Alien Throne War

Although he had seen too many more powerful divine artifacts and did not think much of Thor’s Hammer, this thing actually had quite a history.

It had been forged from the remains of a dying star. Its true mass was astonishingly great, but the Dwarves’ exquisite craftsmanship and Odin’s magic had made it as light as an ordinary hammer.

After a star began to die, depending on its mass, it could undergo a supernova explosion and become a red giant, then continue burning and collapse into a white dwarf, a neutron star, or even a black hole.

Whether it was a white dwarf or a neutron star, their density was anything but ordinary. A casual scoop might weigh as much as a small mountain. Being able to forge a divine artifact from such material meant the Dwarves were truly damn impressive.

Just imagine it—wielding a star and smashing things with it everywhere. How awesome was that?

Of course, remains were ultimately just remains, and it was hard to say how much had been used. It was probably only a tiny amount of core material, nowhere near comparable to an actual star. Otherwise, Thor would not have been able to wield it.

But no matter what, it was indeed a rare divine artifact of immense value.

It was said that Thor’s Hammer had originally been Odin’s own weapon.

Later, Odin inherited the throne and became the Allfather. After obtaining the royal scepter passed down through generations of Asgard’s royal family, he had the Dwarves forge the even more formidable Gungnir, then bestowed Thor’s Hammer upon his eldest daughter, Hela, the Goddess of Death.

Back then, Odin and Hela were united as father and daughter. The two Father-level powerhouses fought side by side, Gungnir and Thor’s Hammer combined. No one knew how many battles they fought or how many people they slaughtered. They had even killed more than one Father-level being, laying the foundation for Asgard’s status.

Even throughout the entire universe, Asgard was a sacred land that could not be violated. Whether it was the three great cosmic empires or extra-dimensional beings such as Dormammu and Mephisto, none dared invade Asgard. Odin’s renown intimidated the entire universe.

Later, Odin and Hela fell out. He stripped her of Thor’s Hammer and sealed Hela in Hel.

Thor was Thor’s Hammer’s third owner, and so far, its weakest one.

Each generation was worse than the last.

And now, after passing through Captain America’s hands, it had landed in his own.

Yet it was actually clinging to him and refusing to leave?

You were a divine artifact, Mjolnir.

Did you really have to embarrass yourself like this?

"Get lost!"

Old Wang casually tossed Thor’s Hammer away.

One weapon was enough, and it had to be suitable.

Old Wang truly was not used to such a small hammer. A man needed something big and long. Gungnir would have been more like it.

Weapons gained glory from their wielders.

Thor’s Hammer merely wanted to scam him out of some Azeroth Essence. Its heart belonged only to Thor and had no room for anyone else.

A forcibly twisted melon was not sweet, and a forcibly taken hammer would not be obedient. It would not be able to display much power. Not every divine artifact was as shameless and spineless as the Crimson Magic Belt.

For Storm Spirit, who already possessed the ability to control storms and lightning, Thor’s Hammer was not especially useful. Thunderfury or Fist of the Heavens would be much more suitable.

Most importantly, this thing was Odin’s treasure.

Just as Ancient One had said, that man had merely fallen asleep. If he truly went all out, he could wake at any time and descend upon Earth for a direct confrontation.

Although he had the Sorcerer Supreme backing him, rashly provoking a Father-level existence was ultimately not a good idea.

So…

Forget it!

Whoosh!

Thor’s Hammer flew away sideways while sending over a resentful thought. No matter how one looked at it, it resembled an abandoned young wife.

It was a divine artifact, after all. It had its pride.

Since the other party did not want it, it could not keep shamelessly refusing to leave. It decisively flew back beside Captain America and landed where it had fallen before.

"Eh, my connection with it… disappeared?"

Captain America hurriedly reached out to pick it up, only to find that he could not move it. His expression became complicated.

A wave of resentment came from the hammer, and he understood.

This hammer was heartbroken!

The reason it had been willing to let him wield it was because it wanted to suddenly hammer Director Wang once. But it had failed.

Since that was the case, there was naturally no need for it to pay him any attention.

After all, in this hammer’s heart, Thor was the rightful wife, while he was merely a temporary concubine to be discarded after use.

