Bai Cangshu chewed the giant beast meat in his mouth. Processed through the Chef ability, the meat had become exceptionally delicious and pleasantly chewy.
Its muscle fibers seemed far tougher than those of ordinary creatures. Bai Cangshu was unsure whether Godzilla truly existed in this world, or whether the information the Multi-Faced Star People had used to create this giant beast had come from other aliens.
This race, which considered itself beyond the level of ordinary lifeforms, had merely repelled the Four-Eyed Aliens’ attack rather than choosing to exterminate them.
Yet because the Four-Eyed Aliens were about to attack Earth, they had sent Gantz—the lowest level of technology capable of repelling the Four-Eyed Aliens—to humanity before the Four-Eyed Aliens arrived.
They did not care whether humanity lived or died, yet they interfered with everything. Rather than protectors, their behavior was—
More like the conservation experts of a zoo or botanical garden. They would protect any species that might face extinction, but would not interfere too much.
Bai Cangshu simply grilled beast meat in the Prime Minister’s official residence as though no one else existed. Then, he sensed a group of voices appearing out of thin air four kilometers away.
With only a slight extension of his senses, he knew that Gantz was teleporting a team over.
The previous mission involving the large-scale hunting of Reincarnation Star People had most likely been issued by the Multi-Faced Star People, either to create chaos or to allow them to contact the Reincarnators.
As for this new batch, Bai Cangshu noticed that they all had Asian faces. He knew that someone close to the Japanese Prime Minister had most likely leaked the information.
The conglomerates controlling the black spheres were using this method to attempt revenge and stop him.
Bai Cangshu casually pointed a finger. A Dodon Ray tore through the air and killed one person several kilometers away.
Then all sorts of explosions began ringing out one after another.
The group probably could not locate him and was firing their high-powered weapons blindly.
"Mr. Tao, Mr. Tao!"
"The list is out!"
Sugahide Hito and his secretary entered the conference room. Both turned a blind eye to the demolished table and burned documents. They also seemed not to have received any warning from the security forces, saying nothing at all about the Man in Black outside the residence.
Bai Cangshu merely glanced over the list. The Kujō, Fujiwara, and Tachibana families had been marked as the primary suspects, while several other less suspicious families were listed below. A thick dossier of analysis lay beneath the list.
But Bai Cangshu did not care about any of that. Finding just one family would be enough. Whether he killed too few, too many, or even the wrong people had nothing to do with him.
After receiving the detailed locations, Bai Cangshu bent both knees and leaped upward. With a bang, he shattered the roof of the official residence and shot into the sky.
Sugahide Hito stood in the conference room, staring at the scene in silence for a long time. When Superman truly appeared, and clearly bore no goodwill toward humanity, he instinctively began to feel fear.
Bai Cangshu tore through the air and saw from afar a large group of Gantz members in Reinforcement Suits firing toward the official residence from the fields. The security forces that had rushed over after hearing the commotion had already suffered heavy casualties.
Humanity’s conventional weapons faced an insurmountable technological gap against Gantz technology. Even the most ordinary Reinforcement Suit could ignore a considerable number of bullets.
On the other hand, the firearms granted by Gantz could dismember or kill ordinary people with even a grazing shot.
These people shouted gleefully as they slaughtered the weak, and were even more excited to openly assault the residence of high-ranking government officials.
Bai Cangshu stopped in midair. He looked down at the crowd below, but ultimately did nothing. As a sonic boom cloud burst open, he roared away through the sky.
Bonnie let out a breath of relief. In that instant just now, her sense of impending danger had nearly exploded. Mercenary Tao had been directly overhead, and if her identity as a Reincarnator had been discovered then, it would have meant almost certain death.
But it seemed her luck was not bad.
"Alright, get up. That guy should be going after the people controlling Gantz. Before long, that black sphere will probably stop functioning…"
Kei Kurono remained lying prone, not getting up. He touched the powerful equipment on his body and recalled how he had once fought desperately against all kinds of aliens, along with all those who had died in battle.
So… it had all just been a game designed by those wealthy tycoons and conglomerates…
Kei Kurono raised his head. At that moment, the young man who had long been worn down by life until he lost his edge was filled with furious rage, so much so that Masaru Kato, seeing that look in his eyes, almost believed the invincible Kei Kurono from their youth had returned to this body.
Riding Ace’s Skiff, Bai Cangshu cut across the skies above Tokyo. Nearly half the city had been destroyed by the fighting between Reincarnators, while much of the remaining area was now under martial law.
Bai Cangshu could see that within the areas sealed off by the military, many zombie-like creatures were still moving about. These zombies were most likely controlled by something and were not blindly charging the military lines.
Instead, they seemed to have settled into areas such as Shibuya.
Nor was the rest of Tokyo peaceful. The earlier nuclear explosion and the successive horrifying disasters had driven humanity into extreme panic.
The streets were completely clogged by cars fleeing the city. Those without transportation carried Backpacks and Food Source in large numbers, attempting to head for more remote rural areas.
But the main transportation routes had already been blocked by the government. More and more people had left their own communities only to become trapped in unfamiliar places, eventually brewing terrifying chaos.
