A Generous Gift from the U.S. Military

Norman Osborn had voluntarily chosen to activate his mutant genes.

Although his relationship with the Mutant Nation was extremely close and still in its honeymoon phase, and Magneto and Professor X had promised to resolve his genetic defects, Norman, as a successful businessman, did not believe in verbal promises.

After careful deliberation, he decided to become one of the mutants.

When everyone was a mutant, surely they would not stand by and watch one of their own die, right?

Professor X and Magneto naturally welcomed his proposal. They had previously worried that once they cured his illness, he would distance himself and stop concerning himself with mutant affairs.

However, even though he was activating his X-Gene, Norman worried that something unfortunate might happen and leave him neither human nor ghost. Fortunately, Magneto could solve that problem.

Magneto’s Magnetic Field Rotation had reached the Ninety-Seven Heavens long ago, enough to alter genes. He could activate Norman’s X-Gene first, and if Norman was dissatisfied, erase it and give him one he liked better.

Unfortunately, Norman and his son were both rather unlucky. Their mutant abilities were quite poor. Or rather, the abilities of most mutants were quite poor.

So Magneto erased their abilities again and let them choose genetic templates they were satisfied with. Norman and his son both chose Magneto’s Magnetic Field Control ability. Magneto did not refuse.

In fact, both of their Magnetic Field Control abilities had long since been activated. Their performance on the stage today was purely an act for the audience.

Others had not noticed, but Zhan Liu saw through it at once.

Holy shit!

Old Magneto is really generous!

Zhan Liu was so envious he practically drooled, muttering to himself inwardly.

If I join the mutants now and trade for Magnetic Field Control, I wonder if Old Magneto would agree.

Come to think of it, there doesn’t seem to be any grudge between us. I even helped you cultivate.

Without me, would you have known how to use magnetic fields?

Without me, could you have reached the Ninety-Seven Heavens so quickly?

Without me, mutants could forget about founding a nation in this lifetime!

While Zhan Liu was considering how to persuade Magneto, the ceremony onstage had reached Raven’s coronation.

Raven stood on the stage in formal attire, bowing her head slightly. Charles and Erik jointly lifted the crown and placed it upon her head.

All the mutants watched this moment excitedly. They rose to their feet, ready to applaud and cheer.

But several streaks of light tore through the air and hovered above the stadium. A mechanical voice descended from the sky.

"Erik Lehnsherr, you are under arrest for crimes against humanity. Drop your weapons and surrender immediately. You have the right to remain silent…"

The entire venue erupted. Some of the cleverer people had already started slipping away, but the fearless reporters excitedly aimed their cameras at the flying robots above, especially the U.S. Military insignias on their chests.

It had to be said, Americans really knew how to court death.

If it had been a more scheming country, they would surely have printed the insignia of a hostile nation on their chests. That way, if the operation failed, someone else would take the blame.

Of course, it could also be seen as the U.S. Military’s confidence.

After all, even Zhan Liu, who had matched Magneto blow for blow, could not defeat an ordinary Sentinel Type-3 Robot. What had appeared now were ten mass-produced Type-3 Robots.

Anyone who had learned elementary school math knew this round was in the bag.

What could Magneto use to stop them?

Zhan Liu sat in his seat, chuckling.

Coming here was not a waste after all!

Go on!

Keep courting death!

Let’s see how many of those so-called big shots lose their heads after today!

A vicious gleam flashed across Magneto’s face. He had clearly been disgusted by this as well.

Some of the more hot-tempered mutants immediately shouted curses and launched attacks at the Sentinel Robots in the sky.

It was a dazzling sight. All kinds of energy attacks—multicolored beams, light blasts, and flames—bombarded the sky. Every single strike was no weaker than a missile.

But to the Sentinel Robots, these attacks were practically nothing and could be ignored completely. Even without factoring in the Ultimate Protective Qi shielding them, the sheer durability of the True Adamantium Alloy meant these attacks could not harm them.

After being attacked, the AI within the Sentinel Robots automatically began to retaliate. A casual strike from them carried power above the Ninetieth Heaven of Magnetic Field Rotation. If one landed solidly, it could destroy an entire city.

The ordinary humans attending the ceremony, whether media reporters or diplomats from various countries, were not considered in their calculations at all. Clearly, they had all been classified as "acceptable combat losses."

Magneto could no longer continue the ceremony. With a hurried wave of his hand, he used his long-unused remote-control ability to haul all ten Sentinel Robots toward outer space.

The other mutants were not idle either. With a gesture from Iceman, a vast ice wall appeared across the sky, blocking the heavens. Even as the ice wall shattered, it regenerated at a rate of meters per second. This ability had clearly reached the peak of an Omega-Level Mutant, not far from the comic-book level of freezing the entire Earth.

Behind the ice wall, a huge spatial gate opened. Blink mischievously opened its other end above a certain city. Through the portal, they could clearly see panicked civilians fleeing frantically on the other side.

Compared with the time Blink had intercepted Magneto, when she had needed great effort to open a tiny portal, her current enhancement could no longer be described as enormous. It was simply a qualitative transformation.

Zhan Liu found it utterly unbelievable that the mutants had suddenly evolved from their film-and-television versions into comic-book versions. The sense of incongruity in his heart grew stronger and stronger.

Even if you’re cheating, you need to give a barely plausible explanation!

Or had something happened that he was being kept in the dark about?

After Blink opened the spatial gate, Iceman’s ice could no longer hold. Though these were merely casual attacks from ten Sentinel Robots, they were not something ordinary mutants could withstand. Even Robert, now an Omega-Level Mutant, could not do it!

Ten shockwaves shattered through the ice, carrying fragments with them as they howled into the spatial gate. Amid the screams of the civilians on the other side, they crashed into the center of the city.

With a thunderous boom, a mushroom cloud passed through the spatial gate from the other side and billowed out here as well, frightening Blink into hastily closing the portal.

A group of mutants screamed and cheered, celebrating that no one had been injured.

But Professor Charles glared at them and gave the nearby camera a meaningful look. They sheepishly withdrew their gloating expressions and pretended nothing had happened.

Only Pyro John quietly leaned close to Blink and reminded her, "You should have opened ten portals just now."

Blink stuck out her tongue. "I was too rushed. It didn’t occur to me in the moment."
