#241
Allen Launches the Super Interview Segment
Your boss followed you.
Then unfollowed you the very next second.
As Lilith vanished, the Six-winged Angel in the void dissolved into streams of glowing feathers.
To Xerath, the sight was nothing short of a miracle. It was as if his faith had been affirmed, as if every sacrifice had been worthwhile.
"Hey, old fraud, can you lend us a hand?" Wade called out.
Xerath immediately shot him an angry glare.
But seeing that they were not dark creatures, he ignored them and leaped down from the rooftop.
The War Priest only hunted dark creatures. As long as other beings did not offend him, he paid them no mind.
"Deadpool, if you want someone’s help, you should be more polite. I think ‘old coffin’ sounds nicer," Allen retorted.
After a great deal of effort, the three of them finally freed themselves from the water tank.
Wade asked curiously, "What did that bat the client wanted look like?"
Based on the abilities the other party had displayed, along with the million-dollar advance payment, it was easy to tell that he was vampire nobility.
In fact, Wade had fought Dracula before, and the two had battled to a standstill. After all, both possessed immortal bodies.
Dracula had even drunk Wade’s blood once, only to vomit it up on the spot.
The reason was that Deadpool’s healing factor came from endlessly proliferating cancer cells.
To vampires, blood full of cancer cells was no different from poison.
Allen pulled two Red Bats, each wrapped in a sock, from his pockets and proudly showed them off. "Aren’t they cute? One is called Left Pocket, and the other is Right Pocket."
"Can I play with them?" Wade eagerly held out his hands.
"Nope!"
Allen tucked the two bats away and guarded them against his chest. "If you want to play, catch your own. Don’t play with my pets."
"Cheapskate."
Wade put on an indifferent expression, but his gaze remained fixed on Allen’s pockets.
Remembering the key detail of the mission, he realized that killing the two bats would also count as completing it. The problem was that he had fallen out with the employer.
Ding!
A text notification appeared.
Wade took out his phone to check it. The next second, he covered his face in horror and cried out bitterly, "My million is gone! Damn it, they hacked the money back! I should’ve withdrawn it as cash and hidden it at home right away."
"Don’t be sad."
Allen patted him on the shoulder and consoled him. "I’ll teach you Square Jungle. You won’t have to worry about food or clothes, and you can get drops worth as much as thirty dollars a month. Life will be sweet."
"You mean begging?" Wade asked with a look of disdain.
"Listen to yourself. We’re professional jungle players. We fleece the capitalists."
Allen declared with complete confidence, "From what I’ve observed, the treasure chests in wealthy neighborhoods definitely have valuable stuff. Clean it up and sell it secondhand, and we’ll make a killing."
"Get lost. I’m not interested in digging through dumpsters."
Wade’s expression turned openly disgusted.
"Hey, guys."
A young superhero in a red-and-blue Spider Battle Suit swung up onto the balcony railing on a web and casually asked, "Have you seen an angel?"
The newcomer was Spider-Man, who had been wandering through nighttime New York.
He had been patrolling nearby when he saw the angel descend, so he hurried over to join the excitement.
Instead, he ran into Deadpool, someone he knew well.
After taking a closer look, Peter’s attention landed entirely on Allen. He swung over to his side and asked excitedly, "Are you Batman?"
"I’m your fan. I’ve admired you ever since I was little. Could we take a picture together?" Peter reached toward his waist, looking for the camera he carried with him.
His part-time job was working as a newspaper reporter. He often sold artistic photos of Spider-Man to earn a meager living.
"Shit, you fake fan."
Allen pulled his cape over the lower half of his face, struck a pose, and said solemnly, "I’m Funny Bat, the one who defeated the Dark Knights. I’ve saved Batsy from his rebellious middle-aged phase many times."
"Nanaue is Shark Robin. Nanaue is Funny Bat’s most loyal partner."
Nanaue made a finger-gun gesture with one hand and leaned into a 007 pose on the left.
"I just wanted to take a picture and make a little money," Peter explained awkwardly.
Among superheroes, few were like Iron Man and Batman, possessing billions in wealth. Most were ordinary people in real life, struggling to make a living.
At that moment, Peter’s phone rang.
Peter removed his mask, his expression turning serious. "Hello, Mr. Stark. Do you need my help?"
"Okay, I’ll be right there."
As soon as the call ended, Peter put his mask back on and apologized, "Guys, I have to go save the world. Let’s have dinner at our usual place another day."
Without waiting for anyone to ask, Peter swung away on his webs toward Stark Tower.
Watching Spider-Man’s departing back, Wade remarked, "Ever since Iron Man recruited him into the Avengers, it’s been hard to find him."
"My grandnephew is probably trying to hook up with his aunt," Allen stated with certainty.
"Who’s your grandnephew?"
"Iron Man, Tony."
"…"
Wade questioned him, "You’re Asian. How could you possibly have a white relative?"
"His father and I were coworkers. It was during World War II," Allen said sincerely.
"Why not say you were already on the New Continent before America was founded?" Wade mocked skeptically.
"You guessed it. Five hundred years ago, I established a country on the New Continent and led my people against an invasion by dark creatures."
Unfortunately, the claim was far too fantastical. No one would have believed it.
Allen said mysteriously, "Want to have some fun?"
"What do you have in mind?" Wade sidled closer with a sly grin.
"The Avengers have a major mission this time. How about we livestream the whole thing?"
Allen laid it out. "I’ll be the ace host, you’ll be the ace guest, and Nanaue can be the cameraman. I’ve even come up with the title: Super Interview Segment—Free America, Disaster Every Day."
"I think that could work."
Wade put his hands on his hips and readily agreed.
Before going live, they needed equipment. Naturally, they used Wade’s smartphone. He also had an account on the biggest social media platform, though the short videos he posted got very few views.
Really, who would bother following the daily life of a lunatic?
"The problem is, I only have single-digit followers." Wade said gloomily, "If I had a million followers, I would’ve switched careers and become a streamer long ago."
"I have a way."
In the virtual realm, Allen had the artificial intelligence Unita to help him. He could directly hack into the social platform and push notifications to every user. Wouldn’t that solve the numbers problem?
Allen raised a hand and formed a portal leading to the conference room in Stark Tower.
"Holy shit!"
Wade covered his face with both hands in shock, looking as though he had never seen the world. "You’re actually a wizard? Can you give me Six Gods powers like Shazam?"
"No Six Gods powers, but do you want a bottle of Six Gods Dew?"
Allen stepped into the conference room and asked Jarvis where the incident had occurred.
Then he opened another portal to a small country in the Americas.
