Wangquan Villa, Old Su Next Door (Thanks to Qing Yi Jie for becoming this book’s first Hall Master.)
Before long, Wangquan Baye finished writing the letter and handed it to Su Yu. Su Yu did not stay long before leaving. After leaving the courtyard, he went to Raincoat Amusement Park. This place was practically Su Yiyi’s home now; she came here every day to play.
"Yiyi." The moment Su Yu saw Su Yiyi, he called out to her.
Su Yiyi turned around, and upon seeing Su Yu, trotted over in quick little steps.
"Daddy, what’s wrong?" Su Yiyi asked, looking at Su Yu.
Su Yu picked Su Yiyi up and said, "Yiyi, Daddy has to leave too. Will you come with Daddy, or stay in Tu Shan?"
"Ah, Daddy, how long will you be gone?" Su Yiyi asked with a pout.
Su Yu kissed Su Yiyi’s adorable little cheek. "Maybe sixteen years."
"Sixteen years? How long is that?" Su Yiyi asked blankly.
"Anyway, it’s a very, very long time," Su Yu explained.
"How long is very, very long?" Su Yiyi was still a little confused.
"Uh, more than 5,800 days," Su Yu said with a wry smile.
Su Yiyi looked shocked. "That long? Yiyi doesn’t want to be apart from Daddy for so long… but Yiyi doesn’t want to leave Sister Rongrong and the others either."
Su Yu rubbed Su Yiyi’s little head. "Then stay here, Yiyi. I’ll come back to see you often."
Su Yiyi nodded happily. "Okay, okay!"
After saying goodbye to Su Yiyi, Su Yu instructed Tu Shan Rong Rong to take good care of Wangquan Baye and Dongfang Huaizhu, then rode his zither out of Tu Shan.
After leaving Tu Shan, Su Yu went back to walking. He was a low-key person, after all, so he should not fly around on a zither.
Wangquan Villa
Su Yu arrived at the gates of Wangquan Villa and knocked. Soon, several Yellow Robe Taoists came out. One of them asked, "Who are you looking for?"
"I’m looking for your butler. Please inform him that your master sent me to see him," Su Yu said.
The few men exchanged looks. One of them said, "Wait here."
With that, one of them ran into the villa. Before long, a large, fat man came out. He smiled and cupped his fists. "Sir, I am the butler of Wangquan Villa. You may call me Butler Fei. The servants said you were sent by the master?"
Su Yu took out Wangquan Baye’s letter and tossed it to Butler Fei. Butler Fei opened the envelope and read it. Once he had finished, his heart could no longer remain calm.
Butler Fei quickly gestured for him to enter. "Senior Su, please, come in."
Su Yu nodded slightly and entered Wangquan Villa with Butler Fei.
Su Yu and Butler Fei arrived in the main hall. Butler Fei looked at Su Yu and said, "Senior Su, the master said I am to fully cooperate with you in training the young master. What are your plans?"
Su Yu thought for a moment. "How about this: don’t call me Senior Su normally. Tell those people from before not to talk carelessly. From now on, I’ll be an insignificant person within the residence. As for how you originally intended to train Wangquan Fugui, continue training him that way."
"???" Butler Fei looked thoroughly confused.
Su Yu smiled and explained, "Just don’t let Wangquan Fugui know what kind of expert I am. I’ll approach him as an ordinary person. That’s all. Also, please find me a house close to wherever Wangquan Fugui will live in the future."
Butler Fei nodded. "All right. The master told me to cooperate with you, and I will obey."
Su Yu nodded. Butler Fei immediately had someone prepare a separate small courtyard, and Su Yu moved in that very day.
The next day, Su Yu picked up a Wooden Sword and began practicing swordsmanship. After all, he would be teaching Wangquan Fugui in the future. Wouldn’t it be ridiculous if he did not know how to wield a sword?
Su Yu did not practice advanced sword manuals. Instead, he practiced Basic Swordplay. He trained for an entire year before moving on to all kinds of sword techniques.
Su Yu did not mind learning more. He practiced who knew how many sword moves, and once his swordsmanship had reached mastery, he stopped. Su Yu went from a complete novice in the Sword Dao to a Sword Dao Master in just three years. That was how awesome a ruler was—no arguments accepted.
Over the past three years, Su Yu had gradually gotten to know Wangquan Fugui as well. Every time Wangquan Fugui finished practicing swordsmanship, he would come to Su Yu’s place. Su Yu truly seemed to have become an ordinary person, chatting nonsense with Wangquan Fugui every day about what he would do in the future and what things had been like in the past.
Wangquan Fugui never took him seriously and merely listened as though they were jokes. Just like that, Su Yu’s place became the only place in Wangquan Fugui’s childhood where he could feel happy.
As Wangquan Fugui grew older, he finally realized something when he was six. No matter where he was, even in his own room, the family elders would drag him off to practice swordsmanship. Yet when he was at Su Yu’s place, they never did.
One evening, Wangquan Fugui had become the strongest among the younger generation. He came to Su Yu’s place, and the two lay on the roof, chatting about this and that.
Suddenly, Wangquan Fugui looked at Su Yu. "Uncle Yu, who exactly are you?"
"Me? Just someone mooching food and drink off your Wangquan Family," Su Yu said with a smile.
Wangquan Fugui looked at Su Yu and continued, "Stop lying to me. None of the family elders ever enter your courtyard to drag me away for sword practice. Your status must be extraordinary!"
Su Yu looked at Wangquan Fugui, and the two simply stared at each other. After a while, Su Yu sat up and sighed. "Sigh, I had wanted to get close to you as an ordinary person, but it seems I can’t hide it anymore. The truth is, your father was seriously injured in the past. I happened to save him, and he promised me a lifetime of food and clothing. Your father also gave his word, so no one other than you can enter this courtyard freely."
Wangquan Fugui felt that something was off, but the explanation seemed logical enough, so he temporarily believed it. Then he asked, "Uncle Yu, do you know my father? What kind of person is he? And my mother, where did they go? I asked Butler Fei, but he wouldn’t tell me."
"Kid, don’t worry. You’ll meet them when the time comes. All I can tell you is that your father used to be insanely impressive. He took a few people and charged beyond the Circle. Unfortunately, in the end, only your father and one other uncle of yours came back alive," Su Yu said to Wangquan Fugui.
Wangquan Fugui asked curiously, "Beyond the Circle? Father has been beyond the Circle? One day, I’ll go there too!"
As he spoke, a trace of excitement appeared in Wangquan Fugui’s eyes. He knew about the world beyond the Circle too, but all he knew was that it was terrifying and mysterious, a place no one dared to enter. The moment he heard that his father had been there, his image of his father instantly grew countless times larger.
