Action

"Let’s go!" Alex swept his gaze over the ruined forest. After confirming that no beastmen had survived, he immediately activated Teleportation and led Nick and the others deeper into Mount Wundagore.

After several successive teleports, Alex finally pinpointed where Apocalypse and the High Evolutionary were fighting. As expected, forces such as Hydra were lurking outside their battlefield, eager to make a move.

Alex did not reveal himself immediately. He wrapped Nick and the others in energy and hid nearby.

"Is that Apocalypse?" Nick immediately noticed the figure in the center of the battlefield, fiercely battling the High Evolutionary. An indescribable emotion flickered in his single eye, as though he was worried about something.

Apocalypse and the High Evolutionary’s combat strength surpassed all expectations, and their battle was exceptionally fierce. The trees within several hundred meters had been completely destroyed, while even the hard mountain rocks had been shaved down by a layer. Fine stone fragments covered the ground.

Alex was also stunned by their battle. He had long been mentally prepared for Apocalypse’s strength. What he had not expected was that the High Evolutionary, whom he had met only once before, would actually be evenly matched with him, falling short only in combat experience.

"Should we help?" Clint stood behind the three of them, gripping his metal bow in one hand. With a hint of excitement, he cautiously asked, "And who are we helping? Or do we fight both of them?"

Alex glanced sideways at Clint, a faint smile flashing across his face. He shook his head and said, "No rush. Let’s watch for now." The Gene Bomb had already been dismantled, and the crisis was basically over. Alex did not mind watching the show a little longer.

As soon as he finished speaking and withdrew his gaze, Alex unexpectedly noticed someone approaching the battlefield. They appeared to be a superpowered individual capable of invisibility, though he did not know whether they were a mutant or something else.

"Hehe, someone couldn’t resist making a move!" With a chuckle, Alex’s expression gradually turned serious. His Psionic Power firmly locked onto the invisible superpowered individual. "Strange. They’re actually with Hydra!" As he locked onto them, Alex unexpectedly spotted the Hydra emblem on their uniform.

"Mutants aren’t the only ones with superpowers!" Natasha looked both amused and exasperated at Alex’s confusion. "There are plenty of extraordinary people among humans, and they possess all kinds of special abilities too. Isn’t the High Evolutionary one of them?"

Hearing Natasha’s explanation, the first figure that came to Alex’s mind was neither the High Evolutionary nor the Mandarin, another human, but the old man capable of magic whom he had encountered in western China. Even now, Alex still feared him, because the more he learned, the more he understood just how powerful that old man had been.

"The others are making their move too!" Alex’s memories were interrupted by Nick’s startled cry. Turning his head, he saw that the Hellfire Club and the Brotherhood of Mutants had finally lost their patience and begun sending people into the battle. They were all formidable experts, as could be seen from the powerful energy surging from their bodies.

At the center of the battlefield, Apocalypse and the High Evolutionary had noticed forces like Hydra long ago. However, since they had not made any moves, the two had ignored them. But now that Hydra and the others had acted, they could no longer overlook them. After exchanging a glance, Apocalypse and the High Evolutionary tacitly stopped fighting at the same time, then turned and charged at Hydra and the others.

This scene caught everyone present by surprise. No one had expected the two people who had just been fighting desperately to separate peacefully. Were they not afraid that their opponent would seize the chance to attack?

But Red Skull and the others had no time to think. Seeing Apocalypse and the High Evolutionary charging toward them so aggressively, they could only fight and risk their lives.

"We’re going too!" Seeing Red Skull and the others entangled with Apocalypse and the High Evolutionary, Alex’s expression darkened. He dispelled the energy camouflage concealing them, gave a low shout, and rushed forward first. More than a dozen steel balls arrived ahead of him, transforming into a dense blade formation that descended upon Apocalypse.

In Alex’s eyes, Apocalypse was clearly far more dangerous than the High Evolutionary.

It was only after Alex rushed out that Nick and the other two reacted and followed him forward. Yet young Clint still looked utterly confused. He had not figured out why they had to charge in too. Wouldn’t it be better to let them fight each other?

"Hydra and the others are no match for those two. If they’re completely wiped out, we’ll be in danger too!" Seeing the confusion on Clint’s face, Natasha pulled out a compact pistol and attacked the High Evolutionary while explaining without looking back. "The most important thing now is to contain those two!"

Alex continuously accelerated the blade formation formed from the steel balls. Carrying bursts of sonic booms, the dense formation closed in on Apocalypse with lightning speed.

Just as Alex was preparing to fire another Energy Impact Beam, the blade formation that had been under his Psionic Power suddenly lost contact, like kites with their strings cut. It no longer obeyed his control at all.

"What’s going on?!"

Alarmed, Alex focused his eyes and discovered that the thin blades seemed to have been blocked by something. They had stopped in midair, still a meter away from Apocalypse.

"Can he control magnetic fields too?" Alex sensed a familiar energy around Apocalypse: a magnetic field!

Alex immediately grew tense, and his advance slowed. From afar, he fired several Impact Beams and slowly continued closing in.

Before the Red Impact Beams could truly approach Apocalypse, a circle of translucent pale-blue protection suddenly appeared around him.

The Red Impact Beams struck the pale-blue Force Field. Amid dazzling red and blue light, the transparent Force Field trembled slightly a few times before calming down again. The Impact Beams vanished as though nothing had happened.

"This is troublesome." Alex could tell that the pale-blue Force Field surrounding Apocalypse was not an energy barrier, but a special force field capable of diverting all energy attacks. Even Energy Control could do nothing against it.

The steel balls could not get close to Apocalypse, while energy attacks were diverted. It was as though all of Alex’s abilities had been completely countered by Apocalypse. Despite his overwhelming strength, he could not pose any threat to him!

"Close combat?" A new idea immediately surfaced in Alex’s mind, but when he saw the incomparably heavy armor on Apocalypse’s body, he hesitated.

As Alex stared at Apocalypse in deep thought, his eyes suddenly lit up. Like searchlights, they locked firmly onto the armor on Apocalypse’s body.