Heart-wrenching cries and wails could be heard everywhere.
Amid that despair, Bai Cangshu suddenly sensed a peculiar power.
That power felt both familiar and unfamiliar.
After thinking for a moment, Bai Cangshu took out something from his Backpack that was extremely similar to that sensation—the Crown of the Outer God!
This item, which had allowed Bai Cangshu to almost directly borrow Inari Ōkami’s divine power in B711’s world, was now also emitting light.
Crown of the Outer God
Quality: Extremely Rare · Supreme
Description: A crown of faith condensed from the wishes of gods, a crown that acts upon the earth in their stead.
Effect 1: After wearing it, gain the temporary trait Divine Thought—gain the ability to pray to gods. Depending on the world’s level and the god’s authority, weak to moderate divine power may be bestowed.
Effect 2: After wearing it, you will be regarded as a devotee by any member of an Outer God Abode, and Reputation gains will increase by an additional 100%.
Effect 3: In worlds where members of an Outer God Abode descend, wearing this crown will cause you to be regarded as the "Outer God Patriarch," granting you leadership over this faction’s Reincarnators and Plot Characters. You may search for their locations.
Effect 4: Divine Human (1/5). The set is incomplete, and the power of Outer Gods cannot yet be used.
The item radiated a brilliant glow. Looking at Effects 2 and 3, Bai Cangshu understood what was going on.
When he killed the White Sanctuary captain, he had noticed the strange tree and magic circle as well. But he had not sensed any special power at the time, so he had not realized that it was also a ritual for an Outer God.
In this world, White Sanctuary had used a ritual to draw the gaze and power of an Outer God down upon it.
Thinking of something, Bai Cangshu curled his lips into a smile and once again placed the crown above his head without fully putting it on.
You used the item Crown of the Outer God.
You gained the temporary trait Divine Thought.
You gained the attention of the Outer God Ancient Alien God. You will be regarded as its devotee. You gained control over White Walkers and Wights.
You have become the leader of this world’s hidden faction, Outer God Abode. You will be regarded as the Outer God Patriarch. You have gained leadership over this faction’s Reincarnators and Plot Characters. You may search for their locations.
You have activated a new faction event: Ancient Alien God’s Winter.
After putting on the crown, Bai Cangshu suddenly sensed quite a few presences. This Ancient Alien God was far stronger than that worthless Fox Outer God.
The Reincarnators had merely started a ritual in this world and created several White Walkers, yet it could independently use the world’s vast amount of death and despair to guide many people into becoming its believers, continuing to expand the ritual and gradually descend.
Bai Cangshu sensed the ritual nodes, his expression revealing neither joy nor sorrow. He merely landed on the ground, raised a finger, and an icy aura began spreading from his hand.
Winter is Coming.
Moments later, several White Walkers whose bodies seemed frozen in ice emerged from Tokyo’s ruins, each followed by a large number of Wights.
Somewhere in Shinjuku, the expressions of two Reincarnators wearing priestly robes suddenly changed drastically.
You triggered the faction event: Summons of the Outer God Patriarch.
Event Description: The Outer God Abode Patriarch, Ancient Alien God’s devotee Mercenary Tao, has descended. All faction members are summoned to gather at the target location.
Success Reward: Reputation increases slightly.
Failure Penalty: Reputation decreases significantly.
"What the hell? Outer God Patriarch, Mercenary Tao?!"
Following Lancer’s orders, the two had secretly set up rituals outside Tokyo to guide the will of the Ancient Alien God. Their Reputation was just about to reach the point where they could open the Reputation Shop.
Yet they suddenly received a notification that the leader of the hidden faction Outer God Abode had appeared and was summoning all Outer God Abode members to the designated coordinates.
The two exchanged glances. They definitely could not go to those coordinates. In fact, they probably could not remain in the Outer God Abode faction either.
"Go. We can only flee abroad!"
Before leaving, the two looked at several people Bound inside the room. Frowning, they picked up a piece of Dragon Glass and walked toward them.
"Looks like we won’t get the chance to create a Night King. Why don’t we just kill these people…"
The Reincarnators spoke of murder without the slightest psychological burden.
The Bound people immediately shook their heads in terror.
"Don’t… don’t kill me. I still have children… They’ll be scared if they can’t see me…"
A woman’s eyes were swollen red from crying, but the Reincarnator holding the Dragon Glass showed no mercy and prepared to kill her casually. The woman kept trembling.
"Then please turn me into a monster. Even if I become a monster, I still want to…"
Pfft!
The Dragon Glass pierced the woman’s heart. Her fiercely beating, scorching heart began to turn cold in an instant, and accompanied by strange magical chanting, all the blood in her body began to chill.
Cold air began to spread. Evil Magic and Cold Color exchanged a glance, both feeling that this transformation had a chance of succeeding. But considering that their coordinates had already been exposed to Mercenary Tao—
Unwilling to continue their research, the two turned and fled.
Only the woman remained, watching the world turn icy blue. In despair, she stretched out a hand. The two people who had taken everything from her did not even bother to look at her, much less show emotions such as… pity or regret.
"I… hate this so much."
