Ability Fusion and Enhancement

What? Richard froze for a moment after hearing Inessa’s words.

Though he had no idea what Inessa was plotting, he still answered her.

"No!"

"No? What a shame."

"If she were your girlfriend, training you in front of her would definitely be more interesting."

Inessa stared at Richard with a serious expression.

Training me? Judging by what Inessa was wearing, Richard had already guessed she was no respectable woman, but he had not expected her to want to train him.

"Don’t worry, you’ll never get that chance!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Richard used Flash.

Since Inessa also possessed Flash, he chose to use it to close the distance, preventing her from escaping Octaslash’s attack range.

In an instant, he flashed directly in front of Inessa.

Octaslash! The Masamune flashed as it swung!

Though both were slashing techniques, compared to Earth Shake and Sky Tremor, which only delivered four consecutive slashes, Octaslash was not only faster but far more powerful.

Facing Richard’s Octaslash, Inessa did not dodge and simply stood where she was with a calm expression.

However, just as she tried to knock the Masamune from Richard’s hand, she sensed that something was wrong, and her expression changed instantly.

Unlike the casual slashes Richard had thrown out in the restaurant, the Octaslash he was using now was Sephiroth’s signature skill.

Flash!

Realizing something was wrong, Inessa immediately used Flash, attempting to evade Richard’s Octaslash.

Her reaction was quick!

Her Flash was not slow either! But even so, the sharp Masamune still sliced across her body.

Ssh! The Masamune touched her slender waist, and she felt its icy touch along with the intense pain of her body being cut open.

As a mutant agent who had awakened three superpowers and possessed an impressive record, Inessa held no low position in the Department of Mutant Affairs Los Angeles Branch.

Not only that, her strength ranked among the top five in the Los Angeles Branch.

Yet even she had made a fatal mistake.

She had underestimated Richard and Octaslash! The intense pain in her waist interrupted the Flash she had yet to unleash.

Then, as disbelief appeared on her face, the Masamune repeatedly slashed across her body.

Ssh, ssh, ssh, ssh, ssh, ssh…

In an instant, her sexy, fiery body was torn to pieces. Blood and flesh flew everywhere as severed limbs fell to the ground.

After killing Inessa, Richard did not hesitate for a second and immediately activated the "Plunder" superpower.

New abilities acquired: Mental Charm, Flash, Knockback!

Same-type abilities acquired. Ability Fusion activated!

Flash enhanced!

After Plundering Inessa’s superpowers, he did not examine the ability descriptions provided by the system in detail. Holding the Masamune, he charged at the remaining Special Forces Members.

Without much effort, he killed the remaining Special Forces Members in a flash.

When the two Mutant Agents facing Sabretooth saw Richard kill Inessa with the over-two-meter-long Masamune, shocked expressions appeared on their faces.

How was that possible?

How could Inessa have died at the hands of a mutant who had only just awakened his superpowers? It made no sense!

Although they had watched Richard kill Inessa with their own eyes, the two Mutant Agents still could not believe what they were seeing.

Not only that, they even wondered whether they were hallucinating.

But they soon learned that it was not an illusion.

Because after killing those Special Forces Members, Richard immediately launched an attack on the two of them.

Zanshin!

Richard casually swung the Masamune in his left hand.

As the Masamune fell, six or seven crescent-shaped sword energies shot toward them at tremendous speed.

Though the two Mutant Agents had not witnessed Richard use Zanshin against the Special Forces Members earlier, they did not dare let down their guard. They immediately leaped aside, avoiding the incoming sword energies.

The sword energies flew past them and instantly pierced through the restaurant’s walls and ceiling, leaving the restaurant in ruins.

Sabretooth did not know Inessa, nor did he think Richard killing her was particularly unimaginable.

When he saw the two Mutant Agents separate to evade Zanshin’s sword energies, he did not hesitate and immediately pounced on the one closest to him.

At the same time, Richard flashed in front of the other mutant agent and unleashed Earth Shake.

Four lightning-fast slashes instantly struck the mutant agent, chopping him into chunks of flesh of varying sizes.

After killing him, Richard activated the "Plunder" superpower again.

New abilities acquired: Super Strength, Super Constitution!

Same-type abilities acquired. Ability Fusion activated!

Super Strength and Super Constitution enhanced!

He ignored the System Messages in his vision and began attacking the last mutant agent.

Working together with Sabretooth, he quickly took the mutant agent’s life.

Before Sabretooth snapped the mutant agent’s neck, Richard had already pierced his heart with the Masamune.

Then, without drawing attention, he activated Plunder.

Although he had Plundered seven superpowers from Inessa and the other two, Richard’s total number of superpowers had not increased by much—only two.

He had known from the start that Plundering same-type abilities would fuse and enhance them, so this did not surprise him.

While there were many mutants, many of them possessed similar or identical superpowers.

Take Super Strength and Super Constitution, for example. Both were extremely common superpowers.

However, even the same Super Strength and Super Constitution could differ greatly.

Some people’s Super Strength only allowed them to lift several dozen tons.

Others could easily lift tens of thousands of tons with their Super Strength.

After closing the Information Panel that only he could see, Richard returned the Masamune to the System Space.

Just as he was preparing to use Flash to leave, Sabretooth stopped him.

"Are you Richard Wesley?"

"Is Roy Wesley your father?"

Sabretooth asked Richard.

"You know my father?"

Richard looked at Sabretooth in surprise.

"When your father was younger, I dealt with him a few times."

"I heard he founded a mutant organization called Crimson Manor. I came here specifically to find him."

Sabretooth continued.

"You’re too late. My father was captured by Department of Mutant Affairs agents a few days ago."

"As for Crimson Manor, I disbanded it just a few hours ago."

Richard looked calmly at Sabretooth.

Although he did not possess Telepathy yet and only had Mental Isolation, he could tell that Sabretooth was not lying.

Just as Sabretooth was about to say something else, police sirens sounded in the distance.

"Let’s get out of here first."

After saying that, Sabretooth looked toward the five-story apartment building across the street and waved at Clarice on the rooftop.

After seeing him wave, Clarice immediately used her superpower to create a Spatial Gate connected to the rooftop.

The moment the Spatial Gate formed, Sabretooth stepped through it.

Richard glanced at the Spatial Gate before him, then followed Sabretooth through it and arrived on the apartment building’s roof.

After both of them reached the rooftop, Clarice first closed the Spatial Gate before her, then raised her right hand and tossed out a ball of purple energy.

The thrown purple energy rapidly expanded, instantly transforming into a Spatial Gate leading to the Suburbs.

Can she only open one Spatial Gate at a time now? Richard could not help thinking as he looked at Clarice.