You little broken hammer, you’ve gone too far… Captain America was filled with resentment.

A few minutes later, a requisitioned SUV came roaring over. Coulson, Black Widow, and Hawkeye gathered around.

"Captain Rogers, this is the Thor’s Hammer you mentioned?"

As the overall field commander with the highest clearance among them, Coulson hurriedly asked, "Is it really Thor’s weapon? The legendary Mjolnir?"

He had Level 8 clearance, second only to Fury, Hill, and a handful of other clearance-hounds, and knew many secrets.

The Cosmic Cube was related to Norse Mythology. It was said that Red Skull had discovered it in Odin Temple in Norway, where the murals had depicted the World Tree and the Nine Realms.

In 1995, he had also encountered the Kree and the Skrulls.

Since aliens existed, why could mythological figures not exist as well?

Of course, in his view, gods were also people—just more powerful people. Wasn’t S.H.I.E.L.D.’s purpose to deal with aliens and mythology?

"Probably."

Captain America said helplessly, "I don’t know much either… It won’t pay attention to me anymore."

It was genuinely angry. Quite the tsundere.

Isn’t it just that it couldn’t beat Director Wang? There’s nothing embarrassing about that.

I can’t beat him either, and I’m not angry.

Coulson pondered. "It seems that if we want to know the truth, we’ll have to ask Director Wang."

He took out his phone and called Egghead, explaining the situation in detail.

Egghead had just finished speaking with Skye and was feeling stifled.

No matter what he asked, Skye claimed she did not know, saying, "I’m just an ordinary head of the Operations Department. I can’t manage the director. If you have something to ask, ask Old Wang directly."

You’ve gone too far, Skye!

Now, upon hearing Coulson’s report, Egghead gritted his teeth. "Immediately notify the nearby agents. Gather personnel to construct a base around Thor’s Hammer. No one is allowed to enter… especially people from the Shengun Bureau!"

Coulson quickly replied, "Yes," while quietly muttering to himself:

Especially people from the Shengun Bureau?

Director, Director… can you stop Director Wang if he comes?

Can you stop Quake or Ghost Rider?

You can’t stop Hulk, and you can’t even stop Daredevil and the others!

So what’s the point of throwing a tantrum? Meaningless!

"Looks like we’ll be spending the night here." Coulson shrugged and called the nearby S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

"Captain Rogers, did you really lift it earlier?" Hawkeye asked curiously.

He had just tried, but he could not move it at all.

His strength was not small by any means. Though he could not compare to Captain America, he should have at least half his strength. Yet it would not budge even a little. It showed him no respect.

"Mm." Captain America was somewhat displeased.

If he had been unable to lift it from the start, that would have been one thing.

He clearly qualified to lift it, but the hammer simply did not want him to. What kind of situation was that?

Sentient divine artifacts were truly annoying.

His own Vibranium shield was better. It never resisted him.

He stroked the shield with both hands, as gently as possible, as though caressing his lover’s breasts.

Different keys fit different locks. A replacement would certainly never compare to the original. Captain America understood that well.

"Natasha, why don’t you try too?" Hawkeye encouraged her.

Black Widow smiled. "No."

It was destined to fail, so why bother trying?

Besides, what if she succeeded? Wouldn’t that embarrass the two of them? Better forget it.

After hanging up, Egghead said solemnly, "Continue calling Director Wang of the Shengun Bureau!"

The storm had ended, so communications should have been restored!

"Attempting connection… Connection successful!"

Along with a gentle female voice, Old Wang’s voice rang out. "The number you have dialed is outside the service area. Please do not dial again."

Egghead: "…"

He was already so old, yet he was still playing this game. Did he have no ambition?

He said irritably, "Director Wang, what exactly is happening in New Mexico? The Security Council members are waiting for my report! They have been trying to contact you but can’t reach you! The President, the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Defense, and the Governor of New Mexico all want to know what happened!"

"Nothing much. Just an alien throne dispute."

Old Wang briefly explained the situation, then summarized, "The Old King exiled the eldest prince, then exhausted himself and fell asleep. The adopted second prince took the chance to seize the king’s position and even planned to kill the eldest prince to eliminate future trouble. Mm, that’s about it."
