Facing Apocalypse’s Wrath

Alex was not the only one attacking Apocalypse; several mutants from the Hellfire Club joined in as well. Although Apocalypse blocked all of their attacks, they also exposed some of his secrets. For example, the magnetic field and the force field that redirected energy attacks were both generated by the armor he wore!

Having discovered Apocalypse’s weakness, Alex’s confidence surged. With a faint smile, he used Teleportation to appear directly in front of Apocalypse. He threw one fist at Apocalypse’s face while his other hand discreetly jabbed toward his chest.

Alex’s approach seemed to have been within Apocalypse’s expectations all along. A savage grin appeared on Apocalypse’s blue face, cruelty glinting at the corners of his mouth. "Good. Very good!"

After a few muttered words, Apocalypse threw a punch as well, completely ignoring Alex’s attack.

Bang! Bang!

Two dull impacts rang out in quick succession. Alex’s fist struck Apocalypse’s head first, and his other hand did not miss either. But to Alex’s horror, it felt as though both hands had struck cotton. He had only experienced that sensation when fighting Sebastian Shaw!

"Energy Absorption!" A flash of insight struck Alex, and he immediately thought of a possibility.

As Alex reeled in shock, Apocalypse’s fist landed on him as well. Apocalypse had also noticed Alex’s unusual nature. The mockery on his face gradually faded, replaced by a trace of approval. "Submit to me, and I will grant you supreme glory!"

"In your dreams!" Alex snorted coldly. His immense Psionic Power burst forth instantly, forming a sharp spike that viciously stabbed toward Apocalypse’s head. With most of his abilities rendered useless, Alex could only place his hopes on his overwhelming Psionic Power.

Another surprise followed. Apocalypse possessed telepathy as well. Although the quality and quantity of his Psionic Power could not compare to Alex’s, it was more than enough to defend against Alex’s assault.

Seeing all his trump cards fail, Alex finally understood why he had felt fear upon seeing Apocalypse before. Apocalypse truly was his nemesis, even more terrifying than Thanos had been!

With a silent sigh, Alex surveyed the battlefield. Under the combined assault of so many powerful opponents, neither Apocalypse nor High Evolutionary showed the slightest sign of weakness. Instead, they fought with increasing ferocity, gradually seizing the initiative.

"Leave this place to you!" Alex shouted at Sebastian Shaw, Black Queen, and the others rushing over. He then activated Teleportation, intending to abandon Apocalypse and go cause trouble for High Evolutionary.

Unfortunately, before Alex could make a move, Apocalypse’s counterattack arrived.

"Trying to run? No chance!"

With a low shout from Apocalypse, his arms rapidly stretched like rubber bands. He clenched his hands through the air and actually dragged Alex out of mid-teleportation.

Alex even forgot to fight back. He blankly allowed Apocalypse to drag him back, with only one thought in his mind: How did Apocalypse pull me out?

Alex’s Teleportation was no ordinary spatial transfer, not the kind of spatial blink that relied on movement through another dimension. Teleportation required no medium—though one did exist, Alex simply did not know it yet. As long as his mind projected itself somewhere, he could instantly teleport there. It was impossible for him to be dragged out midway unless something had gone wrong with Alex himself!

Seeing Alex captured by Apocalypse, Nick and Natasha, who were entangled with High Evolutionary on the other side, immediately grew tense. They wanted to intervene, but there was nothing they could do. They had no superpowers, and the weapons in their hands probably could not even hurt Apocalypse, much less rescue Alex.

"Watch this!" Clint had been staying beside Nick and Natasha. Noticing their expressions, he shouted proudly, reached into the quiver on his back, and pulled out an arrow. He nocked it and drew the bow in less than a second. The black arrow shot out with a whoosh, like a streak of black lightning.

In the blink of an eye, the lightning-fast black arrow passed through Apocalypse’s pale blue force field and magnetic field once again. It appeared almost miraculously before Apocalypse’s forehead, about to pierce his skull.

The black arrow finally sank into Apocalypse’s forehead, then punched through it without slowing, leaving a hole as it flew out the back of his head.

The sight filled everyone with excitement, whether it was Nick’s group of three or the Hellfire Club and the other factions. But Alex, held close by Apocalypse, noticed something strange. Despite such a grievous wound, not a single drop of blood came from Apocalypse’s injury! More importantly, the thumb-sized hole was rapidly healing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Within a few breaths, the horrifying hole in Apocalypse’s forehead vanished without a trace, leaving not even the slightest scar.

At that moment, everyone saw it. Before the smiles on their faces could fade, their expressions froze as they stared stiffly at the coldly sneering Apocalypse.

Alex’s face had gone somewhat pale. Caught by Apocalypse, he had been struggling the entire time. But Apocalypse’s rubbery arms coiled around him like a python. The more Alex struggled, the tighter they constricted, and his various abilities seemed to be severely restricted. Alex could not escape at all.

"Now, submit or die?" Apocalypse pulled Alex before his eyes, ignoring the attacks around him. His icy gaze fixed on Alex, endless killing intent hidden within his blood-red pupils. "Or shall I turn you into an apostle?"

Alex’s body trembled slightly, and his expression twisted with struggle, as if he could not make up his mind.

"Three… two… one!" Apocalypse continued applying pressure, even giving him a final three-second countdown.

On the other side, Nick and Natasha immediately abandoned High Evolutionary and charged over without hesitation. As for everyone else, they continued launching their attacks. No one stopped, but all of them kept a close watch on Apocalypse and Alex.

Just as everyone waited anxiously, Alex’s expression suddenly turned savage. Then he let out a thunderous roar: "Die, Apocalypse!"

The shout caught everyone off guard. Even Apocalypse failed to react in time. He stared at Alex in surprise, but just as he was about to speak, his expression changed drastically. His blue face faintly turned pale.

Before anyone could react, the armor on Apocalypse’s body suddenly cracked apart, then collapsed into a heap of scrap metal.

"Alex!" Apocalypse roared in fury, suddenly tightening both hands as if trying to strangle Alex to death.

But to everyone’s disbelief, even though Alex’s body had been stretched until it was as thin as an arm, he remained as lively as ever. His head, the only part still retaining its original shape, wore a casual smile.

The two remained locked in a stalemate for a while. Alex’s expression gradually calmed, and with a hint of chill in his voice, he slowly said word by word, "Now, it’s my turn, Apocalypse!"

The moment his words fell, Alex’s noodle-like stretched body erupted with endless red light. The blazing radiance was like a divine weapon forged countless times, releasing a sharp brilliance neither of them could bear to look at.
