You Don’t Want Me, Is That It?
"Goodbye, foolish big brother!" Loki, who had supposedly been trapped but had actually escaped long ago, pulled off a hat trick. He used an illusion to trick Thor into the cell. Then…
Hmph. I’ve been locked up here for so long, yet you never came to see me. No need to explain—you must have been fooling around with Sif. Accept your punishment! Loki lightly tapped the control panel and dropped the cage containing his unfaithful brother from an altitude of 9,000 meters.
Just as he turned to leave, a dull thud sounded behind him. The mercenary who had released him was struck from behind and knocked unconscious.
"Do you know what this is?" Coulson made a dazzling entrance with a large gun in hand.
"Ever since you sent the Destroyer here, we started developing this." As Coulson spoke, he released the safety. With a clang, the spiral coils immediately filled with orange-yellow energy.
This gun was a weapon S.H.I.E.L.D. had reverse-engineered from the Destroyer’s wreckage. Its principle was an imitation of the Destroyer’s Destruction Beam. Though its output was nowhere near the original, it was vastly more powerful than ordinary conventional weapons and could be considered a terrifying weapon.
But Loki was a god! Though this god often found himself in rather embarrassing situations, he was not someone an ordinary person could fight alone, even if that person held a powerful weapon. Besides… if you were going to shoot, then shoot him already! Why strike a pose? The thing was fully charged, yet you kept babbling on and on. Weren’t you just handing him the chance to turn things around?
So Loki used the opportunity to switch places and drove his spear into Coulson’s chest from behind. Thus, Coulson’s attempt to stop him failed. Cause of failure: talking himself to death.
Yet with that bloody lesson right before him, Loki failed to learn from it. He insisted on chatting with the dying Coulson, only to be blasted into the wall by a shot. Awkward again…
Meanwhile, Hawkeye was also in the middle of withdrawing. Although his plan to cripple the Helicarrier had failed, he had at least completed the crucial missions of rescuing Loki and dividing the Avengers.
He was walking through a hidden passage when he suddenly sensed movement behind him. Without a second thought, he drew his sword, spun around, and used his E skill on the ground. Unfortunately, the one ambushing him was Black Widow, Natasha.
Not only was she a top agent evenly matched with him, but she was also an old teammate who had fought alongside him for years. She was intimately familiar with his tactics and easily dodged the attack.
Seeing that there was no way to end the fight quickly, Hawkeye could only prepare for close combat. He believed that even in hand-to-hand fighting, he might not lose to Black Widow. Unfortunately, she had not come alone.
Swoosh—smack! A crisp crack rang out, followed by the sound of something cutting through the air behind him. Hawkeye, who had been staring down Black Widow, was tied up tight before he could react.
Sarah’s figure slowly appeared behind him. How could she possibly rest easy while her little lover went to meet a potential romantic rival? Of course she had followed along. With a light tug, she sent Hawkeye crashing to the ground.
"Honestly, it’s only because it’s you." Sarah said with a look of disgust. "Otherwise, aside from the boss’s orders, I would never tie up a man."
"Hm?" Natasha raised an eyebrow. Sarah immediately tossed her a flirtatious wink. "Of course, if it’s a woman, I’ll try my best to tie up only you from now on~"
"Focus." Natasha rolled her eyes and crouched down to inspect the struggling Hawkeye. "Evenson said that to remove Loki’s control, the best method was to Slam his head and recalibrate his consciousness. But…" Natasha asked awkwardly, "How hard should we hit him? Do you know?"
Sarah raised her leg with a sweet smile. "One kick from me, and I guarantee the control will be removed."
"Heh…" Natasha gave a dry laugh. If she let Sarah do that, the control might indeed be lifted, but Hawkeye would probably spend the rest of his life lying in bed, drooling vacantly. Sigh, she should do it herself.
And so, the special squad that had come to rescue Loki was completely wiped out. Only the pilot remained, fleeing with Loki in the aircraft. This case taught everyone that lying low and quietly farming in the back, pushing the cart and whatnot, was not necessarily a bad thing.
Meanwhile, in the command center, Carter was asking Dottie why she had returned.
"Why did I come here? Of course it was to see you." Dottie smiled brightly. "Do you know how difficult it was for me to hitch a ride on this flight? What, don’t I get a big hug?" With that, she opened her arms and walked over enthusiastically.
"Stand right there. Don’t move." Carter was utterly unmoved. She warily drew Havoc and aimed it at Dottie. She knew exactly how troublesome the woman before her was.
"Oh? Is this how you treat me, Peggy?" Dottie looked heartbroken, covering her eyes with both hands as a sob entered her voice. "Have you forgotten who stayed by your side and took care of you for twenty years after you retired? And now you’re pointing a gun at me. You’ve truly broken my heart."
"Oh, so now that you’re back with S.H.I.E.L.D. and reunited with your old flame, you’re planning to dump me? I was just a toy to you, wasn’t I?" If anyone wanted to know what resentment and the bitterness of an abandoned wife looked like, they only had to watch Assassin Dottie’s performance.
There was definitely a story here. The bystanders, who had no idea what was going on, immediately took out cola and popcorn and sat down in a row.
Even Nick Fury felt that this old predecessor of his had probably done something terrible, like abandoning a lover after having his way with her. He edged a little closer, ready to claim a front-row seat.
But before he had taken two steps, his expression changed drastically. One eye bulged wide as he finally understood why Dumen, who clearly had not been on this level, had suddenly appeared in the room.
He saw a huge hole in the floor. Beside it crouched a Husky, scratching itself with a hind leg…
What the hell?! Huskies tearing apart homes and digging holes might be instinctive, but this floor is made of alloy! You can dig through that too? And you dug it from the bottom up?
"What are you looking at, Black Baldy?" After noticing Nick Fury’s gaze, Hubbs said unhappily, "You might not believe it, but your floor attacked first."
Nick Fury: "…" If there weren’t so many people around, I’d bite you to death!
Dottie’s sobbing was mournful and lingering enough to echo for three days. Carter finally could not take it anymore and shouted, "Enough, Dottie! Your so-called care was showing up at my house every few days with a water gun to scare me? And you’re a Sleeper, Dottie. You’ve been lying to me all these years. You never retired at all."
At that question, Dottie’s crying stopped immediately. She lowered her hands from her face, and there was not a single tear in her eyes. Smacking her lips, she said, "You’re so boring, Little Pei. And I’m not a Sleeper."
"I’m a Deep Sleeper."
