#240
Allen Made Lilith Furious and Ashamed
The moon was dark, and the wind was high.
New York was, as ever, a city where criminals ran rampant at night.
However, New York’s criminals specialized in prying open ATMs. The cash stored in a single machine brought in far more than randomly robbing pedestrians.
That was why people often saw their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man fighting criminals inside roadside ATMs.
A figure swept through the night sky and swiftly descended onto a rooftop.
Deadpool had been waiting there for quite some time, standing perfectly still.
"I have to say, you’re incredibly stupid."
Lilith walked over step by step and said, "You should have bargained from the start instead of jacking up the price afterward."
With that, she silently activated blood magic.
Hmm…
Lilith was shocked to find that Deadpool before her remained completely motionless, as though her magic had failed and the expected result had not occurred.
Under normal circumstances, the blood in his body would have been slowly drawn out, leaving him to die in agony.
But Deadpool had an immortal body. At the very least, it should have weakened him, allowing her to torture him bit by bit and see whether he truly ignored pain.
"What’s going on?"
Sharp, blade-like nails slashed through the air, leaving crimson afterimages against the night.
In an instant, Deadpool was severed into several pieces, with white cotton stuffing clearly visible.
"A doll!"
They had actually set up a fake to fool her.
Lilith suddenly realized, "Damn it, it’s a trap."
"Hi, hey, hi…"
Allen poked his head out of the rooftop water tank and said smugly, "You fell for it."
"Allen!?"
Instinctively, Lilith looked around, suspecting that numerous heroes were lying in ambush. When she spoke Allen’s name, she was actually using sound waves to probe the surrounding environment.
"What was your name again?" Allen asked with his head tilted.
It seemed they had never properly introduced themselves.
Besides, Allen had no interest in finding out who the vampire boss was.
"The employer sounded like a woman. Let me see what she looks like."
Wade squeezed his head out through the water tank opening. Seeing Lilith, he could not help whistling. "Beautiful lady, are you the one who wants to kill the guy next to me? As long as you agree to be my girlfriend, I’m willing to help you for free."
"Is she pretty? Is she prettier than a dolphin? Nanaue wants to see too."
The opening had not been large to begin with, and once Nanaue’s head squeezed in as well, it immediately became extremely crowded.
"Nanaue, stop squeezing. My throat is caught on the edge."
"Allen, turn your face away. It feels like we’re about to kiss mouth-to-mouth."
"Nanaue is stuck! Nanaue can’t get down!"
"Whose idea was it to hide in the water tank?"
"Allen, you were the one who suggested it."
"…"
As Lilith watched the three of them argue in a jumble, black lines filled her forehead.
Those three idiots had gotten themselves stuck in a water tank, looking exactly like Diglett from Pokemon.
Thinking it over, Lilith felt deeply ashamed for ever considering them opponents.
If she could beat them, she would basically be bullying idiots.
If she could not beat them, then she was worse than idiots.
For no reason, she found herself in an awkward, impossible situation.
She would take this opportunity to kill them quickly.
A flash of resolve crossed Lilith’s eyes.
Crimson magical streams coiled around her hands as she prepared to end Allen’s life in one blow.
Hmm…
With a soft gasp, Lilith’s expression changed dramatically as she clutched her left breast.
That strange sensation had returned.
"Hand over my body parts!" Lilith roared.
"Don’t talk nonsense. When did I ever steal your kidney?"
"…"
Allen had not realized at all that the two Red Bats were Lilith’s pair of breasts.
Of course, Lilith could not just tell him to return her breasts.
"What body part did you steal from her that she got so humiliated and furious she hired someone to kill you? What part can even be removed from a person?" Wade asked curiously.
"Maybe it was her heart."
Allen sighed. "After all, it’s an undeniable fact that I’m an arsonist of maidens’ hearts, sentenced to a lifetime without a wife."
"So she’s a lunatic who’ll destroy you if she can’t have you. That’s terrifying." Wade spoke earnestly. "You can play with a woman’s body, but you can’t play with her feelings."
Allen gazed up at the stars, pretending to be melancholy. "What is love in this world? It makes people add an extra hour for salvation."
"Shit, I never knew you had such a brilliant side." Wade said jealously.
"Master is so cool. Nanaue wants to study more and become a poet."
Nanaue did not understand the meaning behind the words. He merely thought they sounded impressive.
"Talent is inborn. It’s only one of my many insignificant virtues."
Allen did not forget to brag. "Actually, I’m a Pokemon trainer. I have lots of pets: Nanaue, Hellhound the Sorcerer Supreme Dog, a calico Flerken, and two Red Bats."
"I can’t tell. I really can’t tell." Wade voiced his doubts.
"Enough!"
Show some respect!
I didn’t bring you here to chat, you bastards!
Lilith’s face was flushed red, and fury burned in her eyes. "Return the two bats you captured, and I can spare your lives."
"No!"
Allen said righteously, "They’re my bath poufs. I’m used to using them now. Without them, bathing has no soul."
Bath poufs?
For bathing!?
Upon hearing that, Lilith nearly spat blood from rage.
Those were her…
He used them to lather his entire body with foam.
Did that not mean she was giving him an emperor-style Thai bath every day?
"I’m going to kill you!"
In her fury, a curtain of blood formed behind Lilith. She no longer cared about concealing her whereabouts; all she could think about was killing him to vent her anger.
All of a sudden.
A silver glint streaked across the curtain of blood.
At some point, a middle-aged priest had appeared at the edge of the rooftop. Holding a silver sharp sword in each hand, he crossed them into the shape of a cross and declared majestically, "I am the War Priest of the New York Diocese, a follower of the Lord, a Silver Cross Centurion, one of the Twenty-Six Sacrifices, Xerath. I will never allow vampires to bring disaster upon mankind."
"That’s badass. Six six six."
"Holy shit, he really knows how to show off."
"Who is he? Nanaue feels very shocked."
The three stuck at the water tank opening were like background scenery. Looking at Xerath, whose entrance was packed with style, they instantly felt they had encountered a true master of showing off. He had four titles and had to recite every one of them, as though terrified people might not know.
"Get lost. Don’t get in my way."
Lilith did not want to get tangled up with him. Her heart was set on dealing with Allen.
"Vampire, the War Priest has sworn to the Lord that he will not allow you to slaughter mortals unchecked."
Xerath rapidly chanted, "Blade of my Lord upon this earth, hear your follower’s prayer. May the will of the Silver Cross grant its blessing. I sacrifice myself to drive away the darkness. Amen!"
A streak of white light appeared above the city.
It was a gate of light. From it emerged an angel with six wings on her back, as though she had answered the prayer.
"It’s you!"
Lilith cried out in terror. "Five hundred years ago, the Sorcerer Supreme who slaughtered countless Progenitors of dark creatures…"
The moment her words fell, bats filled the sky and scattered in flight.
During the dimensional invasion war, Lilith had personally witnessed the brutal carnage on the New Continent battlefield. If she had not fled the moment she sensed danger, she might have been unable to escape death as well.
Xerath looked blankly at the angel in midair and muttered excitedly, "My Lord has noticed me."
Clearly, Lilith had mistaken her for the Allen from five hundred years ago.
