility, could improve greatly, but without actual combat testing, it was hard to form an accurate impression of them. After confirming his current state, Yinsen no longer wanted to play around.
He jumped down from the Tyrant, who had already recovered, and let the monster rise to its feet again and roar furiously. Several parts of the coat then popped off in succession. The enraged Tyrant was preparing to remove his restraints, unleash his strongest attack power, and tear Yinsen to pieces.
Unfortunately, Yinsen would not give him that chance. This was not an arena match where anyone cared about a fair duel. While the Tyrant roared in rage, Yinsen had already drawn upon his own magic.
"There’s no Magic Energy to draw upon in this world. It really is a Magic-less World."
That did not mean magic could not be used in such a world. As long as a mage possessed magic of his own, or carried items containing magic, he could still cast spells.
It was simply that once Magic Energy was used up, it could not be replenished in this world. The rate at which one’s own magic recovered also depended on the individual mage’s circumstances.
For someone following the path Yinsen had chosen, as long as he could persist in training until the later stages, he himself would become an inexhaustible source of magic. This was also the path best suited for a mage like him, one who needed to travel across multiple worlds.
This training method had another advantage. Since magic was generated entirely from one’s own spirit, one’s control over it far surpassed that of ordinary mages. Casting magic was like using one’s own fingers, almost instinctive. Cumbersome casting gestures and incantations could all be omitted—even when using magic he had not yet fully mastered, he merely needed more time to charge it.
Magic rapidly gathered in Yinsen’s outstretched hand, forming a ball of fire that radiated scorching heat according to his will. Once it solidified, the orange-red fireball shot forward at extreme speed and splattered across the Tyrant’s face, blowing its entire head and neck into fragments. The Tyrant fell straight backward.
As the Tyrant collapsed, the Police Station lobby fell into dead silence. Yinsen walked over to inspect it briefly and took the opportunity to collect a few samples. When he turned around, Leon and the others were looking at him even more strangely than before.
"Let me introduce myself again." Seeing the strange looks in Leon and Claire’s eyes, as well as Sherry’s large eyes filled with curiosity, Yinsen spread his hands. "I’m Yinsen, a passing mage."
